3 game series

Hello yet again, my loyal minions! Tonight i bring
you a special br. Special because it is NOT on temple, has NO canadians, and NOT starring
the same old nh people that you are all used to. Wonderful, isn't it? Yes, instead i bring
you a three game game series between the famed Silent-Strike, and the not so famed (or
liked for that matter) }8), aka -TOOL-. Just imagine it as a really crappy and small
version of WilliamWC3's brs =].
The game started on a late weekday night, with being the lazy ass i am, not doing
homework and instead on b.net. My friend Tool came on his face name, }8), and since he is
fond of 1v1s and i'm not, he started asking around nh for a 1v1, knowing that i would
observe the games and possibly br^^. We found Strike in the channel, and yelled at him to
1v1 Tool. He said "dah", so i assumed that meant yes, and Tool hosted a game. I
quickly joined it, as did Strike. I picked terran to float, and i said gogogogogo^^ and we
were off.

Simplest is sometimes the best
Map: Hot Zone
Tool randoms to zerg, top left
vs
Strike randoms to toss, top right
This map has very legimate rushing possibilities. The fact that there is NO RAMP *a
hush comes from all the temple players* means that Silent can not hold 4 zealots on
the top of the ramp and kill 30 zerglings. Tool, knowing this, goes for a power lings build order. He goes
hatch around 10, and pool around 12, followed by extractor on 14.
Silent goes with a standard double gate build, following it up not too soon after
with gas and a cyber core. Their plans become apparent when Tool starts going korean style 2
hatch lings with about 10 drones (one on gas). Bad manner. Silent is teching a bit, heading for either reavers or templar.
Tool
masses lings for a bit, and when he thinks he has enough, sends them east towards Silent's base,
numbering about 18. He is also equipped with
the ling speed upgrade which he was able to get with his beastly one drone on gas. So he
groups his lings together, and kamazakis them into Silent's base. Silent however, was
low on troops since he had been teching a bit. He only had 3 zealots and 2 goons, and
realizing this, takes about 8 probes off of minerals, and using godly micro that only
Imports can do, is able to dispatch of all the lings with only a few zealot casulties.
However, he was forced to take probes off mining duty which hindered his economy quite a
bit.
During this, Tool is able to expand to his natural, which is just below his main up a ramp.
(Sorry to those who dont know the map BECAUSE THEY ONLY PLAY TEMPLE). He begins amassing
lings again, showing no signs of teching - very korean. Silent, feeling confident with
his recent hold, continues teching, choosing reavers are his unit to make zerg units
explode in a pile of gore.
Unfortunately for Strike, this lull in action would not last much longer. Tool reaches
critical mass in his mind with lings again, and sends about 15 towards Stike's base. They arrive
quickly with their speed upgrade and immediately start pounding on one of Strike's gateways.
The gateway falls quickly, before Strike can save it, as he quickly sends his 3 dragoons and zealot to
dispatch with the lings, again having to send several probes because of his lack of
troops. However, this time, the lings are much more successful because of the fact that Strike doesn't have
as many zealots. The dragoons fall quickly and the probes as Strike's godly kali micro fails
him. All his attacking probes fall before he is able to kill the last lings with his few
remaining probes. Again a short silence is present, but as before, it is short lived, as Tool sends another 12 lings to finish off Strike. GGs and "dah"s are said, as is
"rematch".

