Stranix vs. MidasKnight
This match was battled out for a 1v1 tao ladder game between
{TA}Stranix (Currently ranked #1 on Tao Ladder) and STV~MidasKnight,
the one who dares to give {TA}Stranix a loss after a long ladder winning
streak.
{TA}Stranix chose zerg and started at 6:00. STV~MidasKnight, selecting Protoss,
got his race and the starting position at 9:00.
STV~MidasKnight started off putting a few zealots in his choke to block off any zerglings
or drones that would want to pass by, as well as a battery meter behind the zealots followed
by a photon cannon. {TA}Stranix took the early expansion and a little more. As time progressed,
STV~MidasKnight used his time to build up a nice force of zealots while {TA}Stranix,
feeling lucky, went for a power hatchery build. He went for multiple hatcheries, which will
obviously become useful later on if STV~MidasKnight lets him build. Unfortunately, he did. STV~MidasKnight's
army was powerful enough to take out {TA}Stranix the first 10 minutes of the game. STV~MidasKnight moved on to
just outside his choke and placed a pylon there, along with a couple of photon cannons and about 9-10 zealots. Having this, he decided to
expand now before {TA}Stranix gets too big and doesn't let him. All this time handed to {TA}Stranix gave him enough time to
turbo expand.
Time went on as {TA}Stranix worked in getting drones and more hatcheries around 9:00's
natural expansion, .
STV~MidasKnight secretly took the expansion at 12:00 and besides building a nexus, he also
made a few gateways in order to make a brand new base in case his old one gets corrupt. STV~MidasKnight made a couple of corsairs so take out
his opponent's overlords, a strategy which would of worked well
had it been executed a litte earlier considering {TA}Stranix got gas pretty late.
After quickly taking care of the corsairs, {TA}Stranix went for a 5 hatchery build at 9:00. This
proves to you that he had too much money and is not using enough minerals on
units. He took care of this problem real quick by spawning a few guardians
floating on top of his heavy army of zerglings and hydralisks. At this point it
was nothing but spawning mixed units which is one of the greatest advantages
about succeeding in a power hatchery build.
{TA}Stranix gathered up his units, and at the same
time, sent mass zerglings and hydralisks from 6:00 straight to 12:00 to take out
his opponent's 3rd expansion, while sending all the units from his 3:00
expansion to STV~MidasKnight
's natural.
Here you see STV~MidasKnight's 12:00 expansion going to
waste, as {TA}Stranix sends the rest of his units to his
opponent's main.
