Sessions of Anxiety

Seeing as how my badly radiated SCV has fully recuperated (read my last BR) he has found himself ready to take on the duties of observing a new game.  He did show a little reluctance to leave the care of some 'over-attentive' Medics, but with a shrug of obligation he accepts the charge and we are off.

We find ourselves on the rather large world of Aurora.  I take a quick gander to find out who is here.  Hmmm, looks as if one of the contestants of my previous engagement, Vega, is sided with me on the table of observance.  I see the gritty and tenacious Aura in one corner facing off against Chron0Chron0 has faced Aura before and knows his task is not an easy one.

My Clients get Comfy

What? You not like my map? If you don't know Aurora, then go play some more!    As the game commences and I take stock of Chron0's Command Center landing in roughly the 5 o'clock position and Aura's newly morphed Hatchery at the lower center position, I rejoice and hear bellowing choruses that there are no gay, butt-blade, glue-sniffin Protoss here in this realm (not that I really have anything against them, they are just not here to defend themselves so I will pick on them for not showing up).

Alright, well, I have floated my CC, as I assume Vega has done the same, and started to whack off my SCV's.  I remembered seeing a comment on my last BR that answered the question of how to kill all 4 of them, so I am going to try that (yes, I am planning on murdering my brave SCV of last game!  heh, the Dr. can be cruel at times, eh?).  I have succeeded in killing 2 and am squaring my last 2 off for their own little gunfight when---Aaaaaccckkkk!!!  What the hell is this?  Vega has charged his own SCV's on the hunt for mine!  Oh, that bastard!    Argh, my last 2 SCV's are no match for his 4 (5, he just trained another one).  Grrr....

Well, the game is progressing and I have no time to spend trying to figure out how to avenge myself with my lone floating CC and 50 mins?  Ugh.  Damn you Vega, I will get you!

Hmmm, seems as though Aura has opted for a Hatchery and SpawningPool, and then another Hatchery to the immediate left expansion area.  Chron0 looks like he is going mass Marines&Medics sporting a double Barracks, Academy build.  Both of them are scouting like crazy, Overlords, lone zerglings and lone marines are peppered all over the map.  But it is a big map, and scouting is somewhat tedious.  Ah Ha!  Chron0 has found the Zerg Brood's main encampment, fires off one burst and quickly high-tails his ass right the hell out of there as a small horde of zerglings want to make mince meat out of him.  I find it quite funny that the lings lost him and are scampering about in a futile effort to find that scouting marine and end his existence.

The lings are satisfied, though dejected, to merely patrol their base as Aura has just hatched several Mutalisks and feels they will cover ground much more effectively.  The muta's start their task of flying all over the map.  More mutas are hatching in the Zerg base, but Chron0 has just finished his first tank and tasks it to accompany a control group and a half of mixed 'rines, bats and medics.  As Chron0's first attack force is leaving his base, they miraculously 'thread the needle' and miss being detected by a small pack of scouting mutas.  The mutas not only failed in their detection of the raiding party, but miss the Terran main base as well!  ( I am sure they missed it by only a matrix square or two, oh so close! )

The Plot Thickens

Charge!!!!!!!     The tank sieges up right outside the rear of the Zerg base next to the protecting wall.  I hear the 'ah, yeah' of stimming marines and firebats just as arclite fire begins reigning down on drones dutifully mining away.  Blood is spilled all over as the Zerg force consisting of lings and mutas converge on the threat .  Bloody, indeed it is.  With great effort for their Overmind Aura, the Zerg forces are able to quash the evil-intended Terran forces.  Of course, the Terrans had struck a blow.  The Spire has been destroyed, along with the Extractor and many drones.

Both leaders begin the rebuilding of their forces.  Aura morphs another Spire and starts a Queen's nest to join it.  Chorn0 goes for another factory and starts pumping Goliaths out of the first one.  He obviously noted there were more mutas than lings in his first encounter.  And Aura still has not found where the Terran threat is located!  After a polite comment of "Where the hell are you?!", Aura decides to look again in earnest.  A control group of mutas begin what looks like a 'shift move' and recommence the duty to FIND THAT DAMN TERRAN!

Uh, oh, this is going to be interesting.  It seems as though Chron0 has built another sizable force and has it on its way back to the Zerg base.  This force has a large group of marines, medics, bats and golitahs and is also accompanied by another tank.  This group is almost in position when Vega and I are seeing the large group of mutalisks on a direct trajectory over the non-turreted, bunkerless Terran main!  The mutas were on 'move', but had the sense to stop upon realizing they found the base and strike first.

