The Intro

If I did the images right, this thing should take awhile to load, but since you've all heard variations of that warning, I won't bother you with another one. Instead, I'd like to take this opportunity to say have fun, enjoy the show, and don't flame me too hard. :)

Last Wednesday, or thereabouts, I was trying to play a game. Since it was during "The Great Splitting Frenzy" (I like that term), I couldn't get a solid connection to either b.net or the internet period. When I finally did get a solid connection, no one was around. You all know the drill right? Anyways, slings was around, and was setting up a 1v1. I joined up with the classic phrase "me watchy!" and the game was started.

The first game was played on rivalry, with slings terran and his opponent, [HK]Ironcross, was toss. It was a total blowout, slings didn't even have a chance. He only held one expo (his nat) for about 10 minutes off and on the entire game. Needless to say, it was a slaughter. It wouldn't even be worth mentioning, but I have dedicated my life to making fun of slings :P

And now our feature presentation......

Rematch was heard after the game, and after some tips and such, it was made. The map of choice? What else, Lost Temple. Slings, being the Zerg nut he is, chose Zerg. Iron randomed to toss. As soon as I started taking notes, the players complained of lag and left the game. What a rematch huh?

Game 2.5

O.K. this will be their last chance. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

No so lost, ever found Temple Map: Bob's Obs Lost Temple (durn newbies nowadays)
Players: SlingsNArrows chose Zerg and planted his hatch at the 12 position.
[HK]Ironcross randomed to Terran, and received the 9 start.

A tvz on LT, with the terran at 9. It doesn't look good for Slings.

In the channel before the game, Ironcross was asking me about tips for playing tvz. I told him to pump infantry. In this game, he followed my advice, to some extent. His build order was a depot on 8, not for wallin, followed by a rax on 10, the refinery, depot, fac, acad. His goal: infantry. Methods: 1 rax. Effectiveness: to be determined.

Slings's build order was a little more practical, with an ovie on 8, 10 hatch at choke, a 12 pool, followed by gas and then a hydra den/lair combination. It looked like mass hydras and/or lurks from him.

Iron scouted with his depot scv I think, and scouted clockwise. By chance (actually it was just a large government conspiracy to always put zerg clockwise from terran), the little scv discovered Slings's main on the first try. What did he see? I'm just a nuclear little scv, don't mind me Deciding that this was nothing to be concerned with, Iron continued to tech up, plopping down a factory near his cc. As a side note, Iron left his scv in Slings's main to further scout, but Slings quickly found and eliminated the rascly intruder.

A lull in the game allows both players to build up their forces, with Iron continuing to tech and Slings fortifying his choke but strangely enough not taking his natural. Also during this time, Slings, for whatever reason, decides to send all of his lings (totalling about 8-10) south to the entrance to the 3 o'clock position. Wondering what kind of newbie Slings was, I continued to watch the game.

Kinslayer(tm), who was a fellow observer, had an noteworthy comment.

Sweet

Die!!!!!!!!!! Soon a squad of marines, 2 medics, 1 tank, and 1 scv pull up outside of Slings choke. The tank seiges up, and instead of targeting the sunkens or hatch, the tank begins to shoot at the lings below it. In an awesome display of micro, Slings pulls his lings backward out of the tanks range. Way to go Slings!

Slings quickly morphs 3 lurks at his choke, and coupled with the lings from the south, quells the "Tank Push". One interesting thing of this attack was a quote by Kins. Where'd you go, Yale? Well said Kins! You da man! Dork :P

During this attack, Iron has not been idle back home, and has added a starport and an engineering bay to his collection. In addition to tanks and m&m, Iron has produced a single wraith, which is terrorizing drones in Slings's main. I don't recall what happened to this wraith, but presumably it was shot down by hydras.

Slings, meanwhile, has taken this opportunity to finally expand to his natural. Finally

The silence was broken as Slings sends down about a control group of zerglings and 3 lurkers to the 9 choke point. Iron, however, had the majority of his force planted at the 9 mineral only, and fairly easily smashed this attack with minimal losses.

About this time, Frozen~SCV, the other observer, pointed out that his bengalaas was doing the naughty with a group of marines. Perplexed, I looked where he indicated, and sure enough....... I came, I saw, I screwed. Jeez frozen, I didn't know you got so happy over those things. Remind me when your birthday rolls around ;)

After Slings's failed attack, Iron must've gotten real thirsty, because he set up shop outside of Slings's choke again. This time though, he made turrets in advance. Slings noticed this attempt fairly quickly though, and dispatched 3 lurks and a few lings to quell the uprising.

Doe, a deer, I shot last night.

It's time for a minimap update.

Ray, the guy that pumps my gas.

That battle wiped both players troops out for a little while, and a recess was put forth by the judge. Iron took this opportunity to expand to his natural.

Slings used the temporary armistice to perform one of the most gosu moves of all time, the 2 drone maynard! Me, 'n' him, got in a fight. Isn't that efficient?

Frozen, who was not a player but used the break anyways, informed me that his bengalaas had perished during the fight with the following cry.

Fah, is where I kicked his ass.

*Hands over tissue* We all loved him man.

(first attack) Enough with the mourning, on to the battle! Slings is the first to break the treaty with a force of 4 lurkers and 3 lings (what is it with this guy and 3's?). Instead of moving south of the barrier that runs northwest/southeast, Slings divides his force and sends the lurks along the north pass and the lings down the southern avenue. The lurks run into a small infantry division and immediately burrow. The results: 3 live lurks, a lotta dead infantry.

