In addition, blazer's actually kind of good, but unskilled with terran(he usually plays protoss.) Here goes...
Map:Opposing City States '98
Me(zztzeux):Protoss(random, teal) - Top right.
scblazer:Terran(random, blue) - Bottom left.
JJ_McKay6:Terran(picked, red) - Bottom right.
On a distant jungle planet inhabited by the protoss, two terran magistrates, scblazer and JJ_McKay6, have decided to ally and claim the rich spoils of the land for themselves. Meanwhile, the native Protoss, led by Executor zztzeux, have decided to repel the invasion, even though they are outnumbered 2 to 1. However, Executor zztzeux knows from previous experience that both magistrates are slightly less skilled than he. His nexus proudly warps in at the top right, while blazer and McKay's command centers land at the bottom left and right positions, respectively.
I choose to build normally, but place my pylons at the two ramps leading up to my encampment. Knowing that an offensive strategy will get me killed, my probes warp in a forge and a handfull of photon cannon at each choke point. I then send a robotic probe over to the enemy encampment, and discover scblazer's base, but the robotic miner is devastated my concentrated gauss rifle fire, and is unable to scope out jj's encampment. I then warp in a pylon near my nexus and 2 gateways, as well as an assimilator, and build a small number of zealots. I then start constructing a nexus at my would-be partner's spot, hoping to even out the resource advantage my opponents have. About this time, a squadron of marines arrive, only to be mowed down by cannon fire.
I next construct a late cybernetics core, as well as get my expansion going. Fearing that my opponents might build seige tanks to destroy my cannon, I build a robotics facility and citadel of adun. Once these are completed, I build another robotics facility and robotics support bay. I eventually build a shuttle and 2 reavers, and send them to scblazer's base. Unfortunately, I had not done advance recon and the shuttle was mowed down by missle turret and bunker fire. This infuriated me, so I began construction of a templar archives and started warping in high templar, and researching psi storm. I also build a stargate, and expand to the expansion behind me with 2 geysers.
Soon, a combined tank/marine/goliath attack is launched on me, but photon cannon, dragoons, and psionic storm are able to repel the invading terrans with casualties of only a single cannon and dragoon. I next contruct an observatory, and place them at all expansion spots, since attempts to spy on my enemies' bases are thwarted by missile turrets and science vessels. However, the observers live long enough to see that McKay has 2 starports, numerous tanks, and a science facility with physics lab. Thinking I will soon be facing battlecruisers, I construct 3 more starports, numerous shield batteries, and another cybernetics core and begin upgrading. I also build a fleet beacon for scout speed and sight upgrade.
Soon, one of my observers notices that an expansion has been set up by scblazer at the expansion behind his base. I grab 10 newly minted scouts, and begin razing the expansion. Wraiths attempt to spoil the fun, but my observer makes their cloaking meaningless, and my upgraded missles tear right through them. Confident that I have a higher cash flow than both my opponents combined, I start to make many more scouts, and get an arbiter tribunal.
I had been fairly defensive because I was afraid that if I attacked with everything, the resulting double counterattack would crush me. Therefore, I simply sat in my base for a while, amassing speed-upgraded scouts. For some reason, my opponents never attacked after their recent tank attack. Once I had about 15 scouts, I headed to JJ's base, found 4-6 battlecruisers, and destroyed them, losing only 2 of my fully upgraded scouts to yamato blasts. I then retreated to my shield batteries. Amazed that all four of my vespine geysers were depleted, I expanded again, to the one at around 3 to 4 o'clock. This too had 2 geysers. I kept making scouts, and when I got 25, I attacked magistrate scblazer. I tore through his goliaths, and recalled 7 dragoons into his base, which were unfortunately killed very fast. However, this massive assault convinced him that his army could not stand against the superior Protoss force, and he fled the planet, hoping to find a spot less defended. JJ_McKay, now on his own, quickly conceded upon learning of his ally's retreat. zztzeux's planet was again safe from intruders.
CONCLUSION
This was an excellent game, mainly because I thought I'd be killed early on, but wasd left alone to expand. A nice game, overall.
LESSONS
1)Scouts do very well in attacks aganist battlecruisers. Because sheild batteries heal faster than even numerous scv's, hit-and-run tactics will allow even a numerically inferior scout forces to defeat a battlecruiser force.
2)You MUST expand! I had more resources mined and spent than both my enemies combined! If they were able to expand and fortify those expansions early on, they would have had a much better chance.
3)It is extremely difficult for a land based force to destroy cannons placed on top of a ramp. My opponent's seige tanks were mauled by cannon fire and psi storms before the could do much. If they had co-ordinated seige tanks with com-sat, it might have been different, but the tanks will only hit 70% of the time, making them psi-storm bait.
