In my first BR, I said that I disconnected on a terran turtle. I got some adverse comments on that. First of all, I didn't want him to get the win. Second, I don't normally do that. Third, I promise I wont do it again.
The game started out as a 2v2 on some copy of huge Hunters that really stunk. Anyway, we only had two people, so we just decided to fight comps. I forgot what my ally's name was, so ill just call him LZNG for Lame Zerg Newbie Guy. I started out at the top middle and he started out at the bottom right. Since we were fighting comps, I built a million photons at my entrance and then 6 gates. I built two more forges to bring my total up to three, so I could upgrade faster.
About this time, I looked over at my allies base. Like any newbie, he was concentrating on teching up instead of unit production. I realize that sometimes you have to tech up a lot for certain units, the problem was that he didn't even have any defense or units to guard his base. He had lost all his zerglings in a previous skirmish with the comp. I warned him to make some D real quick and politely told him make some more units. He responded by sending 2 drones over to my base and building a hatchery!
I said "hey, cancel the hatchery, there is nothing wrong with your base."
He said "no"
I said "yes"
He said "no"
I said "why not"
He said "you have awesome D"
Oh well. As long as he didn't make too much creep. I realized that my normal strat of mass 'goons wouldn't work well if I was fighting 2 comp practically by myself. So, I built a Citadel of Adun and a templar archives and started cranking out templars. Then, my strategy began to come to a head. I qued up more templars and merged the ones I had into archons. All the while, I was quickly upgrading, thanks to my 3 forges. I continued this way until I had about 3 and a half squadrons of Archons. (Yes, a squadron is 12, as a reply to a comment in my last BR). Here is a look at half of my Archon force(it was completed yet) along with a guardian and a defiler from my ally. Wow. He finally built some units.
Anyway, I was soon ready for my attack. Since I had all my Archon squadrons hotkeyed, I simply hit #1, a(for attack move), and then clicked. First, we took out the protoss comp at the top left and middle. Then we, moved on. Oh yeah, I better give credit to my ally for the guardian he sent to help with the protoss base. Here is a look at my archons in action. They're spectacular, aren't they?
Because it took me so long to make my Archons, the comp had bases at every single expansion on the map. Not that that presented any trouble, really. It just took a long time.
So the end result is this:
· I got another win, along with my highest score ever: 347,667
· LZNG figured out that he wasn't that good
· I've patented the ARCHON RUSH!
I would like to make a note however. The ARCHON RUSH is more of a FLOOD, in the words of LZNG. And, according to Wedge88, a rush is by definition "mass amounts of a low tech unit used early in the game". That is true, and I agree totally. It is true that the Archons were pretty high tech(and not to mention cost!whew) and they definitely were not used early in the game.
I guess I am wrong in calling it a rush or a flood, but what else am I going to call it?(suggestions are welcome)
