1st~Tsunami vs. AgEnT_nO.1
The Showdown of Gosuness: Episode I

Setting: Recently, I have been debating whether to do "The Twilight Zone" and I know everyone's like "whatever". Try going and hanging out in the torture chamber known as StarCraft Newbies for more than 5 minutes. I've done that for hours at a time looking for atleast one newbie that can understand the concept of an observer game and it isn't fun to say the least. But anyway, I've been trying to get one of those games going for a long time and I got really tired of it after not being successful.

So, I decided to use a new series that I am calling "Showdown of Gosuness" where I will feature 2 skilled players battling it out. I decided to go to the dreaded "clan -x17" arena. I figured this would be a good break from all those freakin' newbies(no offense to the newbies). After being in there all night...switching back and forth between channels, I see 1st~Tsunami walk in the front door, or rather appear at the bottom of the list. Aparently he had just returned from a game so I figure, who better to play??

After listening to his conversation to some of the other members in there, I hear him say the name of the game he's going to play in. I realize that practically everyone is going to join that game so I type it in as quick as I can, and luckily enough get a spot! After realizing he's doing a 1v1 with AgEnT_nO.1 (I had seen him on sites before but didn't really know who he was), I say if this is a good game I'll BR it. So after that, the countdown began and the game begun!

The Map: Lost Temple
1st~Tsunami (chooses Zerg, 3)
AgEnT_nO.1 (chooses Zerg, 6)

Since both players choose their races, they should both know what they're going for. Tsunami's build order goes like this: hatchery (in main), spawning pool, and then gas. Agent builds: hatchery (at expo), spawning pool, and then a third hatch (in main).

After building a Lair, Tsunami sends the zerglings he is producing down to sit outside Agent's natural expansion. While this is happening, Agent gets gas and then a Lair.

Tsunami seems to be heading the mutalisk route, which becomes aparent when he builds a Spire in his main. Agent sees this with an overlord that is hanging around over his base and would seem to shift his strategy, or alter it a bit, to prepare for mutalisk defense.

Tsunami also has an overlord over his opponent's base, taking note of what Agent is going for so he can build his units accordingly.

While keeping his opponent contained with zerglings, Tsunami sends a drone over to his natural to begin a hatchery.

It's my guess that Agent realizes that he will never get mutalisks in time to face Tsunami's mutalisks. Instead, he builds an evolution chamber for spore colonies as well as upgrades, and a hydralisk den for mobile defense of the mutalisks.

Instead of building hydralisks immediately, Agent continuously builds zerglings for defense of his natural expansion. For early mutalisk defense he builds spore colonies at his main.

It would seem as if Tsunami almost had a rally point from his hatcheries down in front of Agent's expansion. The army of zerglings increased in size, but it never got large enough to push into Agent's base.

Tsunami didn't waste any time, however; he began building his army of mutalisks with what gas he had.

Aparently these two had played before, because when Tsunami sent his first army of mutalisks down to Agent's main base, he saw his spore colonies and says "Good boy, you learned ^^". Realizing trying to break through the spore colonies was futile with what mutalisks he had, Tsunami retreats them back to his main base and continues to build up his zergling force, deciding to concentrate more on ground.

In the next move of the game, Tsunami sends his army of zerglings in for an all-out attack on Agent's natural expansion.

I apologize for the fuzziness of this little clip, it's my first time using it and I wasn't planning on making a movie out of that attack. Please let me know if it didn't work or something.

Anyway, Agent had a sufficient amount of sunken colonies and zerglings to defend Tsunami's attack, as you can hopefully see in the clip.

After the attack, Agent decides to dominate the ground of the map and builds hydralisks, morphing some of them into the additional support of lurkers.

Tsunami begins to produce mutalisks after resecuring his seal-in position after his failed attack. He kills the overlords that were still hanging around over his base with them, and then sends the mutas down to harass some of Agent's peons and ovies!

When the mutalisks arrive, Agent has already produced a large amount of hydralisks which he used to force the mutas to retreat. Now, another kind of attack has been taking away from Tsunami's options, mutalisks.

