Wow, now this was one helluva battle. Unfortunately I got so wrapped-up into this game, I didn't think about pics until way late so I decided to go w/o.
The game began with me warping in at 6. I began with a simple 1 gate + 1 cannon wall-in at my choke. I was the first to be found and I chased his scv to make sure there wouldn't be any bunkers. When I felt his scv was leaving, I brought my probe back considering I already had one out scouting. My scouting probe encountered 1 scv and 4 marines heading from the 12 spot. I immediately qued my second zeal, and sent the first one out in search of the scv. I had the scv down to 5 when my zeal was killed. I sent my newly warped zeal out and finished the job, but this brave soldier also lost his lifeforce. At this point the 3 marines left are re-enforced with quite a few more marines and I am forced to re-enforce my ramp with another cannon.
I continue my build towards dts and once my cyber starts to warp I see a bunker being constructed below my choke. I send my 3-4 zeals down only to be greated by 1 already constructed bunker and 1-2 turrets + medirines. Uh OH!!! So I warp a cannon on my ridge hoping it's in range of the "new" bunker, it isn't. ;-( Well dt's are now out and I see a bay going up outside my choke, which is soon floating as a spotter. I warp in 3 gates bringing my total to 4 and begin goon production.
When the 4 warp in I send them plus my 3 zeals out. Unfortunately my goons get stuck on the ramp and I lose my zeals. I see a tank coming in so I move and shift-attack the tank. I manage to bring it down before it is able to seige. Once I get 6-7 goons I move and shift-attack again. I am greated by a seiged tank, but with some concentrated fire, it goes down. The bunkers also are removed and through concentrated fire on meds, the medi-rines also fall when my forces are re-enforced. At this point I send about 4-5 goons and 4 newly made dt's at his main. I am met with a nice, REAL nice wall-in and turrets. I also see that he has expanded. I lose 1/2 my force, but I manage to send a probe to 3 and to 9 spots. I begin 2 expansions at once.
There is still a bay above my natural so I build 2 stargates and get a couple of cors to take it down. I start making templars now too. I have 4 dt's blocking the path to my 9 expansion that run into a convoy heading to my expansion. I kill most of the convoy before a scan. I manage to save one dt and run him into my base. I que up 4 more zeals and watch as the tank goes into seige and begins to pound my cannons at the expansion. Once the zeals warp I send them right away. I wait until they are almost the before I send in the dt. I manage to clear the threat
About this time 3 dropships full of 4 tanks and 6 rines and 2 meds drop on my 3 expansion. Thankfully I hadn't got it really going yet and all I lose is the nexus and a couple probes. I took this opportunity to send a temp to my 9 expansion. I take this opportunity to expand to my natural and start an expansion at the SE island. I have observers positioned everywhere and have to assume he has taken the top island. He tried to drop my 9 expansion with the dropships, but my templar was waiting and 2 storms later my zeals clean up.
I then pump zeals and run 12 to the 3 spot and find nothing. I try to send them at his gimme without any luck. At this point I see his plan. He brings out his forces.... 3-4 BCs, 12 or so gols, and like 8 tanks and svs. UH OH!!! I have some temps, 12 more zeals, and about 8 corsairs. I send what I have and while I engage, I storm the HELL out of the BCs. I switch to scouts and goons with arb support. By now I send in an observer and find a nice spot to recall my reavers+goons+zeals+scouts. I send in 2-3 scouts and a couple cors followed by the arb. He must have concentrated on the arb because it went down- QUICK!! I did see him pumping the ghosts now.
The shortened rest of the game including some VERY nice lockdowns, causing me to switch to zeal production. There were a few more AWESOME battles in the middle. I cannoned the middle and tried to hold my ground. We both lost quite a bit, but with all my cash coming in I was able to overwhelm him. As I attacked his main, I found empty bunkers and a "gg" was given.
Notes on the game:
He had placed his tanks and gols in such a way that I couldn't storm, even baiting the tanks.
Gols+SV+BC+Tanks... nuff said!
Had he expanded aggressively, he would have won. He sat back idle while I expanded. On that note, it is nice to start 2 expansions at once. It makes it difficult for both to be attacked.- Unfortunately it also make it difficult to guard.
I REFUSED TO MAKE CARRIERS!!! Although I had the cash flow, I purposely did not go carriers and "Clean the board"
Sorry for such a long post, it was quite the epic game and I still didn't give it credit. Oh well, some day I'll get some pics with my post. It also would have been nice to see his GREAT bunkering and nice attack force.