Yeah yeah i know, the game sucked. But there are 2 more games to go, so be stay put in
that chair and dont cry.
On to #2!
Map: Heartwood
Tool randoms to
zerg, bottom left
vs
Strike randoms to toss, bottom right
This map is somewhat similar to Hot zone. However, it is forest, which is much more
lush than desert, which is good i think. Again, there is no choke, and not even one path
to the main bases. If you look closely you can note that there is two openings to each
main, seperated by a little chunk of high ground in the middle of them.
Tool
goes with a semi-conservative build of hatch, pool, gas, all before 15 population. He
follows this up with a hydra den. 2 hatch hydras would be my guess. Strike does a
standard 2 gateway build, followed by gas and forge. Apparently mr kali's plan is to
turtle up .. keke^^.
Tool
decided to stray from my telepathic advice, and morphed his hatch into a lair, probably
going for lurker tech. Strike's scouting probe noted this, and Strike, deciding he would not let
Tool tech without pressuring him, sent 4 zealots to do some damage. Unfortunately for Strike, Tool started pumping
hydras shortly after his probe died, and by the time Strike's zealots
reached the oppositions base Tool had 6 hydras. Strike, seeing these, along with a sunken and a couple of lings,
decided that he would be best to preserve his troops. So after running his poor zealots
through a trap of hydra spines, he somehow managed to keep them all alive, although
sustaining damage.
Back at Strike's base, he is getting robotics tech, knowing that by doing that he can not
only stupid, buggy, worthless reavers, but also observers, knowing that he will need detection
for Tool's lurkers. Tool has snuck a drone out and expanded to the North West natural,
which i didn't even notice until he whispered me something. Well, i guess if i didnt
notice it then maybe Stike wont do much better? =P
Tool
has finished researching lurkers by now, and once finished morphing 3 of them, heads off
east towards Strike's base. Once the 3 lurkers and 9 hydras reach their destination, they flank Strike's base and
head in from the north. There, Tool gets some potshots on some chatting zealots (probably
bitching about how they can't get become templars) before Strike orders them to shut up and
haul their ass outa there. They meet up with Strike's 4 goons,
and a battle commences with 4 goons and 5 zeals vs 9 hydras and 3 lurkers. At first, Tool has the
advantage, mostly on account of the fact that Strike left his observer on the other side of his base ... very gosu
move. Detection is 2gosu4 Strike =P Once mr observer arrives, however, the tide of the battle
changes - but not enough, as Tool's surviving 3 hydras and 2 lurkers chase away 2 of Strike's damaged
goons. The lurkers unburrow and the hydras slither south to Strike's peon line, where the
lurkers again burrow, this time in the back of the probes, while the hydras fire upon a
cannon. This causes Strike to run his probes away in fear of being raped by lurker
spines. However, 2 fresh goons arrive, and with the help of the 2 veteran ones, they kill
the hydras, and once finished, smack around the lurkers, along with a freshly qued reaver.
Following this successful attack, Tool knows he has two options. He can A) take the map like a gosu
zerg, get 17,000 hatches and overrun Strike while laughing at his pitiful army, and finish him off with
55 ultras. Or he can B) attack again, and hope that he can catch Strike trying to rebuild his
economy as opposed to troop count. Personally i would have chosen the first, except with mass ensnare and
broodling along with infested terrans (oh i'd find a way to get them). But Tool is a -fool- so
he chooses option B. Even before his first attack is blasted to zerg hell (Sp|nE's
useless thought: or do all zergs go to hell, making the word hell itself completely
unmeaningful for them, which would inturn explain the recklessness of the swarm - sort of
like arab soldiers when they thought they were all going to heaven for allah ... or in
zerg's case, the OVERMIND ... shit i'm really insightful ... alright from now on zergs are
known as arabs), Tool has another 11 hydras on the way to Strike's base. They get
their about 10 seconds after his original attack is finished off, and get some free shots
on a robotics bay before mr reaver comes over and fires his first volley, killing 3
hydras. Seeing this, Tool focuses fire on it and is able to kill it before it fires
another shot. However, reaver #2 finished building before the first one died, and shortly
after the first one dies reaver #2 fires it's respective volley, killing 5 hydras. The
next scarab finishes off the remaining 3, creating a bloody mess of blood and putrid
smelling gore, probably making the dragoons wish they were dead again (for the 45th time).
Following this, Strike takes his natural, while Tool takes the north west main
base. His north west natural is pretty operational, and he has added a spire there, going
for air dominance, in addition to the fact that mutas > reavers. Things are nice and
quite for a while, before Strike's scouting probe, looking for Tool's expansions, wanders upon
the now finished north west base. Strike then checks the north west natural, and finds that base that
tool said something about ..... oh here let me get it:

