INTRODUCTION
Hello to all... Once again, we have a match coming from the far desert dunes of Saudi Arabia, in a wonderfully played modem-match. My last report recieved a sad score of 5.5, and so I intend to at least bring this up to a 7.5. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this match; all of the one hour, 39 minutes, and 55 seconds of it. Indeed, you may question the length of this game. But both players decided to go for expansions and race up the tech-tree rather than face it off early, and that makes a GREAT battle report! Enjoy...
The match starts off with some interesting talk in the ready-room, with both players chatting about subjects of complete nonsense.
Raptor- Yo, hold two minutes, nature calls...

THE MATCH...
Well, after that festival of obsene language, both players were serious to defeat each other. At the same time, niether was willing to take any risks with an early attack.
Raptor decided to go for an early hatchery at his natural, BEFORE his spawning pool. He also sent his overlord south, trying to locate the base of his adversary. Lutarez on the other hand, started cranking out a ton of probes, followed by warping in two gateways. By this time, Raptor now had his spawning pool, an extractor, and 3 sunken colonies down below at his natural expansion. Lutarez decided to expand too, and warped in a nexus at his natural.
At this point, Raptor was still trying to locate the enemy base. The stupid overlord was commanded south, and then redirected towards the 3 o’clock starting point. Still no success. At this point, it was process of elimination. Raptor sent another overlord towards the 12 o’clock position, and smiled as he silently observed the enemy base. Satisfied, the overlord was sent back.
Raptor now pumped out a hydralisk den, another hatchery at his main, and now began troop production. He also upgraded his hydras and zerglings, and prepared for an attack from Lutarez. But Lutarez was content where he was, advancing the tech-tree and now pumping out dragoons.
Raptor decided that he’d better keep quiet and take the opportunity to expand. First, he upgraded the two hatcheries at his main to lairs, and researced all of the upgrades that came with it. Then, he morphed a few hydras into lurkers. Then, a queen’s nest and a mutalisk spire were spawned. Raptor also sent a lone drone to the 6 o’clock starting position to begin the expansion of his empire.
Lutarez kept his increasing his technologies, and soon had the mighty power of carriers. However, he knew that they were not enough to defeat Raptor’s swarm of hydralisks and mutalisks. Raptor now sent a queen to spy on the base of Lutarez. He glanced at the fleet beacon, and although he saw no carriers yet, he knew that they were coming soon. He immediately loaded up a small force of 8 zerglings in an overlord, and dropped them straight into the mineral lines of Lutarez’s main base.
Raptor- Surprise jack ass
Raptor- :) pathetic... letting all those pitiful probes die
Lutarez- Jerk!
Raptor- Poor baby...
Lutarez was pissed off as a dozen probes were decimated before his zealots, waiting at his choke point, could slice up the zerglings. Raptor was content at his success, and laughed out loud. In response, Lutarez warped in a ton of photon cannons all around his base. Raptor gazed at the new defenses calmly, and now went for a hive, and then a greater spire... He was going for guardians. This new force of 5 guardians arrived to the west of Lutarez’s base, escorted by 4 devourers. They began wasting the out lying photon cannons before a large force of dragoons, supported by high templar and a single carrier forced Raptor to retreat.
Raptor decided to go for even more expansions now. The island in the upper left hand corner soon had a nice hatchery and drones sucking in valuable resources. Raptor’s other expansion at the 6 o’clock position was also very prosperous, and it made another hatchery down below at its natural. Lutarez also expanded wildly. He took the out lying minerals near his main base, and then went for the wealth of resources at the unoccupied 3 o’clock position. He also added another 50 photon cannons to his defenses. That’s right, around 50 of these things!!! He literally made a wall from the left of his main, all the way down to the natural of the 3 o’clock position. He depended so heavily on these cannons that Raptor was able to revert to new, hilarious tactics that were extremely efficient. Realizing that a direct assualt would be dangerous, he attacked strategic positions in well timed hit-and-run tactics.
First, a group of mutalisks were sent to the expansion on the outside of the 3 o’clock expansion. There he was met by a large force of dragoons, which were moving towards the main of the 3 o’clock position. Raptor immediatly backed off, and waited. The dragoons didn’t pursue or guard the expansion, but rather continued moving up to the 3 o’clock position! Raptor was amazed that the dragoons just left! They just left! He immediatly sent in the mutalisks to the unguarded expansion, and wasted almost every single probe there, before being chased off by the dragoons again. Raptor was laughing his head off at this point. In response, Lutarez did the only thing he could think of; build more photon cannons!!!!!
Raptor now concentrated his efforts in the upper left hand corner. Multiple times, he would send in guardians, only to be chased off by carriers and corsairs. At one point, he lost the majority of his airforce, and his island expansion was totally undefended. But rather pursuing, his carriers turned back, totally unaware of the island expansion!!! Again, Raptor was delighted. Lutarez was definately a newbie!!!
Raptor expanded again to the lower right hand corner, and the island expansion became his. He now owned the majority of the map, and his territory was in the shape of a giant L. Resources wasn’t really a problem now, and he continued to concentrate on attacking strategic targets. He loaded up two overlords with 4 lurkers, and carefully maneuvering them along the right hand side, dumped them right into the 3 o’clock expansion of Lutarez.

The lurkers completely tore apart every last probe from that site. Lutarez had absolutely no means of stopping the slaughter, since he relied so heavily on his photon cannons. The lurkers commenced to totally destroy the nexus and the assimilator, and the expansion was erradicated. With careful recon using his queens, Raptor observed that Lutarez was only mining from one expansion now... The minerals to the west of the 3 o’clock position, guarded heavily by photon cannons. The rest of Lutarez’s resource sites were exhausted, and Raptor knew that he was now winning by a large margin. Since his airforce was occupied in the northwest, Raptor decided to use the most powerful zerg unit; the defiler.
He spawned 3 of these sadistic creatures, and then evolved plague and consume. Aided by a pack of 16 zerglings, the defilers casted darkswarm on the bulk of the photon cannons. The zerglings easily zipped in and tore the useless structures to shreds. It wasn’t until a few zealots and dark templar were summoned did the zergling rampage stop, and only after a dozen photon cannons were destroyed.
Raptor saw that this attack was very successful, and continued to pressure that location. Masses of zerglings, defilers, hydralisks, and lurkers were burrowed in the center of the map. The attacks continued, and there was nothing Lutarez could do to prevent the impending doom. To make sure Lutarez didn’t send air reinforcements, Raptor continued to perform hit-and-run strikes in the northwest, from his island base. Another hilarious thing Raptor did was place numerous parasites on Lutarez’s probes. Lutarez was of course, forced to kill the workers, to Raptor’s pleasure. Raptor then commenced to parasite Lutarez’s carriers... You wouldn’t guess what Lutarez did then... He suicided his carriers right into Raptor’s airforces! Only after he suicided 3 carriers did Lutarez decide it was useless, and allowed the parasited carriers to live.

Eventually, Lutarez’s last resource base fell from a massive attack of ultralisks under the cover of darkswarm. Desperately, Lutarez sent in a group of dragoons, which pitifully died from the mass melee units. Soon, the nexus was razed. However, Lutarez was not going to give up hope just yet. He cranked out a few carriers, and was able to retake the location. A new nexus was warped in, and his economy was flowing again. However, he soon ran out of minerals from that site too, and was forced to move to the natural of the 3 o’clock position. Lacking the money to build a new nexus, he had to get his workers to travel all the way back to the nexus until he could afford a new nexus. Raptor saw this, but honestly didn’t believe it. He couldn’t be that helpless...
Raptor- How come your probes are mining funny???
Lutarez- What do ya mean?
Raptor- You’re out of minerals...
Lutarez- Well, you’ve got no problem harvesting gas... You’ve got vespene flowing from your ass!
Raptor- You are a newbie! Admit it!!!
Lutarez- We’ll see....
Lutarez, in his desperate situation, was finally able to get the new nexus built, but only after diverting a large portion of his defense fleet. He then expanded back to the main 3 o’clock position which was previously destroyed by lurkers. And guess what... More photon cannons were warped in!!!
Raptor tried to do the same thing, and send in lurkers. However, the overlords were intercepted by a group of corsairs, and barely escaped. Raptor then sent in a group of scourge to wipe out 3 carriers positioned over the 3 o’clock natural, and successfully blew them from the sky. However, Lutarez concentrated most of his defenses on these new, valuable expansions. Raptor decided to go for a direct assualt at Lutarez’s main. More and more hit-and-run attacks were initiated at the expansions of Lutarez, supported by darkswarm from the defilers. Lutarez responded by sending even more of his fleet to the defense of the resource sites. But these attacks were just a distraction. Up in the left hand corner, Raptor accumulated 30 devourers, 16 scourge, and 20 guardians. Raptor was unsure of the state of Lutarez’s fleet, since he pulled his carriers out of range (not to be parasited), but he assumed that it was now divided across the map and the time for an attack had come.
First, the guardians assualted the “Great Wall” of photon cannons. Immediately, 12 corsairs and 8 carriers zipped into the fray. At this point, it was total mayhem. Scourge ripped through the hulls of the carriers, exploding them in a brilliant flash of blue energy. The devourers totally wasted the corsairs, and Raptor had the air superiority he needed. The guardians swept in, unopposed, and tore through Lutarez’s main base. As soon as the stargates were destroyed, Lutarez knew that it was over. Without air support, his mighty wall of photon cannons would stand no chance, and his valiant ground army would be worthless. Not surprisingly, Lutarez surrendered, ending this incredible match in victory for Raptor.
Lessons Learned...
>>A good offense is a good defense; especially for the Zerg
>>A defensive Protoss is a dead Protoss... Lutarez had virtually no offensive at all!!! Many times, Raptor’s expansions could have been attacked, and they had minimal defenses. But Lutarez allowed the Zerg player to expand across the map unoppossed, and that was his fatal mistake. Raptor’s forces were being pumped at an incredible rate from multiple hatcheries, and this was too much for the Protoss player to handle.
>>>Drops rule... Lurker drops are very effective, though it is surprising why Lutarez never attempted a Reaver drop.
>>>Mind control on the Zerg is ineffective. Multiple times throughout the game, Lutarez used Dark Archons to mind control some units, but against the sheer swarm of the Zerg, it did nothing to stop his on coming defeat.

The map in the mid-game... Notice Raptor owns most of the territory, and if you look closely, you might notice the massive amounts of Lutaruz's photon cannons... and he kept making MORE!!!
The only picture I could catch of one of my expansions... Sorry, it was a tense match!!! (kind of one-sided though)
