bLiNd vs. Soul

There's nothing like a good ol' Age Of Empires clan war. For all of you who don't know what Age Of Empires is, it's a strategy game. Involving 12 civilisations from way back, you have to conquer your opponent with that civilisation's units and attributes and stuff.

bLiNd, is my clan. bLiNd_mE is me, and i started bLiNd clan. We are all Experts at the game, and don't really have to worry about beating other clans. But Soul is a good clan... I knew that and we were rivals since bLiNd started (that's because i have a big mouth ;)). Soul caught me online last friday, and wanted a Clan war. It was sketchy, but i said yes. I told him to get a partner from his clan, coz i had one. bLiNd_bIzKiT. Supa Xpert. But... Soul didnt have another member on. 1v1, me and Soul_Annihalator.

We got into the game on the Microsoft Internet Gaming Zone, and started a game. I was about to get an @$$ whoopin, i thought.

We got into the game, and i gave him my usual pre-game smart-ass talk to piss him off. I dont know why i do that, i just do. He picked his civilisation, Choson, and we decided it should be a Choson War. The Choson civiliation is probably the least expensive of the 12 civilisations, and great for large batch attacks. Their Double Legion Hit Points are great! Legions are hand-to hand combat units, for those who don't know, and are usually weak. Since Choson Legions are double the strength of any other Civ, which makes chozy great!

Now a Choson war means only legions. Legions, Towers and barracks are all that's allowed to be built for the military. It makes the game fast and action packed, which i think most people like. After we clicked in, i started the game. And this is the tale of how it went.

The Game

It started off with my regular strategy. I built 3 Town Centers (buildings that you pump villiagers out of, your basic and vital building) with 1 Villiager (a unit specifically for building units, repairing units and gathering resources) and sent the other 2 villis to build barracks (the building your legions come from) in the center of the map.

I must say i was pleased with the map, as i got the good side. It was blocked by 2 patches of trees to either side of my Town Centers a bit ahead of them, which gave protection to my barracks from attacks to the side. Yay! I only had to tower (towers are units that fire missiles at incoming enemies) the front and back or my raks!

Back home i had another villi pumped out, and i sent him t build houses at the side of the TCs. My 2nd TC was done, which meant i could make some more villiagers! I created 2 more, and went up to my raks.

My barracks were coming along nicely. 2 had been made, so i clicked one and started the upgrade to long swordsman. I pumped a broad swordsman out of the other rak, and went back to town.

2 Villiagers were waiting beside the tcs. Another tc was build, so i created villiagers from each completed TC. I sent one of the free villis to build a temple and a storage pit, and the other villi to build a granary and a government center.

I went up to the raks and a broad swordsman was ready. I sent him out to the front of my barracks, to scout for any enemy barracks. He found 5 or 6 incompleted barracks, destroyed them and just as he turned into a long swordsman a sentry tower from in the distance started attacking. I went back to my barracks, about half build now, and pumped out as many long swordsmen as i could! This was gonna be interesting.

Back at the TCs 3 villis were ready, so i sent them to tower in behind my raks. They went while i noticed my temple, storage pit, granary and government center were all completed. I researched fantacisim (the necessary technology to get legions) from the temple, metallurgy (a technology which upgrades your legion's attack points +7) from the storage pit, upgraded to guard tower in the granary and researched ballistics (the necessary tech to get ballista towers) from the gov. center.

Back at my raks my long swordsmen were ready. I sent em all in to distract while i built my towers, so i could get ready to reach my population limit quickly. I would need some time, since only 2 towers were done! My barracks were all done now, so i made some swordsmen come out of all of em while my other batch went in to scout the scene.

All the research was done by the time i checked, so i build a single rak by my town and researched the legion upgrade. I clicked on my granary and researched for the ballista tower also. Ballista towers have a major advantage over guard towers, since they have more hit points, more range and many more attack points.

My barracks had a whole bunch of legions sitting there, just waiting to be used. I decided not to send them in yet, though. Most of the towers would be done, and i needed some more legions ready to give him a huge attack. So now my legion upgrade was finished, so i pumped a few legions out of my barracks and headed back to town.

All of my town was build. The villiagers there had nothing to do. So i took each one, and he built a farm. Farms are very important in the choson civilization, since you're gonna run through food fast. I created 3 more villis from the tcs, and they were going to be sent to build farms too. After i knew what was happening at my raks.

Annihalator had sent a batch of long swordsmen to attack my well built legions and towers. That was his first mistake. I sent my legions in to attack his, andn they killed them instantly. That attack made me mad, though. So i decided to expand my horizons to the side of the map. Since he was too busy worrying about dying, i had the advantage. he didn't even occupy half of his land! I sent 3 villis from the raks to build new raks to the side, to get ready for a 2 way attack.

My towers were nearly done at the back, so i sent 2 remaining rak villis to build towers at the center. This would prove to be a very good idea later in the game... Since he had a couple chances to get at my raks.

At home, the ballista tower upgrade was done, the farmers were farming and there were 3 fresh villis at my service. Click, Build, Farm. Click, Build, Farm. Click, Build, Farm. My villis were now farmers! Yay villis! I pumped out 3 more villis and went to see how my new military post was doing.

The 3 villis were doing ok, about 4 raks were made and i created some legions out of em. I took 1 of the 3 villis, and sent them to build a tc behind my new raks. Back at my old base, i had a good number of legions ready to attack. But it wasn't enough... I needed more! Badly! Throughout the whole time i've been telling this story, small rushes were sent to distract, but nothing major. Most people who play Age Of Empires know that if choson is going to get through ballista towers, it's by pop rushing the guy. Pop rushing is when you gather your population of legions (up to 200) and send them ALL in at once. Since ballista towers can only attack 1 legion at once, they do a poor job of defending mass attacks. I created more legions from those raks, and went up to see my new ones.

One of Annihlator's villiagers had accidentally stumbled across my new secret base! Of course he panicked... and sent his entire army after the raks. His army was about 50 legions by now... and they were all coming after my 15 new barracks and 4 legions. I pumped new legions out and hoped for the best. But this attack by him wasn't bad for me at all... Since his main base was left unguarded by legions after he sent them all to my new base, i could send my pop of legions at his base and only have to worry about towers! I had about 100 legions by now, and i sent them all in at once. I didn't have that much time to waste.

Back at the side raks, the 15 legions were out and fighting. About half of his army were occupied destroying the barracks, and half were fighting my 4 legions. I sent the 15 new ones in to fight, and pumped out 4 more. Meanwhile at the battlefield, my 100 legions were doing fine. The ballistas had killed about 2, but the legions were already through most of the barracks (Annihalator did a bad job of building) and at the towers by now.

I noticed at the side raks that Annhilator's legions were leaving the scene. To go defend the main base, i guess. But this worked out great. My fresh 15 had just been pumped out, and i had about 30 legions ready to fight. I sent them in to attack from the left, and watched the battle happen.

"Ummm... I gotta go eat. Cya" Said Soul_Annihlator. Yeah right! Eat? It just so happens you had to eat right when i was gonna kill you?

He didn't leave for a while, so i got an idea, If i moved all of my legions away from his base, it would make for a good screenshot making him look like a complete rook for quitting. So I did that, but it turned out he didn't quit. He pulled the plug! "Problem communicating with Soul_Annhilator" said the comp. He pulled the plug coz he was losing!

I guess there's nothing else to tell about the story... except the screenshot. He had a higher score than me because he had mined like 10000 gold and didnt pay attention to the game... The retard gave me some tribute before he left also. Anyways, that's my report. Hope you like it.