Tool
is unnerved by this however, and continues to get map dominance, expanding to the north
east natural. Strike is not about to let him get the damn map however, and shoves 2 reavers
into a shuttle and flys it up towards that base that Tool said "would never be
found". At
about that time, Tool's spire has finished morphing there, and he morphs a few scourge, either
because he is trying to be wary of drops or he map hacks. I think he hacks but it is open
to discussion. Anyway, if he does hack, he is pretty stupid because the shuttle bypasses
the route that the scourge were taking, and by the time Tool notices, it's too late. The
scourge kamazaki into the shuttle, killing it, but one of the two reavers manage to escape
out of it. Tool here makes a critical mistake by attacking the reaver with drones while
simultaneousley making a sunken colony, instead of maynarding his drones to the north west
main. We all know that reavers > drones, so the result? Tool loses 9 drones until the
sunken takes down the reaver.
While laughing as Tool tries to kill a reaver with drones, Strike has begin amassing a
rather large force of reavers and goons. Once he reaches a set of goons, and 2 reavers, he
loads up his reavers into the shuttle and sets off in search for some zerg blood. In
conjunction with this he expands to the upper right spot. He reaches Tool's base, unloads
his reavers, and instead of finding the 24+ hydras that he was expecting, finds 3 hydras,
2 mutas, and a few scourge. This is because Tool had been rebuilding his economy, powering drones from his 3
expansions, as well as building anti-dropship/reaver mutas/scourge. So there really isn't
much else to say other than Tool's main was easily taken down. He managed to escape many a drone
though, and still had 3 expansions, compared to Strike's 2, so he was still in the game. The above pic is probably the
most exciting fight that took place in that "battle".
Tool may suck but he
won't die easy
Tool,
although discouraged after the fall of his main, does not give up. He still has a pool and
a spire, as well as 3 bases. Just after the finishing of his main, he notices Strike's north east
base with a few lings, and starts attacking it with a few mutas and lings. However, several bad ass goons arrive,
killing the lings and chasing the mutas to the north east natural. Strike notes this,
and sends his 7 goons up the ramp to the natural. There they find a sunken, a morphing
creep, as well a couple of mutas - a battle which the goons should have easily won.
However, Tool somehow pulls some gosuity out of his ass and fights off the goons,
causing Strike to retreat 4 damaged ones back to the north east main.
Tool,
having 3 gas geysers, is quickly able to hatch a large force of about 12 mutas. He moves
them to Strike's north east expansion, finding about 7 goons and a
cannon. The mutas engage, and quickly bring down the cannon and start hammering on the
goons, with the loss of only 5 mutas. Strike sees this and sends his set of goons that had formerly killed
Tool's
main, who were at that time outside of Tool's northeast expansion. Strike micros some of his goons away
from the mutas, causing several of the mutas to chase after the goons. The remaining few
mutas start attacking Strike's probes. Unfortunately for Tool, about 12 goons arrive, and Tool's mutas
remaining 6 or so mutas die easily.
During this, Tool had taken the
island expansion to the north of his former main (click on the above mini-map to see
exactly where). Strike had tried to be cute and attack Tool's north east expansion with a couple of reavers, but mutas >
reavers, so the reavers were blown up, but not before they got to kill about 12 of Tool's kamazaki
zerglings.
Strike knows he has to keep the pressure on Tool, so 12 or so goons at the
north east travel a short distance to the north east natural. Tool has 2 sunkens there and one
morphing, as well as several mutas. Strike has to carefully move his
goons up the ramp, because if he didnt they walk around drunk as goons usually do when
they try to attack high ground. Doing this, he takes pretty heavy sunken and muta damage,
but once he gets up the ramp his remaining 8 goons do moderate damage, killing all 3
sunkens and 4 mutas, before retreating his 3 goons back down the ramp.
Tool's remaining few
mutas travel back to the north east main, where they run into a few goons and ... an
archon! Yeah, Strike finally got smart and began building templar to get archons. Tool's mutas were
killed quickly, and Strike, for the third time, went up Tool's ramp at the north east
natural. Finally, they broke through the little resistance, killed the few sparse mutas
and lings there, and razed Tool's north east natural expansion.
The final blows
During the razing of Tool's expansion, Strike figures now is a good time as ever to finish the game. He
groups his goons and archons together, and heads
towards Tool's northwest bases. Tool sends countless zerglings at him, the the archon does its job
nicely before dieing, and the goons finish them off, with the add of an observer to find a
lurker. Tool keeps sending mutas and lings at the remaining 7 dragoons, but the goons
stand their ground, and are victorious. Reinforcements soon arrive, and head towards Tool's northwest
natural. The closest things they find to opposition there are a bunch of scared shitless
drones, who are easily destroyed.
Strike's very formidable force of at least 24 goons and a couple
templar then proceed to move to Tool's north east main, where they raze it very easily. All that
remains for Strike is to kill Tool's western island expansions, and he does this in most
humiliating with an archon drop .. keke^^. Tool however, with lots of gas, made an assload of queens, and got
broodlings, so he was able to produce this humorous site:

Scores

Yeah there's more
Before the 3rd game started, i had to alt tab and add
some more directories to shove screens into. And when i got back into the pregame chat i
saw Strike and Tool having a pretty hot and sweaty conversation

Map: Red Canyons
Tool randoms to
zerg, bottom left
vs
Strike randoms to toss, bottom right
Does this even need an analysis? P v T on rampless. It's "balanced". But then
again Tool is the toss, so anything could happen.
Tool starts off the game in most cheesey fashion. Once his scouting probe sees
terran, he realizes that he has an opportunity to be gay. So he promptly throws up an
assimilator on Strike's gas mine.
Tool's cheesy plan continues as he goes gate, gas, core, gate at home, planning
for ranged goons - sickeningly lethal on a flat map vs terran (not that you guys would
know, BECAUSE YOU ONLY PLAY TEMPLE). Strike decides to make Tool waste his money by going
double rax rines, preparing for the mighty terran cheese rush!. Yes, the famous
marine/scv rush made famous by Agent911. It is very amusing and sometimes disturbingly
effective.

