Hi there and welcome to yet another |]agomar battle report. This time I bring you a very odd one, which you're sure to find . . . em, different, at least. I'm still trying to find a program to really make screen shots that I can download from the Net ( got no cash ). If you know of a way, please write about it in the comments section. Next report will definitely be BW, by the way!
Pregame Report
That out of the way, we turn to the pregame report. I was in a very bad mood at the moment, having just lost two ladder battles because I disconnected ( luckily I got Brood War permanantly after this game so the ladder stuff here doesn't count ), so I decided to backstab on your average 5v1 computer game! This always pays off very richly, mostly because of the tension and suspicion it always creates . . . .
The map was the original normal money hunters, and as soon as I arrived the countdown started, so I had just enough time to pick Terran before my fledgling base appeared on the screen. .=Dark-Night=. spawned purple Zerg at top right, bloodyty emerged at white Zerg at lower right, Battlebatty warped in as Blue Protoss at center left, HASS_________ appeared as brown Zerg at lower left while I touched down as Yellow Terran at top left. The game was on!

Initial Victory
I immediately began the typical Terran economy build, constructing many SCVs right away, making a supply depot, then, in a somewhat unconventional move, erecting a barracks at my natural's choke point, thereby defending it and the route to the top center expansion at the same time. Bloody didn't build anything for a while, finally mutating a spawning pool with his fourth drone ( typical zergling rush build ), and HASS was obviously a relative newbie, building a spawning pool with his sixth drone a whiles into the game. Battle warped in a pylon and later two gateways as soon as he could, yet managed to set up a reasonably good early game economy as well. It took Dark's advice to get the bottom Zerg to finally send out their Overlords, yet once they did the enemy was easily spotted: an Orange Zerg. This would be a pushover, everyone must have thought! Not so . . . .
Now bloody burst out of his base with six zerglings. These met resistance from four of the computer's lings, and in the vicious battle that followed, two of the orange beasts were mowed down until reinforcements emerged from the nearby hatchery, and drove off the human attackers. Yet now six more zerglings arrived, backed up by some of Dark's army, and powered their way in. Bloody, in a brilliant move, managed to keep away the defenders while he built a sunken colony near the hatchery, and when this was finished, it was obviously no contest. As a final statement, a couple blue zealots stomped into the fray, with two of HASS' lings following closely thereafter. With a tremendous explosion the last computer structure went down, and a flurry of gg's flickered across the screen. I was sure to place mine in exactly the right timing . . .
A pause followed. "gj," I said. More time dragged on. Now the players were starting to get worried, and er's flashed across the message board. Still nothing.
"Everybody ally," proclaimed HASS
"Did do!" insisted Dark
"Check off all boxes," I said hypocritically, laughing to myself. If anyone suspected me at this point, though, I was toast.
"I did!"
"Check again, white," was Battle's response.
"Did YOU check em off?" wondered HASS suspiciously.
"Yep," said Battle, and in the seconds that followed all players protested their innocence, including me, the liar. Another black spot on my soul . . . .
Now things weren't funny anymore. Players no longer viewed themselves as allies, but rather as objects of suspicion. When bloody glanced at Dark's base only to find about 40 zerglings massed at the choke point, he was immediately alarmed, and screamed:
"Whoa, purple! What're you doing!?"
"For defence," was the reply, yet nobody was reassured!
"Zerglings for defence?" was the cynical response from HASS.
"What about it?"
Silence . . . .
Tensions Rise
The game dragged on. At this point, I was alarmed at the enormous strength of Dark's forces. He could have killed any of us at this point, and if he was sufficiently provoked, he might do just that. All players suspected him of being the backstabber, yet nobody was sure, and of course everyone was nice to him in general messaging, yet in private chat doubts about his loyalty grew rapidly. Meanwhile, my power was expanding too, although nobody seemed to notice. I now was the only one with my natural, and was getting in vast amounts of money. My choke was now defended by double bunkers, and mines from my two vultures. Goliaths and tanks were pouring out of my three factories, and supply depots were erected all along the side of my base. Now I started to make firebats to defend against the 'lings, an attack by which I still probably couldn't hold out against. A zergling from HASS and one from Dark had entered my base near my Command Centre, so I built a bunker near them, filled it with two marines, and roughly asked what the hell they were doing there.
