What does Bongerfixer mean?!?

Introduction

Hi there, my name is Breeze and I have just decided to test if I can make a BR... Because of my bad ISP I can just occasionally play BroodWar at a Bulgarian FSGS called "Headoff". I have huge problems connecting to Battle.Net, so I guess no one of you knows me... Actually the few times I was on B.Net I managed to play some NH greats - Johnny_Vegas beat me Terran vs. Terran on LT once, Drefsab on Dire once (him terran me protoss) and I had two games with Probe and actually managed to win one on Medusa, since he didn't know the map and made a mistake at the beginning.

So I play at that Headoff  FSGS, and actually sometimes there are some world class Bulgarian players there, like [o]Mr.X (he did it to the Top 16 at the last KBK finals in Korea), DIDI8[BG], [BG]KurMur and others. So finally about the game I am going to BR - it's a game between a guy called X'Z~BoNgeRFiXeR of the "famous" ;) clan X'Z and me, using the nick JBoy.

Kewl map, eh? :)

MAP: LOST TEMPLE

X'Z~BoNgeRFiXeR: at 3, blue chosen Protoss

JBoy: at 12, brown random Protoss

Actually X'Z's play good and I was a bit worried, but I had a slight advantage, since I knew my opponent's race and he didn't know mine - and since he didn't scout me early enough, as it turned out he built two gateways before finding out he needed to tech with me being Toss too. My build order - Gate 11,   Pylon, Cyb.Core at about 22~23 while building non-stop Zealots and Probes, then another Gateway. I tried scouting him for a second time to see what he was up to, but he had blocked his ramp with three Zealots... Well anyway I built a Robo Facility with Reavers and Anti DT in mind... After my initial 4 Zealots I had started Dragoon production, and just when my Robotics was about finished I had my forces gathered around my ramp.

X'Z~BoNgeRFiXeR scouted me with a Zealot and retreated it after it received some Dragoon fire. I had to choose what to do after the Robotics Facility warped in, and using my intuition (heh I don't have such I'm making this up) I built an Observatory and an Observer right afterwards. Then I started working on my Reaver tech with shuttle support and my Dragoon Range Upgrade as soon as I had the money, while producing Dragoons.

I sent the Observer towards X'Z~BoNgeRFiXeR's position scanning the path between our ramps, and being the moron I am I didn't send the Zealots and Dragoons with it, so when I saw two scary DT's running towards my base, I wondered if the Observer was going to make it back fast enough (those guys were RUNNING). Well as they arrived at my ramp, they were still barely in the range of the observer, and anyway even if the observer had been late, the way I had blocked my ramp was a good anti DT defense, since it's most important that the "cloaked assassins" (bleh sounds stupid) don't get to the mineral line. Anyway the poor dudes got slaughtered and I immediately attacked with all I had and with the Observer floating above my angry army.

When I arrived at my destination, it turned out that X'Z~BoNgeRFiXeR was hoping to contain me with the DT's since he had just expanded... well my units razed the Nexus with ease, and I proceeded up the ramp, but I stupidly sent my Observer ahead (for spotting purposes) and it got shot down by two cannons... =[ Without a spotter and most importantly fearing DT's I ran back to my base, where I waited for another observer to pop out... but during the battle I hadn't been idle, remember what I had in mind?

A bunch of Dragoons and Zealots and a mean Shuttle floating above

Yes, I already had a Shuttle with a Reaver inside it, building up Scarabs... I knew X'Z~BoNgeRFiXeR was in a desperate position probably and I guessed he had all his defenses at his entrance, so I quickly headed around the northern side of his base, and it turned out there were no cannons or units around the enemy mineral line, so my Reaver had a grand time popping up some of those poor Probes (Note: That's cannibalism, both those units are robotic). Well then it started...

X'Z~BoNgeRFiXeR: HACKER

Uhh... Not much scouting yet :)Yep... He thinks I'm hacking... Well I guess it's about time that I show the minimap... :) That blue dot at my ramp, I don't remember what it was... Just ignore it, thanks.

I argued a bit with him, then I sent my force through his front door, I had 2 Reavers which I unloaded inside his base shooting at the cannons, and my Dragoons were doing their job from below, with observer support. I expanded to my natural during this attack.

He had High Templars supporting his Dragoons at the ramp and used them well, storming both my reavers (I pulled them out of there before he landed his second storm to kill them. He also cast a lot of storms on my Dragoons below, so it turned out I wouldn't be able to finish him off right now... well I just pulled my remaining forces a back a little bit, so he couldn't storm them from the high ground, this way I contained him.

I scouted the map for expansions and there were none, then  I started mining my natural (transferred a lot of Probes form my main, since I had been building them almost all the time). I had enough gas now, so I build about 4-5 Observers, keeping a good watch with them all around the map, including X'Z~BoNgeRFiXeR's main. I also expanded at the bottom middle and bottom left mains... I guess I was being a bit too cautious, I could have finished him without those expands I guess.

Then thanks to one of my observers I saw him trying to expand to the bottom right island, and I quickly sent a Shuttle with a Reaver there, it was quite a disaster for him since At that time he was cannoning my natural and he didn't react to the Reaver attack - 7 Probes that he had brought with his shuttle got blown away by a single scarab, and his warping Nexus got wasted too...

A brilliant collage of a Reaver destroing some sort of crap

Indeed he wasn't happy about it and said I was cheating. =]

Notice gosu scouting now that I have 5 Observers heh :)Minimap update:

You can see some blue spots at the high ground of my natural, I guess that's why there were 7 probes in the shuttle :) He left one on my ledge to build some cannons, and I was too lazy to bring reavers up there, so I just transferred the workers to my new Nexuses. I wasn't taking him seriously already, since he called me a hacker numerous times...

Then my Observer at his main helped me spot a Shuttle going West, I dispatched some Dragoons to try and take it down, but they were too slow and didn't manage to intercept it, so X'Z~BoNgeRFiXeR probably didn't even notice them.

Looks like a close game ;)He wasted more of his resources cannoning his own natural to drive away my Dragoons, but as you can see on the minimap, I still had 2 of them  that informed me he didn't have the courage (or the minerals) to expand there. As you probably noticed as well, after loosing some time to pull out my Dragoons I finally found out what that Shuttle I had seen was up to - that optimist was expanding to the upper left island.

Well  there were bad news for him...

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo! :(((((

That "neee" as you probably guess is in Bulgarian and means "nooo". =] Pathetic... but wait, he is getting even more pathetic...

Won't make much sense to you

Obviously this was his last effort and he had no chances anymore... Now he wants me to ally with him, so he doesn't have a LOSS recorded... haha poor fella... ok live! Yes, I allied with him and the game ended in a draw, since that way he would know for sure that I wasn't cheating and that I just beat him fair and square...

Final notes:

I didn't really have in mind to BR this game, I just took screenshots because I wanted to send them to my opponent as proof that I was not cheating... I don't know if my English is OK, I've studied it since I was 5 but not seriously and I'm also REALLY LAZY. And the game sucked, I usually have much more fun games, since I play mostly Terran and I love to use a lot of Sci Vessels and Ghosts ;)

Lessons learned:

1. Reaver tech is more flexible than Templar tech in PvP

2. Observers own, no hack needed when you have such heh ;)

3. Cannons suck, don't build those early in the game, you won't have enough units and you'll be tied to the cannons, unable to attack

THIS HAS BEEN

Well I use the same image once again =[