The mutas start their reign of holy terror on the Terran base and Chron0 attacks with full zeal at the Zerg!  This is a simultaneous strike by both teams!  The battles are crushing at each side.  Mutas are raping the Terran base, SCV's are trying desperately to erect much needed turrets as each newly trained marine is only able to get a small volley of shots off before dying, ditto for the goliaths that emerge, but they get more damage in at least (As gay as those damn Toss are, where is that Storm when you need it!).  The Zerg base is faring worse, however.  There seems to be a goliath on steroids here.  He is destroying OL's, and well, hell, anything and everything!  Each team is slowly eroding the attack force of their counterpart, but it is slow going.

too many images! I can't keep up! both of them are raping each other!!! Aaaahhhhhh!!!!

Finally, when the dust settles, the

Zerg has no more main and the Terran main is in shambles.  There is still a considerable Terran force standing in the bloody, slimy mess of what was the Zerg starting base.  One unit happens to be a Goliath with about 11 kills!  We will call him Big-Meat-Head from now on.  All the attacking mutas have been destroyed.  Aura has constructed another pool at his expansion and has decided to start making some Creep Colonies with some of the extra drones he was able to save.

The victorious and battle hardened Terrans stumble upon the expansion.  (note here that Aura has instructed the morphing of another expansion immediately south of the Terran main!  This is very close and totally unprotected, at his new expansion he is quick to get another pool and den and another Hatchery).  The Terran forces lose some troops to newly morphing Sunkens, but raze the expansion to the left of the remains of the Zerg main.  Big-Meat-Head is still part of this group and now boasts 16 kills!

Go, go, gadget STIM!!!

Dammit, what are you doing, Vega?  I can see via OL's of Aura's that Vega is long distance mining across the entire map with his 5 SCV's.  How could he possibly be bored with all the action we just saw?  I scream some obscenities at him.  I think I am mostly just sore that he foiled my own murderous plans with his own (grumble, grumble).  I am going to have to do something about this insolence!  Aura chimes in with some of my complaints and Vega, reluctantly, kills off all but one of his crazy, maniacal, stronger-than-mine troops.  Again, Grrrr.....

Revenge is ours! <spike, spike> <spike, spike>     Chron0 began another CC  at the expansion right above him as soon as the mutas first attacked him.  And now has it up and running.  He rounds up all his troops and heads them to his main base, and good thing too!  Aura has been hatching hydras now left and right and has a good group dying to get a chance for revenge!  the hydras move up from their 'very close and daring' expansion and hit the Terran main hard.  The reinforcements can't get there quick enough and the Terran main falls.

Session Over

Hmmm, the tide is definitely changing here.  The Terrans were scouting on their way back, but failed to look to the immediate south.Aura is WHITE, duh!  This allowed for Aura to have the time needed for those hydras.  Aura also starts placing lone hydras at resource nodes throughout the map.  This reconnaissance proves invaluable as he now knows where the Terran expansion is and also destroys a lone SCV or two of Chron0's that I am sure had ideas of expanding.  The first hydra group to attempt to raze it is demolished by fresh marines, goliaths and medics.  Aura takes a moment to set up 2 more Hatcheries to morphing at expansions.

rat-a-tat-tat, all the single-file Hydras go SPLAT!     The Terrans start to try and make it south and hydras are trying to make it north.  The two collide several times, with the Terrans, led by Big-Meat-Head, making better ground as they seem to interrupt single file hydra charging (oh, single file rules doesn't it?).  But, Aura is quick to see his error in single file marching and stops the advancing Chron0 in the area of what used to be the Terran main.

Chron0 is forced to recuperate forces back at his new base.  Aura sees his opportunity and starts charging his hydras up to the Terran menace.  With a little observance by Chron0, we all note with surprise that Big-Meat-Head is still alive and has a total of 21 kills!  Wow.

Of course, it is all for naught, Chron0 can't make reinforcements as fast as the hydras are coming.  The hydras finally break through and they kill Big-Meat-Head!

Hey! We got one!!! Hoora---ack, ouch, ouch, <gurgle> spines... <gurgle>... <silence>     This totally demoralizes the Terran cause.  SCV's decide to avenge Big-Meat-Head and send themselves kamikazi style to the hydras.  We all mourn the death of Big-Meat-Head and Chron0 decides he has had enough and concedes the game.  Damn!  This is two games I have watched that Terran did so well, but could not prevail!  But still, I think it is totally obvious that the unit of the game is duly awarded to Big-Meat-Head!!!  21 Kill Goliath, kick ass!!

All bow to me! Big-Meat-Head. Who the hell gave me this stupid name?

Well, I have to go find another SCV to take charge of.  And I have to go chastise Vega for his total disruption of my plans!  I think I will spike his tea when he shows up for his next 4 o'clock session!  Hats off to both for a very exciting game.  Fast paced and furious.  GG to all (except Vega!!!  Grrrrr).    =P
