Introduction
It was another one of those days. My brain was melted from the combined pressure of homework, lack of sleep, and the stress of being a teenager. Battle.net seemed like the only thing to do, so I logged on, idled for about 10 minutes, and, not wanting to play, just watched a game. The map was Lost Temple, and as I entered, I found that they had both selected Protoss... oh great, same race match-ups, this'll be fun. I decided to give a shot at BRing for the 2nd time, even though I hate same race matchups. Anyway, I present to you...

VS.

A Protoss vs. Protoss Battle
Presented by:

Early Game
As I said, the two combatants had both picked Protoss.Radonn warped in his orange nexus at the 3:00 position, and Illuvatar was at the 12:00 start. They both started out with about the same double gate build (later on I found out that they had almost identical build orders). They both scouted each other and found one another at the first spot they checked. Orange's probe returned to base after finding his enemy. Red, however, decided to be a bitch and put an offensive assimalator on orange's geyser. With an upper hand on gas, Orange decides to max out his minerals and mass zealots.
After scouting the enemy, he decides to attack with some 6 zealots, as Red only has 3. Some good microing, along with the help of some courages probes, thwarts the attack just as radonn gets rid of the old assimalator and puts his own on. They both tech to goons when orange decides to hit Illuvatar once more, this time, a fleet of 4 zealots backed up by 2 goons is used. Once again, Illuvatar does a good job of microing, blocking off his choke, losing some forces. Eventually, he repels the attack and is ready to counter-strike.
Illuvatar Strikes!
Illuvatar and Radonn are continually massing goons from their 3 gates. Red has countered a few times from Radonn's first attacks, most of which have been repelled by Orange's defensive hold on his ramp. I notice that they have both started warping in a robotics factory, most probably for reavers.Illuvatar starts to mass up goons, realizing that he can not win this battle with a simple little band of goons. At this time Radonn has a shuttle and a reaver, and Red had just warped in a Robotics Factory and was working on the Support Bay. Orange then scouts with a goon, and it is killed immediately by the phase disruptors (is that the name of the goon's attack?) of about 20 some goons. Not wanting to lose the suprise element, Red decides to attack. Little did he know, however, that Orange possessed the goon killer also known as... the reaver. His attack was destroyed by this reaver backed by many goons to finish off what reaver splash didn't.
However, all was not lost. Illuvatar had expanded to his mineral only expansion, in the little corner hidden from the world. He had also built a forge for upgrading, as did Radonn. They both had observers, and were both assembling goon armies. Radonn finished warping in an expansion at his natural and his level 1 attack upgrades by the time Red had maynard transfered several of his probes to his mineral only natural and was mining happily. He also had lvl 1 Shield upgrades finished, and was upgrading the other lvl 1 upgrades from his two forges.
Things were not happy for long, as Red had decided to drop off two friends, a goon and a reaver, at Orange's minerals. Because of his tight building positions, this drop was a real pain in the ass, as he had to run all his probes. He had only started up his natural, so his economy was slowed tremendously. He finally was able to squeeze in enough goons to get rid of the peon assaulters. Orange resumed mineral gathering, but soon the end was near.

Ouch
The House of Pain
Orange was a little steamed about what just occurred, and decided to counter with a reaver drop of his own. Red, however, saw it coming, and a well placed cannon stopped Radonn's attempt. Red had observers scattered around, and waited for the time to strike, when Orange backed out of the safety of his ramp. He found this point in time and stormed his base. Coincidentally, Red had just gotten 111 upgrades, and Orange only had 001 upgrades. It started as goon vs goon battling, until Illuvatar moved in a reaver in a shuttle from his base. Radonn's natural expansion fell, and it was only a matter of time till he ran out of money. ][~illuvatar~][ was victorious. 'gg's were exchanged, and it had been just that, a very good game.

Lessons Learned:
- Reavers > goons: scarabs, especially when backed up by goons or when lodged on ramps, own goons with their power and splash.
- Goons are stupid: during goon vs. goon battles, there are two factors to winning. Only through good microing can you help those moronic goons get out of those nasty chokes and those height disadvatages. The other thing is upgrades. Although Orange had numbers, Red out-upgraded him.
- Expand, expand, expand:maybe I'm stating the obvious, but... expansions=$$$, $$$=units, units=victory.
Thanks for reading my second BR. COMMENT PLEASE!.. o yea, thanks go out to radonn and ][~illuvatar~][ for a gg, and to my friend, zodin, (aka 1-800-bgh) for telling me to put in the following picture:
