| Two Zerg (Forgery white at 4:30, me purple at 3:00), one Terran (orange), Ground | | | Author: | | | IP: | XXXX | | Date: | 05/08/99 06:05 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | Starcraft(1), Text Only(1) | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 1, Max: 5, Min: 5 Lifetime Rating for Poeir: 4.5000 | | Again, I figured "Oh, great, I got Zerg," as they're my worst race. This turned out to be most fortunate, however. I started with the same build (3 new Drones while Overlord explores north to the corner, then used Zerglings to explore northwest, west, southwest, south, and southeast, center). One of my Zerglings located a very unprepared Forgery, building a Spawning Pool and a Hatchery. I quickly did an about face with all of my Zerglings, sending them to eliminate the Spawning Pool and all but one Drone. They also took out the secondary Hatchery. Forgery disapproved, of course. ;) I was nice and left the original Hatchery, even though I'd already expanded once and was starting to wonder if I should again. I did not do this too soon, however; instead building a Hydralisk Den and researching Burrow. Soon afterwards, I also upgraded to Lair.
The Zerglings then continued westward, locating orange. I attempted to attack him, but died to several marines. He then made a comment to the effect of "Rushing's cheap," though I don't recall it precisely. I did get a fair chunk out of his Barracks, however, probably enough that the repairs were fairly costly. Burrow finished researching around this time.
It was then that I decided to expand, but had put the other two players far enough behind that I could do this safely, even with only four Hydralisks as fighting units! One of my Drones went to the northwest corner, and what should appear but white's expansion! I sent three Hydralisks to dispose of it, burrowing the Drone as it was under attack, eventually dwindling this down to only one so I'd have some defense at home. I also researched Lurker and built one during this time (it takes a LONG time to destroy a Hatchery with only one Hydralisk). Finally, I built my Hatchery, which was publicized by Forgery, as well as my other expansion. This would later have to stand the wrath of orange. Soon afterwards, Forgery had to leave due to a friend coming online.
Here, I built a Spire as orange had said he was going for Marines, and I figured the Glave Wurm would help against M&M. I also turned my eyes toward a Queen's Nest, figuring Ensnare couldn't hurt. It turned out to be better than that, as soon afterwards two scouting Zerglings were attacked by Firebats en route to my northwest expansion! The fresh three Mutalisks swiftly disposed of the single Medic and Marine, reigning terror on the Firebats. Not a one of them survived this assault, even though my northwest Hatchery did take some damage. Unfortunately, a squad of Marines arrived on the scene to take out my Mutalisks, forcing me to retreat to a Queen, which Ensnared the party. More Mutalisks came, and this assault was also defeated.
At this point, I dropped, and talked to my opponent afterwards, and we agreed that I would have won. |