"Recon, just in case," was HASS' reply, "do the same."
I sent a firebat into every player's base, shortly after which Battle disconnected in annoyance.
'Damn!" yelled bloody.
Dark was still the object of utmost suspicion. When his army moved suddenly to the opposite corner of his base, it provoked alarm in both of his other Zerg 'allies,' which weren't entirely countered by his insistence that he was building some creep colonies there. More panic ensued when it became apparent that 2 of his queens had rushed to bloody's base, which again didn't quite subside. When Bloody again protested the mere existence of Dark's zerglings, he said he wasn't doing anything, that they were just there, and added in a lol.
Good naturedly, I wrote a lol in there as well. Bad move!
"Stabbers?" wondered Bloody out loud.
"Traitors?!" squeeled HASS.
When we proclaimed our innocence, all was alright again, yet now I was placed under further suspicion.
At this point, I had large amounts of tanks at the mouth to the 12:00 expansion, and around a group of goliaths patrolling around my chokepoint. I also had great technology and upgraded troops, not to mention a science vessel ominously hovering around my natural.
"Yellow's building up!" yelled HASS.
"What?" I said innocently.
'"Wow, you have alot of stuff," hissed Dark.
"Only for defence," I protested, which was perfectly true.
"I know," said Dark, yet he moved another three zerglings over. When I protested, they slowly slinked out, yet remained patrolling in the centre. Now I moved into the 12:00 base in ernest, and immediately found huge amounts of overlords hovering just overland at the western edge of the territory. Just to make sure these weren't put to offensive drop use, in case my intended victims turned on me before I was ready, two goliaths were dispatched to deal with them, and three turrets were constructed. I still wonder why this didn't seem the least bit ominous to Dark . . . maybe he just wasn't paying enough attention . . . .
"This is ridiculous!" yelled Bloody in frustration, and got out. And then there were three . . . .
A wolf in sheep's clothing
There were three of us, as I said before, and one of us had to be the backstabber. But which one could it be? I was constantly pretending to find out. I secretly set my messaging so only Dark could hear it.
"It can't be you," I said after some discussion, "because you could once have killed us all at the same time."
"Hmmm."
"That leaves only HASS," I concluded.
"Or you."
"Yeah, I wonder how I could prove my innocence?"
"So do I," was the ominous response.
Okay, I'll interrupt this nerve-racking game and deliver a piece of advice: when an 'ally' says this to you in this type of situation, even a potential backstabber, always say yes. If then the ally asks you to help his kill the supposed traitor, always say OK. Wait until your ally's forces are on the move, then fall in after them. Make your ally do all the fighting, and watch his navy/army be depleted. Now, if you're still not victorious, then you know your former ally is the traitor, so turn upon him and kill his weakened forces.
Back to the game . . . .
By this time I was really in business. I had 3 starports now, and two were in the making. My Science Facility was completed and a physics lab was being added on. I had two tanks that I couldn't place anywhere, so I asked the remaining players if they wanted some to boost their defence. No answer! I asked again.
"No way," said Dark. Aha, that told me he was still strongly suspicious.
"Nah," proclaimed HASS. Still suspicious, but normally so, I figured. Good . . . .
Now something really funny happened:
"You've made your point, purple," said HASS.
"What point?!!"
"I'm not so great at Zerg. Not my best race."
"What point!? I don't understand!!!"
Laughing, I privately messaged Dark:
"He thinks it's you!"
"WHAT??"
"lol," was my response.
A short while later, I moved a couple scouting wraiths to HASS' base. He was so paranoid, that he burrowed his drones, and yelled
"HEY!"

Of course I wasn't going to attack with a couple wraiths! At least . . . not yet.
There's a fine line between an OK and a bad player. Dark had a far superior economy to HASS, yet all he had was zerglings and sunkens. Therefore, when a lone mutalisk appeared above his minions, he was alarmed. Now was he better than HASS, or worse?
