2 on 2 Battle
(ES)Necro & Clonk! vs.
[SK]H0lyAvenger & BaLIE_KuliNg
Map:Dire Straits
Players:
(ES)Necro Protoss Red Bottom Left
Clonk! Zerg Yellow Upper Right
[SK]H0lyAvenger Zerg Teal Upper Left
BaLIE_KuliNg Terran Brown Lower Right
Length of Match: approx. 30 min

The game began with Necro in the bottom left corner of Dire Straits, myself in the top right. We both began with a pretty standard build. Knowing that one of our opponents was Zerg, Necro elected it would be best for him to go for cosairs. I decided on a lurker drop, which little did I know at the time would change.
In all of our discussions Necro and I had both made a rather nasty flaw. I forgot to send my overlord off to patrol the map, and Necro forgot to costruct his first pylon until he ran out of available supply. Our errors aside, Necro was doing good, and I was doing rather crappy. Necro got back on track, and my overlord began its trek towards the bottom right island. My second overlord hatched shortly thereafter and I sent it towards the top left. As my original overlord approached its destination I noticed an scv sitting at the edge of the island, off to scout I guess :-) I decided, though, it would be better to steer clear of BaLIE_KuliNg's terran encampment, as my lord was too important to me at the moment.
While my overlord was scouting BaLIE_KuliNg's island outskirts, I turned my attention to the one that was approaching [SK]H0lyAvenger's town. As my overlord traveled further and further into enemy creep, I knew he would not be able to escape quickly, if nessesary, but I prefered to know what at least one of my opponents was up to. Just as my overlord reached the epicenter of [SK]H0lyAvenger's hive, a sigh of relief hit me. Avenger had not even finished his spawning pool! The reason for the lateness of this key building was soon clear to me. [SK]H0lyAvenger's minerals and geyser were bustling with activity! His monopolization of the minerals and vespene on his island would later prove to be a key factor. As I began to pull my overlord from the heart of [SK]H0lyAvenger's base, I noted that he had begun to upgrade to a lair, had laid down a second hatch, and his hydra den was nearing completion.
Thankfully during my exploration of the map Necro had not neglected his legions of protoss. True to his word, upon glancing at Necro's base I was delighted to see a growing fleet of corsairs fed by two stargates. Necro proceeded to send three of them towards [SK]H0lyAvenger's hive, which no doubt would be running rampant with hydralisks by now. As the corasirs jetted over the Zerg hive they were met by minimal resisitance and flew directly to where the overlords rest.
[SK]H0lyAvenger had no intention of standing by while his lords were being popped by flying tasers, and he took action. As his overlord began to run, he employed the assistance of four hydralisks in hopes of forcing the corsairs from his hive. Despite the best of Necro's corsair dancing skills, he couldn't evade the hydralisks any longer and made a run for it. While on the retreat Necro realized not one overlord had fallen victim to his taser ships, and made an abtrupt turnaround to pick off the weak one he had previously assaulted. Success was Necro's! As the 'lord rained its intards across [SK]H0lyAvenger's peons, the three assassins retreated triumpantly towards my hive, without a casuality among them.
While the distractive cosairs were working their mojo I had been meticulously morphing hydralisks while researching ventral sacs and speed from my single lair. Sadly Necro's display over [SK]H0lyAvenger's town had distracted me a bit too long, and I had forgetten to upgrade my second hatchery. It was at this time the the cosair trio was joined by a fourth, and began the bold mission of exploring deep into BaLIE_KuliNg's base. Travelling down to the bottom right the corsairs encounted the same scv I had at the beginning of the game, sitting there, determined to make it to the next island.
As the corsairs travelled further and further, I began to wonder why his base was so lightly defended. My question was answered with the sounds of machine guns and missle turrets firing upon Necro's flying foursome. BaLIE_KuliNg had built all his defensive structures on the left most corner of his island for some reason. Noting this, the corsairs made a hasty retreat and, once again, not a causuality among them.
Meanwhile, back in my town my hydralisks were numbering in the mid twenties and growing excited for battle. The strike they craved would come very soon. Overlords were racing about with their ventral sacs ready to load. I began clicking on my buildings in the brief period of idleness. To my shock I found I had forgotten to upgrade hydralisk range! Quickly I began researching the hydra range, just as my ventral sacs finished. Coincidentally, Necro reminded me I should be expanded at this point - we had been playing a good ten minutes. Necro already was laying down a nexus at his nearby island, as I should have been doing. Rather, I chose to load all my overlords with my hydras and plot a course for BaLIE_KuliNg's mineral line.
As my overlords neared their destination, it became clear I would meet little, if any, resistance in dropping their precious cargo. My heart raced as I rushed them in, calmed slightly by Necro's "nice." When the gleam of a mineral patch caught my eye I decided it would be best to unload my hydras behind his minerals, as the defenses at the left of the island were probably creeping closer by this point. My hydralisks unloaded without any interuption and began to pummel the meager 10 scvs. After destroying his workforce, the hydralisks slithered through the patches of minerals and began to let their stinging spines beat upon anything terran they could find and were still unscathed.
I elected to move my overlords back home for both expanding and safety purposes. To my surprise my brigade of lords was cut off by a regiment of marines, backed up by a goliath. Making a quick 90 degree turn they were able to escape, losing only two of their breathren, and returned to the hive to load drones into their sacs. Seeing the overlords had escaped his grasp, BaLIE_KuliNg turned his marines to the more important task of repelling the hydralisk infestation in the heart of his already ravanged base. To further fortify the hydralisk's postion Necro sent a revear and several dragoons to the war-torn island.
The attack was going spendidly. Necro's reaver was successfully keeping stray terran infantry at bay and structures attempting to escape towards [SK]H0lyAvenger's town were shot down in vain. We were sure the game was ours.
[SK]H0lyAvenger had other plans however. My skimpy troop at home was caught terribly offguard by a swarm of ravenous hydralisks whom arrived via overlord. It became obvious to us why [SK]H0lyAvenger had made no attempt to aid his ally. He wanted to strike one of us with our pants down, unfortunately me! I didn't have much time. [SK]H0lyAvenger's hydralisks were riping through my building faster than a knife through hot butter and I was running out of options. If only I had taken Necro's advice and expanded! Then I remembered! I had two overlords each carrying one drone. They had become my lifeline.

