It was Sunday and I had some friends arround. We drank some wine and watched Adam Sandler in "The Waterboy". Eventually everyone buggered off and after seeing all those awesome tackles in the movie I decided to have a quick game of Starcraft. So I logged on to kalahari (the local SA starcraft server) and asked for a game. Two guys wanted to Play Stellarwind and Dark*something*[SWAT]. I cant quite remember his full nick. Maybe it had something to do with the wine. I'll just call him dark. After a bit of chatting stellar observes and dark and I 1v1. Dark creates.

Map: Lost Temple
Speed: Fastest
EvilBob: Protoss
Dark: Zerg

I spawn in at 9'O-clock and start with a pretty normal 2 gateway build. I sent a probe out scouting and as luck would have it I find him right away at 12' O-clock. My little probe does a building check and finds an extrator working already. I assume he is going lurkers and send my first 3 zealots to the top of his ramp. He has some lings and a couple sunkens. I figure that I need to setup a fire base so I can recharge shield and get a bit of detection against lurkers. I get my pylon up but manage to lose my probe to zerglings that have noticed the pylon going up. My zealots finish the lings but I dont have enough to take the sunkens. There where at least 3. We play cat and mouse with him trying to kill my probes with me trying to get my zealots inbetween. I finally get 2 cannons and a shield battery down. But due to the closeness of the sunkens and the harrasment of the zerglings I place the canons behind the pylon.

Back at home I get a cyber core and research range for my soon to be reborn goons and +1 attack at the forge. I now have dark fairly well contained. Well actually not. Due to the poor placement of my cannons and battery the pylon and battery gets taken down by a new sunken. I run my group of 7 or so zealots and an odd goon down the ramp and try to setup another fire base just beyond his natural. To stop lurkers and contain. I place a dragoon between his cliff and my main to spot for a possible drop. I realize I wouldnt be able to run over the sunkens with zealots I thought of a new evil plan. I slapped down two stargates.

With the containment broken at the top of his ramp dark surged down the ramp with some lings, the odd hydra and at least 6 lurkers. They hit my new firebase before I could get a cannon up. My forces with out detection decided that the best plan of attack involved running in the opposite direction screaming. Back at home I frantically put up some cannons at my ramp. Hoping that they would warp in before the lurkers got past. The lurkers had ignored the pylon that was the beginning of my firebase and had chased after my troops. Running in fear for your lives does not help with co-ordination and my troops tripped over one another. This usually irritating AI probally saved me as the lurker burrowed twice to get free shots at the pannic stricken protoss. The damaged troops finally made it up my ramp as the 2 cannons warped in. Some zerglings dand a lurker or two died as my troops remembered that the cool psi blade thingies attached to their forearms made wonderful zerg kebabs. The remaining lurkers burrowed for containment.

I was up to 4 corsairs and I sent them on overlord hunting duty. Sunkens might stop zealots but they arent so effective against corsairs. I racked up quiet a few kills before being chased off by hydralisks. I then sent them off scouting for expansions. I had thrown down a robotics facilty and and then a support bay and observatory. With detection I pushed out of the lurker containment with range goons and a few zealots. I moved to just outside his natural and had to scamper away as my observer was cut down by hydra's and an overlord. A couple new observers arrived and I pressed my attack. At the same time I setup a pylon for cannons at my natural to allow me to expand.

By this stage I had got my first reaver and shuttle and had 5 or so corsairs. I figured he would be low on troops so I sent in the corsairs to pop his overlords and then pushed up his ramp with my troops. He had a new hatch at his natural and I let a few troops deal with it. I then dropped my reaver in a spot above his extrator. Just out of range of his sunkens :) Unfortuantly the corsairs had killed all the overlords and now were being chased toward my drop site by a group of hydras. The reaver killed a few hydras but fell before it could kill any drones. A wandering observer found a hatch at the 3'O-Clock natural.

I saw 3 new overlords pop out of eggs at the expansion so I sent over 2 corsairs, a zealot and two goons. I tried using brute force to take the sunkens at his main but after losing all my zealots and a few goons I decided to just take out buildings that were in range. My 5 goons wet themselves when they saw 12 lings hatch at his main. Just then a reaver arrived via express shuttle and made pretty red splats. With no supply and his main and expansion crumbing ,dark conceded with a gg.

Refections: Dark never had a good look at my base. If he had he would have seen buildings. And nothing else. If has pulled off any sort of a drop past my ramp I would have been more screwed than the head cheer leader after an away win.

Note: I lag too bad to play during the on battle.net and there is no-one on kalahari during the day. So no starcraft for me :( I was bored enough to type this but not bored enough to try make it pretty.
