Welcome to the first ever Testosterone production. First of all I
would like to thank three people, GammaRayBurst for his technical help,
Cheese for his valued knowledge of Photoshop, and Skyblazer, who helped
with Photoshop and the flash intro, and King-Lewis for helping with
flash and frontpage. Big props to all these guys. Also, this
has alot of pics, so you 56k people are going to have to wait :(.
I
basically learned Photoshop 5.5 for this so some of the pics may not
be that great. As I got more familiar with Photoshop I made
more pics, so I might of over done it :). Give me feedback please,
this is my first report and I want to improve. Let me know what im
doing wrong, i.e. using too many pics, not enough detail, bad color
scheme, thx. Onto the report.
As you can see from the pic on the left (I'm damn
proud of that pic) {-Mirage-}
(Mirage)
picks Terran and gets them at the 9 o'clock spot.
SlingsNArrows (Slings) picks Zerg and gets his hatchery at the 6 o'clock
spot. Since I am new to battlereporting I made this picture on the
left here to big so I have to fill in this big area right here :).
Lets
meet the players:
Mirage
is new to nohunters and
battle.net. From what I gathered while I played with him is that
he used to play on Kali, but everyone plays D2 there so he migrated to
b.net.
Slings
was born and raised on b.net. He is a very funny/good guy to talk
to and play with. You always hear him complaining about how bad he
sucks, dont listen, that is just an act. He is also a hardcore
rapper, more on that later. He is known to do crazy strats at times,
which can get kinky.
Allrighty, Mirage
starts out by cloning all of his SCVs to work, while Slings does the
same. Both know what race their opponents is so there shouldn't be
confusion about what these players are going for.
Mirage
sends his 8th SCV to his choke and commences to build a supply depot
(far left one in pic). As soon as his 10th SCV completes he starts
up a barracks to further his wall-in. While his barracks is being
built, Mirage starts
building a refinery for early gas. Tech like a whore and hide
behind the wall-in is obviously his strat this game.
Slings gets 9 drones, then builds 2 more drones. When these complete he sends a drone out to his natural which then morphs into a hatchery. His overlord has passed over the Terran's base so they both know where eachother's base is located. At around 12-13 he sends another drone out to scout I assume. Back at his home base he starts on a refinery at number 13-14 and soon after starts his pool.
As soon as his drone arrives at the 3 o'clock main it morphs into another
hatchery.
Both players commence
teching, Slings starts on a lair along with a hydra den, as Mirage
built a factory and then a starport as soon as the factory was
done. He is obviously going for either a drop or a turbo
newbie.
.
Mirage
gets the starport add-on as
quickly as possible. Slings gets a sunken and some lings to
protect his natural incase of a quick M&M attack. Mirage
gets a dropship and loads up one tank, two marines, and two SCVs and
sends them over to Slings' natural cliff, he also adds an e-bay at
home. Mirage
then uses a wraith to harrass Slings while he sets up the turbo newbie.
Slings has an overlord
above his cliff, and seeing the dropship unload, he quickly sends all
his drones to his 3 o'clock expansion before they are destroyed.
Slings realizes he is going to lose his natural expansion so he just
builds another hatchery at his mineral only, keeping the resource
advantage in his favor three to one. Lets see how that turbo
newbie is looking.
Slings now has lurker
aspect and starts morphing lurkers. He also added another gas at
his 3 o'clock to make up for his lost one at his natural. Slings
buries a lurker in his mineral line to protect from drops at his main
and continues to pump drones/lings/hydras/lurker. Mirage
has teched quite nicely.
While both players sit
back and power/tech more Mirage starts
a Command Center in his main, which he plans to float to his natural or
the top left island. When the Command Center is about half way
done, Slings starts a hatchery at the 12 o'clock main and also the 12
o'clock mineral only, continuing his resource
advantage.
A roaming
wraith finds the 12 o'clock expansion and is soon chased away by 3
hydras. Both players have not upgaded their attack or defense but
Slings does have overlord speed and both hydra upgrades. Upon
seeing that expansion Mirage
comes to the realization that he can not let Slings take the map so he
loads up a dropship with 8 marines. So it is 8 marines being
unloaded vs 4 lings and 3 hydras, who wins? See for yourself.
Since Mirage
couldn't take down that expansion with a drop he goes the direct root
and sends 14 marines and 2 medics to kill the expansion. Along the
way they run into lurkers and only 8 marines survive. No pics
because of graphic violence of two medics dying.
Slings
then makes his move, as he drops one lurker and 4 lings at Mirage's
natural peon line and 4 hydras and 8 lings in his main. Now I did
not see the drop in his main because i was paying attention to the drop
at the Terran's natural. I think Mirage
did not notice his natural's peon line being destroyed because he did
not react to it all that early. For you visual learners, here ya
go.
As you
can see Mirage lost
all his SCVs at his expansion and was damaged a little bit at his main,
this attack was an excellent attack as it threw the Terran into confusion
as he could only concentrate on killing one of the two attacking forces
at once. Seeing how well the drops worked Slings loads up two more
overlords full of 4 hydras and 8 lings and drops them on Mirage's
main. What really hurt was the mobility of the terran army, he had
just moved all his forces back out of his base to his front-line and had
to send them back up his ramp and through his buildings to get to the
2nd drop. Good job to Slings for keeping up the pressure.
During all the commotion Slings moves 4
lurkers into position outside of Mirage's
choke containing him.
Mirage decides he isnt going to win if he just sits here and gets attacked, so he irradates all the lurkers outside his
base. Slings sees the bulk of the Terran forces and drops eight
more hydra into the already damaged main.
This stalled Mirage enough
so that Slings could get his secret weapon.
Ultras came and ripped up the M&M, from there on
it was just clean-up.
Thus concludes my first game, the pic above is just
meant to compare, I know it isn't pretty. I would like to thank
the players for letting me watch and br their game, and again thank you
to GammaRayBurst, Cheese, and Skyblazer. Onto the fun stuff.