Quickly pulling my cluster of overlords from the fray I began to frantically search for the ones containing drones. The first one I located was ordered to unload on the nearest island possible to set up a temporary structure in order to keep me affloat long enough to set up a base of operations near Necro. My temporary hatchery went up two seconds before my extractor fell.
Letting a sigh of relief go, I began to relax and level my head again. Necro moved the foursome of corsairs to a location so they could shoot down any overlords attempting to attack my temporary hatchery. Noting this, I unloaded my remaining drone on the island close to Necro and began the contruction of my new hive. Just as I was preparing to cancel the temporary hatchery, [SK]H0lyAvenger's overlords appeared on the horizion, heading straight for the island. I quickly cancel the temporary hatch, as I originally planned to, and began to watch the mightly foursome of corsairs take on the ten overlords filled to the brim with hydralisks. Sadly, one of the bloated balloons fell before the hydras began to unload. The foursome began to retreat but soon was only a duo. The evil beasts slayed my drone and then became engulfed in the darkness of the fog of war.
Assuring Necro that my last hatch was not going to die, I thought it a good idea to send my remaining overlords to the island on which BaLIE_KuliNg's base once lay and return them to the new hive. The lords loaded their sacs uneventfully and then began the half a map trek home. I thought everything was ok; after all, the opposing team had no idea where I was.
Then it caught my eye. A beat-up brown starport that had obviously escaped my hydralisk flak line was slowly trucking by my town. My heart skipped a beat. I knew I was in trouble. [SK]H0lyAvenger's overlords would be there any second and mine had still a little over half of their journey to complete. Necro and I sat there in suspense, hoping my army would reach the hatchery first. Needless to say, I came in second. Screaming 'don't die,' Necro hastily loaded a shuttle with a reaver and layed in a course for my island under seige.
It became obvious my overlords wouldn't reach home in time. All our hopes lay in the one reaver that had just landed in the chaos. Try as both Necro and the reaver may, there were just too many of the slimey slothiens. We watched as my hatcheries construction progress bar steadily traveled down, eventually to nothing. The hydralisks stood proud over the crater that once contained my hatchery.
Since I was eliminated, I asked both Necro and [SK]H0lyAvenger to write up the events following my demise. The following account you will read is [SK]H0lyAvenger's.
I eliminated Clonk! with several consecutive hydra drops, while my ally was crippled by Clonk!'s hydra drop with only some mobile buildings left and no minerals or CC. I did a hydra drop on (es)Necro with my remaining hydras and replacements. (es)Necro decimated my hydras with templars and 2 reavers. I took an expansion to the south right of his base and defended it with sunken colonies and spore colonies. (es)Necro also expanded to the north east of his base. I dropped off a pitiful number of hydras and zerglings in 3 overlords and the expansion which was killed by dragoons and a reaver.
Seeing that I wasn't gonna go anywhere with the hydra drops because of reavers and templars so started ungrading a hive and started making mutalisks. I attacked (es)Necro's expansion with 11 mutalisks and burnt it to the ground.(Necro failed to use any defense at his expansion) (es)Necro dropped off reavers and templars at my base but was killed by sunken colonies and defending hydralisks. I took another expansion to the south of my base and surrounded with pairs of scourages to fend off incoming drop attempts. Necro attacked my new expansion with corsairs and tried for a drop but a shuttle full of temps exploded upon running into a pair of scourages. (my ally now disconnects or was disconnected) Necro grabbed my ally's old base for an expansion which didn't last too long under the patrol of my mutalisks.
While my mutalisks were away, Necro dropped off 6 dragoons at my expansion and killed 2 sunken colonies and started wreaking havoc outside the range of my other defending sunken colony. My mutalisks returned and destroyed the dragoons. Necro cleverly built a nexus behind my ally's minerals and started mining the riches but however he once again failed to have ANY defense at his expansion which was once again razed to the ground by 11 mutalisks.
My 12th ultralisk just got done while 2 forges finished upgrading melee weapon level 3 and armor level 2. 7 overlords dropped off 12 Ultralisks and 2 defilers at Necro's main base. Defilers dark swarmed away for the ultralisks which wreaked havoc on a few defending photon cannons and a couple of temps. An archon fought valiantly but wasn't able to stop the overwhelming number of ultralisks. Necro, being extremely low on resources, hadn't much to do and surrendered.

There are cool pictures in the original version. Go ahead and take a look at the website:Tech-Base.com. It has pretty good resources.
Bye.
