This isn't really a BR - but more of a short story of a couple good games went sour because of hack suspicions. I apologize for the non-formatted text as I don't have any HTML proggie, and as far as the images you'll see, they're just uploaded through the site's image service.

It was Monday morning.... well in fact just an hour or two ago, tired and stressed from an all-nighter of midterm preparation, I decided to Starcraft a bit for relaxation purposes. Wanting to play against players whom I could communicate with, I went to x17 channel instead of joining random public games. Spammed for 1v1, got reply, made game, 3 people joined. Game started with 2 observers, me as zerg at 3 and my opponent (name censored, I don't like stirring up troubles) as protoss at the 6 position. One of the silly observers vision us, gave 9 away as empty spot, and my first overlord ran into empty 12, so I sent a drone to 6 to see what my opponent's race was. Protoss - with a pylon at choke, yum. We played for a bit, and an early rush by my part seemed impossible because of the 3 cannons and 6+ zealots, so I expanded one more time myself. Suddenly my telephone rings, I informed them and paused the game to answer; it was for my housemate, called him to the phone, and ran back to my comp. It was all good ~ my opponent and the 2 observers were just continuing their conversation about school and getting expelled from school, etc. When I was about to unpause, my opponent asked me to take a screenshot, and asked if I liked him to do so as well. Confused at first, I didn't know what he wanted, then he explained as in first battle shot shows. Ok...? Fair enough, there're many hackers out there and perhaps these are the necessary steps to make sure one is playing a legit opponent. Game resumed, my opponent gets dropped, apparently his Broodwar crashed. Ack.

Back in the channel, there he was, apologizing about the crash. No problem, I wouldn't think anyone would drop a game before any fight even begins. New game was made, one former observer tagged along, and game started. I received zerg at 6, while he got terran at 12. Assuming he was protoss, I took my gimme at 12 supply. Interestingly enough, my 10th drone went scouting and right when I entered his base 3 barracks were being constructed above his ramp - wow, what a bold move vs. random since he hasn't scouted me then. Ok - I was pretty fucked from then on, game involved me thinking he would early rush so I went fast ling speed/burrow with 3 sunkens hoping to beat his marines. Yet he never came till his infantry was 1/1 with tank support. To make things worse, my dumb lurkers made him scan and killed all my burrowed lings. Of course I had backup plans.... a hatchery has just completed at 9's natural - oh wait nevermind, about 10 marines shot it down. Strange enough, it was never scouted as I had a zergling on patrol at 9 and 3's bases. Well, I guess it's a pretty common thing to do for zerg to sneak expansions here and there. Anyway, made some mutas, raped some SCV's and then his troops marched into my main. GG's exchanged, and I left game right when he requested me to take a screenshot. Oops - too late for that.

Nevertheless, not liking the taste of losing, I asked for rematch. He gladly accepted, but asked me to mail the screenshot of that first game before we began. Flipped back to desktop, opened up my email client, then my screen resolution started to mess up because maybe Windows ME + my video card just don't like me switching back and forth between desktop and Starcraft. After sending the email, I was able to safely get back to Starcraft without going through an entire ordeal of rebooting. And so on with our 3rd and final game.

Lost temple again, both randomed, again, me getting a nexus at 9 while he got a CC at 12. Scouted with pylon probe, went 12 first, saw nothing and went to 3 then 6. Yes - I was a retard, I didn't go deep into 12, and assumed it was empty. I told him that and we chuggled at it for a bit when he said he lifted to island. So I thought - this guy's pretty cool, decently skilled, talks back when you talk to him, etc. Again, without scouting me, he did the right build, my probe ran into a wall-in when he circles back to 12. Trying to korean cheese, I sent 3 goons trying to clear that wall. Upon arrival, he had about 5-6 marines waiting. With some sloppy micro I killed those marines and started hitting a depot. Well, depot was only down to 300 life when 2 tanks pop out, 1 goon went down and I retreated the other 2. Good thing I had 2 dark templars rallied to his choke while this was all happening. The DT's went on and killed the 2 depots, made him lift rax, killed 1 tank (I seriously thought he went afk here). Then he started making the weirdest remarks (not quoting.... trying my best to paraphrase):