Being the gosu player that he is, SlingsNArrows decides to burrow the lurks evenly spaced around the 9 mineral only instead of pressing the attack. Good thing too, because a large contigent of terran ground troops were waiting for them.

You might be a redneck if...

Feeling safe with his containment, Slings begins a queen's nest in his main. At this point I figured he was teching to cracklings or guardians, though the first was more practical as he had not begun a spire.

Iron was not content to sit in his base with his growing army, and began pushin out of his base with the aid of the many science vessels he had begun to produce.

During this move, Frozen inquires if I had gotten any pics of his "noble bengalaas before his noble demise". I established that I had, in fact, gotten pics of the bengy which you already know by now.

You see a sign that says say no to crack and it reminds you to pull your jeans up.

This time, being the every cautious player, Iron begins a tank push from his natural, only to have it brought to a screeching halt by a few well placed lurkers.

If you've had to climb to the top of a water tower to defend your sister's honor.

Slings's ultimate plan is unveiled, as he begins production on *drum roll* the mighty UTLRA CAVERN! Woah! Gosu, ultras own the hell out of infantry. At the same time, a science vessel patrols over Slings's choke and natural, but not the far left portion of his main. Grinning its mischevious smile, the sv begins to irridiate poor drones, much to the chagrin of Slings. Actually, I doubt he noticed it because it did a grand total of jack shit.

If you refer to your wife and your mother in law as duel air bags. Time for an expo update. Slings currently has his main which is nearly dry, and his natural. He is soon to expand to the 3 main though, so he has no resource problems that I'm aware of, other than using them effectively. Slings's units of choice so far has been mainly lurks and lings, with a few token hydras thrown in. Iron has his natural and his main also, and will expand to his mineral only shortly. He has produced nearly every unit so far but valks, dropships, bcs, and ghosts. He is producing from two starports, one factory, and 4 barracks.

Frozen, in a moment of dazzling clarity, realizes his lifelong dream with a single line. If you own a mobile home and 14 cars that aren't.

Meanwhile, the ultra cavern has completed and Slings promptly begins production on 2 of the giants. As soon as theyre finished hatching, he sends them, a few lings, and 2 lurkers down to Iron's mineral only to see what kind of havoc he can create.

If somebody asks for your I.D. and you show him your belt buckle.

As you can see, Slings managed to do some damage, but the terran force was too strong. Frozen, demonstrating his mastery of sarcasm, commented on the battle. Frozen, you're weird ok? :P

After comparing the two mains and tech, I make the following observation. Hey, isn't that what I'm here for? :)

Ain't I funny?
Iron, for the third time, sets up shop outside of Slings's choke, and this time it's not smashed at the very beginning. I'll let the pics tell the rest.

S.I.N.G.L.E.

Kins, ole buddy ole pal, that would be true if he had used them :) This fight marks the turning point in the game, as Slings finally has the upper hand in forces, strength-wise AND number-wise. In retaliation, Slings launched a massive counterattack against Iron, which succeeded at pushing the terran forces back from the mineral only to the natural.

Stay Intoxicated Nightly, Get Laid Everyday.
Worthwhile? You be the judge Having managed to fend off that attack, Iron decides to pull the super gosu turbo newbie! Unfortunately, he does it to the 3 natural, which has been unoccupied all game.

Without knowledge of this fruitless endeavor, Slings launches yet another attack upon the terran contingent. This attack is less damaging, however, and is repelled with heavy casualties to both sides. Slings isn't down for the count yet, and has another trick up his sleeve.

Beatdown!

After experiencing this battle, all I can say is that science vessels own the crap out of guardians. This attack was useful, however, in cracking open the natural so the ultras could progress easier.

That would be game.Iron

attempts to expand to the 6 o'clock natural, only to be clobbered by a control group of lings.

During one of the many firefights that went on, my pics maxed out and I had to change them. Right before I did however, I noticed something unusual. A d-matrixed ultralisk! OMG! What a misclick! Unfortunately, I had ran out of pics right before that, so I don't have one to present to you. Sadly, the ultra died to a handful of infantry.

After whacking the expansion attempt of Iron's, it was only a matter of time and the amount of force applied. Instead of rambling on with details, I'll just present a pic. Bon apetite.

This was the first attack in which Slings had succeeded in reach Iron's main, and it was also the last. Iron must have run out of resources, because none of his now 7 barracks were producing. A round of GG's were exchanged along with a cry of "tips in the channel!"

Being the stupid redneck that I am, I neglected to get pics of the scores, but they were fairly even, with Slings having the slight edge due to buildings razed.

In my view, this battle showed some interesting tvz ideas, with Iron's main fault was not pressing his attacks when he had the chance. Had he, I woulnd't have spent so much time on this, you wouldn't be reading this, and the game would have been over 20 minutes ago. Such is the breaks. It also shows the effectiveness of the ultralisk in combatting terran infantry, a tool that few zerg players utilize, favoring lurkers and guardians.

Anyways, I promised some people I'd show you babes. So here goes! ;)

Hubba hubba

Yummy. Just for kicks, another one.

What a beauty

Omg, I could get banned for this but it's worth it ;)