Tsunami realizes this, and begins to build lurkers, in an attempt to control the ground, and seal Agent in even further. He sends the lurkers down to support his zerglings who are still right outside Agent's natural.

Now, Agent realizes he needs to escape in order to take the upper hand in the game.

He sends his hydralisk/zerglings/lurker army out in an attempt to break out of the seal-in he knew he was in. Agent quickly realizes, however, that he is outnumbered and overpowered and pulls his army back to the safety of his expansion before they are totally destroyed.

After the battle is over, Tsunami sends a drone out to expand to his mineral only expansion. Thus leaving him 3 to 2 mineral wise to Agent.

During a sort of cool-off time, Tsunami decides to shoot up the tech tree by constructing a queen's nest. After his construction of that, he pauses the game leaving a bored group of SC gamers...and you know what that leads to, comments.

When Tsunami unpauses the game, I take the time to look at each player's upgrades: Agent: 0-1, Tsunami: 0-0.

Agent had upgraded his ranged ground attack but not his melee attack, and Tsunami hadn't upgraded at all. I realize that Tsunami, instead of getting early upgrades, builds a Hive and is going for guardians.

Since he has Agent sealed into his base, Tsunami sends out another drone to expand to the 12 o'clock main base, increasing his economy.

In a frantic little dance type-o-thing, Agent's hydralisks try to break out of their prison of lurkers and zerglings. They move forward, take some shots, and retreat, trying to get Tsunami to follow them into the deadly sunken colonies. He never takes the bait, however, and Agent is forced to give up his attempts.

After that's over with, Tsunami morphs his Spire into a Greater Spire in preparation for building his guardians. At about this same time, Agent gets a normal Spire, in preparation for his first air units of the game.

Tsunami, while waiting out the long, painful process of building a Greater Spire, expands to 12 o'clock's natural.

Ah finally, the Greater Spire has completed, and Tsunami begins his morphing of guardians behind Agent's natural expansion.

The guardians morph in and begin to harass the peons, shooting whatever the heck it is that they shoot, at them. After Tsunami killed about 10 drones, Agent moved them away to prevent the rest of them from being killed and sent his newly produced mutalisks to destroy the guards. Luckily for Agent, Tsunami hadn't planned on encountering any mutalisks and didn't include air defense with his guardians. The mutalisks had no trouble dealing with Tsunami's guardians.

After Tsunami let out his murmurs of how stupid he was, Agent sent his mutalisks up to attack Tsunami's natural expansion. This turned out to be a very good move on Agent's part because it temporarily slowed down his opponent's economy. Tsunami had all of his troops positioned outside Agent's base so he had nothing to defend with except newly produced units.

Using his brain, and reflexes, Tsunami burrowed his drones before the mutalisks could kill a really large amount of them. And since Agent didn't bring along any overlords with him, he continued to move up along into Tsunami's main base. Once they got there, they see the newly produced spore colonies and retreat all the way back to their own main base.

Some weird stuff starts to happen. Agent sends just his mutalisks, excluding his huge army of hydralisks, to attack Tsunami's forces outside his base. This confused me...along with all the other observers. He retreats them back into the safety of his main base after he realizes it's a completely one-sided battle using only mutas. Agent keeps his mutalisks mobile, and sends them up to Tsunami's natural expansion again, destroying some more drones before they're burrowed again.

Seeing that no forces are coming to defend the expansion, Agent completely destroys it with his mutalisks leaving nothing but the drones. After finishing that expansion, he moves on to Tsunami's mineral only expansion, destroying that as well.

This clip might take a minute to d/l but by the time you get to this part of the BR you should have it done.

Tsunami, not liking his missing expansions, sends his entire army in an all-out attack on Agent's main base. The sheer numbers of Tsunami's forces overrun their opposing forces and run deep into Agent's main base, destroying everything in their path. This marks the end of the game.

Lessons Learned

1) 1st~Tsunami is a very gosu player ^^
2) This little fish I bought just sits there and does nothing.
3) Expansions = resources, resources = troops, troops=wins
4) Clips aren't as hard to do as I thought

I hope you enjoyed reading this report as much as I enjoyed watching it. Thanks to both players for letting me obs, GG!