"HAAAAAHAHAHAHHHHHAAA"
"OMGGGGGG, DT rush? you're such a newb"
"only newbies do DT rushes"

Hrmm.... ok... well at least these 2 DT's fucked him enough for me to expand to 6 while he went on and on about how I'm a newbie. And if I was such a newbie.... why is he being screwed by a newbie move? Anyway, my DT's tried to venture in, yet he had good turret placement so I backed to his ramp, just holding position. He tried to redo his wall-in, but my DT's stopped it right away, and here he paused the game and asked me to take another screenshot (the 2nd battle-shot). The next couple minute involved him trying to turret/tank push a DT sitting at his natural not letting his CC land. Yes that DT died, but this also bought me time to get some high templars and another expansion at 3's natural and 6's mineral natural. At this point I felt stupid for over-expanding, as I often see terran beating protoss because the protoss player feels overly confident and expands too many times. Nevertheless, it soon proved to be a good thing that I warped a nexus at 6's mineral natural as I heard tanks thundering on the 3's expansion. Since I had gateways pretty much at all my expansions, and my main of course, and I was actually out-upgrading him because of my slightly superior income, I was too worried about sneaky drops thus I rallied all gates to map center for map control. From this on it was basically me throwing goons/zealots/DT's at his choke, being not cost effective at all because of his good tank positionings. After a couple minutes his natural was eventually gone, and only took me a quick moment to regain my troops. I scouted top left island and find a defenseless expansion. Dropped 3 templars, stormed some SCV's and he called GG, and predictably asked for another screenshot.

After the game ended, I emailed him the screenshots. And maybe wait for his offer of a rematch. Minutes passed, he then messaged me that he didn't get the screenshot of the very first game. Resent that first screenshot, logged back in bnet. He then said it wasn't the first screenshot he missed, it was the 2 from the PvT game. Resent those 2 screenshots, racking up 4 emails total - to a stranger. And my lovely windows decided to give me DLL problems right after I sent the last email. Took 2 minutes or so to reboot, logged back to bnet, only to wait more and more for him to check his email.

Then it hit me - what the fuck was I doing? Why did I have to prove anything? At first I thought he was a pretty cool guy to play against, very challenging, knows what he's doing, and had a sense of humor at times, so I wanted him to believe that I don't hack so we could play more. Lacking a good opponent has always been a problem for me, not because I'm too good or anything, but because I don't play too often thus I don't really know anyone in NH or x17. People usually ignore strangers' 1v1 offers, so I often find myself playing in pub 1v1 korean temple games. Anyway, here I was, sitting in x17, waiting for my opponent's "approval" of me not being a hacker. I felt pretty damn stupid and I just logged off.

I originally logged on this morning just to have a couple games as a study break - yet I ended up spending nearly 1/2 hour trying to prove that I didn't hack. Part of me always tells me to ignore hack accusations, and yet another part of me knows that by ignoring too much, spamming fags might just make everyone believe you're a hacker, which is quite annoying when you try to find people to play with or against. I don't know guys - I understand many people hack, and many don't. I've played a player or two whom I was pretty damn sure they hacked. I even had public game partners telling me they were hacking. They all had one thing in common - they lacked skills and ability to analyze anything because of their cheat. When I think of this - I don't get mad at hackers, I just think they're retarded. I play this game for fun, sometimes for competitiveness, and I believe most of you readers feel the same way as well. The only aspect of hacking that offends me is when I play a good game against a good player, he or she starts nonsensically make hacking accusations like there is no tomorrow. I just wish things would be like a year ago or so when I could play a great exhausting game, and congradulate my opponent or have him congradulate me when game ends, not making hack accusations because one is unable to comprehend his opponent's ability to predict. Back in the good days when games ended, people talked about errors in their strategies, today, they talk about what gay hax0r their opponents are.

Comments welcome, flames as well. Good day to you all.