Tool
makes the first move however, and sends his first 2 zealots north to try to distract
Strike and keep him on the defensive. However, by the time they reach the outer part of Strike's base, they
run into 8 marines and about 6 scvs heading off to Tool's base. The zealots try run
past the marines (or maybe Tool is just stupid). But anyway they died doing jack for damage. Tool got valuable
recon information however, and notes Strike's gay cheese rush. He comments on his current situation:
Tool
quickly puts up a forge in anticipation of the gay cheese, so he can put up anti marine
cannons. The cheese travels south, and once the cheese arrives,
consisting of 8 marines and 5 scvs, Tool attacks with 2 zealots, trying to stall them, giving time for
his cannon to warp in. The zealots do the job well, sacrificing their pathetic lives for
aiur. Tool realizes that he needs to stall the cheese even more, as his cannon is
slow and putzy to warp in, so in desperation, he uses his probes. He kills a marine before
retreating them, as he realizes that its not worth losing many probes just as fodder. He
lets the marines move towards the cannon, and they start to fire upon it. However, the
cannon is able to warp in in time! It starts firing upon the marines, and with the
addition of several probes and 2 fresh zealots, Tool is able to live through the "nig of a pickle". Strike retreats with
5 marines and an scv.

Following this, both players change their strats a bit. Strike decides to continue along
the infantry path, getting an academy for meds and bats. Tool warps a citadel of adun,
preparing for the feared and amazingly gay dark and high templar. They both sit around for
a little bit, until Strike decides to attack again - he sends about 15 marines and 6
medics south towards Tool's base. Tool has fully teched to templar, and has 2 dts and 4 zealots
sitting at his choke. And either Strike is a hacker or he is ultra gosu, because he knows about Tool's dts:
The M&M engage Tool's forces outside of Tool's choke, gauss
rifles are fired and zealots running around like little girls. Strike hears the slash of dts, so
he quickly comstats, and doing this is able to kill them. He emerges victorious, with 8
marines remaining. However, Tool has one more dt. Strike sees the bendy shadows, and since he has probably run out of
comstat energy, decides it's best to run like hell back to his base. They are able to get
back to his base successfully despite a dt trying to rape their medics. Strike quickly
builds an engineering bay and factory, and then a turret. Tool decides not to engage
though, and sits his dt outside of Strike's base for containment.
Why infantry sucks vs
toss
Tool, knowing he has some solid
map control with his dts, decides to expand to the lower left main. He also starts getting
regular templar, preparing to unleash that spell that you all know and love, psi storm. Strike continues to
mass infantry, probably having 30+ at this point. He skimps on the machine shop add-on for
his factory, instead getting a starport. To the side, Tool tells us what he feels about
bathing
Next, Tool gathers a small but lethal force of 2 dts, 4 zealots with speed, and 2
templar outside of Strike's choke. What occurs next is possibly too gruesome to tell with
words, so i will show it to you by making a outrageously large and pretty picture.

Tool
follows up his gosu storming by expanding to the south west natural, while Strike takes his
natural. Tool also decides to follow up his successful attack by attacking again, this
time with 2 zealots and 2 templar coming from the south, with another 2 templar coming
from the west. Very micro-intensive, but if he can pull it off it will be deadly.
Strike sees this ahead of time, scouting with a vulture. He tries to pick of a
templar with it but the zealots are able to kill the drunk biker before he call pull it
off. Tool moves one of his templar up
towards the infantry, and throws up a storm at several tighly packed infantry. Strike micros
however (wow!), and only loses 4 marines. Tool, despite using only one templar, decides to merge 2 of them
into an archon, while attacking with his 2 zealots. But then i see his gosu plan come into
action, as his 2 flanking templar come in and start turning marines into red mush. After
the templar are done, the archon only has to kill a marine and 2 medics, and is left to
deal with an imcomplete CC.
After razing the CC, Tool enters Strike's base with that archon and 2 dts, finding only a few marines.
They are quickly killed, and Strike is forced to surrender. This game was really fascinating
because Tool barely macroed at all, yet he still managed to win. IMBALANCE!!!
Game, set, match.
Addendum: After i had to leave, they played two more games. Strike won
both of them. But since i am the official record keeper, they don't count. Tool is
proclaimed god and > than all of kali.
