A few months ago, I was doing what punks named slings do when they chill in nh. In other words I was tagging along after POA.
So anyways, POA (ProtectorOfAiur)and Talon (-Talon-)decide to game for great fame even tho they were lame.. oops, not rapping.. my bad.
What I meant to say was, POA and Talon started up a 1v1. They played on Temple and they both went with random.
So Talon, ends up with Zerg at the 9 o'clock. POA on the other hand gets Terranas the 6 o'clock. Zerg vs Terran? that's about as close as you get to a balanced interacial game in BW (imho) so... I guess the better man will win eh?
Then again maybe not, there's a 9 pool on the horizon and a dark storm rising for poor POA... basically, POA sends an SCV along to Talon's base on a scouting run and halfway there it runs headlong into 6 lings. Luckily for POA he is able to buy a few crucial seconds as the lings follow his SCV partway back to Talon's base.
How does POA react to this situation?? Well he's got 1 marine and an SCV at his ramp, so.... he starts another marine and a bunker and gets prepared to hunker down and force the enemy back.
Unfortunately... the enemy isn't really in a fighting mood.. they're in more of a kamikaze assasin mood so the 6 lings run past the bunker. The marine leaps out of his bunker to give chase along with his new homie the other marine. the lings have already done damage though, several SCV's have been shredded by these sleek clawed killers.
After a few more SCV deaths the marine/SCV combo kills the lings and the marines return to their bunker.
What's talon been up to? He's dropped another hatchery, gotten gas, and soon adds a den. POA??!!?! Well, he's doing on of the oddest terran builds I've ever seen against Zerg. He's had gas for a bit now, and his factory goes up. Then, without building a machine shop he builds a StarPort and an engineering bay. hmmmmm! Turrets go up by him ramp bunker and his mineral line. What could he be up to?
Well, I guess it doesn't matter much, because Talon's layer just finished and he's got 4 lurks morphing in POA's natural..... That little bugger Talon is a crafty one though, as prepubescents(sp?) go, he burrows the lurkers below the ramp and spots with an Overlord so that the lurkers can strike upwards at the depots clustered around poa's ramp.
Is this the end? Most likely. POA begins a machine shop, and sends a repair crew of SCVs on over to repair/stall. A depot falls, the machine shop finishes. The SCV's continue to repair on. A tank pops out and rolls on over to the bunker. Relief is at hand?!!!? Nope, no siege mode. The second depot falls! Reinforcement hydras have begun to collect in the 6 o'clock natural.
Finally the tank commander (whose name was Fox) pops out of his cupola and grins to the SCVs. "Thanks for the jolly old delaying action m'boys. I've got the wife down in the tank y'see.. and well.. we just weren't ready, but now we are! Wot wot, carry on, we'll give u some artillery relief!" Then his mustaches wiggled like only a british man's can and he ducked back down. The 3 SCVs (Named Kane, Cloud, and Frozen) look at each other and shrug then toddle off to mine minerals singing
The tank sieged up as the very instant the hydras ran up the ramp.the lurkers unburrow and go up as well. then the tank blast hits them midstride, and so they all turn tail and run like little girls. The bunker/tank combo takes care of 5 hydras and 2 lurkers before Talon decides retreat is the best option.
Well, during that whole affair Talon has been busy. He's started hatcheries at the 12 o'clock main and the 12 o'clock natural. POA, who has been fighting for his life all this time, starts 2 new barracks, and a command center in his main.
Each of Talon's expansions get a spore and a lurker, and he begins hatching a mobile strike force of mutaes. What's POA's response? He builds a drop ship (it was piloted by Col), floats his CC to his natural and begins to ferry over marines and medics to talon's main. Col flirts with the marines so much that the medics get mad. Wait.. what?!fdgijldfjglodfjgldj
ahem, after several trips of the "love boat" piloted by PrincessCollsy.... POA decides that he has a large enough force in Talon's main and attacks. A hatchery and the spawning pool fall before lurkers, mutas, and scourge save what is left of the main. Luckily col escapes to flirt another day..............Talon takes the 12 o'clock mineral only.
A second marine drop finishes off Talon's main however as he loses hydra den, spire, drones, and the hive he was making. Col and the love boat go on a special mission, dropping marines by the retreating ovies to pop talon's supply. This works beautifully and talon is forced to suicide 4 mutas at the marines to gain time for his ovies to escape.
Talon, while he was under attack rebuilt his entire tech tree, putting down spire, den, and pool and restarting his lair asap. He also took the 3 o'clock main, natural, and mineral only. This kid macroes like me, "Oh hey, I've got $900 after rebuilding my whole tech tree?!?!?!"
A scouting science vessel finds all of the 12 o'clock expands and the loveboat is sent enroute. but this time POA has wisened up and sends only gay marines with col in hopes of them actually getting some work done... lkdjslskd
Anyways, Col and her loveboat drop off the gay marines (who I shall refrain from naming....) at the 12 o'clock mineral only. The Marines can the expand and then stand around. POA takes his mineral only. Talon takes the 9 o'clock mineral only, but then realizes POA still has all those marines from his original main killing drop at 9. A force of muta/ling/hydra kill off all of the original troops, saving the three mineral only... for the moment.
Talon takes this force and assaults POA at the 6 o'clock mineral only. POA deftly turns back the assault though with marines, medics, Sci vessels, and goliaths. In response POA M&M drops the 3 natural raising the structures before mutas come and finish off his marines.POA then sends his main force towards the 3 o'clock natural raising it with some casualties to talon's forces which withdraw. Talon retakes the 9 natural and mineral only.
POA's main force moves on to the 3 main, where is it sandwhiched between 3 sunkens, several lurks, and a bunch of hydras. Well, so much for that assault. but wait! POA marines dropes the 9 o'clock natural, then picks up the marines and moves to check the top left islandas he repels a lurker/hydra attack at the 6 o'clock mineral only.
Finding no expansion at the island, poa heads his dropship on over to the 12 main where they kill an evochamber, assimilator, and a bunch of lings before dying to lurkers.
At some point POA floated a CC on over to the bottom right isle. It was there just long enough for a turret or two to be erected when a crowd of rowdy mutalisks swept in and smacked some terrans down. They were screaming obscenities and generally being rude, in general though here is the censored version, "HIT AND RUN EXPANSION KILLING?!?! YA WE GOT SOME! YA BABY, nice windmills! oh wait they're tyurrets?! no, not turrets they are my bitches!@ hit an run son, u can do it, but so can we can't you see how you behave pitifully?!"
U never knew mutaes rhymed on occasion, did you?
Anyways, POA sends some marines (2/2), tanks, and gols up to the 3 o'clock main and finally succeeds in raising that base. Then a shipload of marines arrives to save POA's poor CC at the bottom right island. The rhyming mutaes die, their intermingled screams melodically rhyming to the beat of shells smacking into their carapace.
Talon's not done yet though, he sweeps into the 6 mineral only with hydras/lings/lurks and kills the expansion. Ok, anyways now he is done, a force of marines/gols come from the main, kill off Talon's offensive and from here on out it's all clean up for POA. Talon lays down some more hatches, they die to the loveboat and its crew while POA's main forces assault 12 and..... GG's are exchanged.
Players were great, the report wasn't, but I hope they at least enjoy it ;o) |