"He could kill you right now if he wanted," I reminded purple on private chat.
"I know," was the embittered response.
"Tech up then!"
"Will do."
Aha, I was gaining some goodwill. Couldn't hurt! Now HASS expanded to the 9:00 site, killing all Protoss structures there and erecting a hatchery of his own. Next Dark expanded to the 3:00 site, provoking panicked outbursts from HASS when 12 zerglings moved in to reinforce. He also built a few spores and morphed some Hydras. In my main base, nobody seemed to notice the large, yellow blocks on the minimap, nearly the size of buildings, collecting at my 12:00 expansion . . . .
That's right, I had battlecruisers. In fact, I had alot of them by now. The number was at 6, and 3 more were on the way. I also built some more goliaths to place by Dark's overlords hovering round the left side of my 12:00, and another science vessel. HASS now did a very, very stupid thing.
First of all, he had gathered his entire air fleet of seven mutalisks and three gaurdians between my own cluster of three mineral sites and Dark's main. A queen was also lurking there . . . .
"It's him!" came the fevered cry on the messageboard from Dark.
"What? Why?!"
"He just parasited your Science Vessel!"
Sure enough, my massive, hovering Science Vessel at my expansion had been hit by a parasite. That made me really mad, probably because I didn't have anything else to get mad about at the moment. Unfortunately for HASS, I had full energy on that vessel, and Irradiate had been researched!
"First spell for you," I hissed, "next two for me."
Laughing evilly to myself, I moved the Explorer into position, right by the entire brown Zerg air force, hovering there unsuspectingly. Quickly, I irradiated the center gaurdian, and a sickly green gleam became visible. Then, I did the same to a mutalisk relatively nearby!
The entire mutalisk fleet was wiped out of existence as they tried frantically to escape, leaving behind only a single gaurdian at 20 hitpoints!!!!! Chaos followed as HASS tried to look for his fleet, and found only a heavily damaged gaurdian where there had once been three plus 7 mutas!
"!!!!!!!!!" He screeched!
"AAAAAAAAA!"
"YOU KILLED THEM!"
"THEY DIED! YOU KILLED THEM!!!"
"MY FLEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"NOOOOOO! :("
It had taken him the entire game to build up that fleet!
"If you do that one more time," he threatened, "I'll have to infest a command centre."
"You do that," I whispered softly back, "and I kill you."
And it was not a threat to be taken lightly. While Dark had 4 Ultralisks and HASS had 3, I had a Grand Fleet of 12 Battlecruisers, impatiently waiting, ready to go. After the shock had subsided, HASS asked if he could get some infested Terrans. I kind of liked this guy by now, so I said sure, ok. It wouldn't make a difference to the balance of power, and would show my good intentions. Dark warned me not to do this, and lectured me on the sheer strength of infested stuff, yet when I tried to get him to accept a command center, he ardently refused. I built one anyway and flew it over his base, yet he obviously didn't know how to infest one and killed it by mistake, which made me really mad.
By now HASS had infested Terrans skittering all through Dark's base, who bellowed
"get those OUT OF HERE!!!"
An order which was quickly obeyed as a lone ultralisk advanced upon the suicide bombers.
"Thank you so much," said HASS to me when I had completed his second Command Center, "now you can have anything you want."
Without Mind Control, this would be tough to accept, yet when I saw the huge, lumbering Ultralisk standing massively in Brown's base, I knew I wanted it.
"Er, I want an Ultra at my choke, defending please."
"You got it."
The Finale - And the demise of Dark?
Now I was getting sick and tired of this continual suspicion. Dark was moaning on about how gay this was, and countering every infested terran move with his ultralisks, which were in turned countered by HASS' ultras, which were countered by purple's queens, which were countered by brown's mutas! Every time an infested Terran moved, a whole huge army/navy, all in follow mode, would move with it!!!
Now, finally, I privately messaged HASS, who was now as friendly towards me as he was suspicious of Dark.
"I'm getting sick and tired of this. You wanna kill Dark?"
"You bet," was the eager reply. I moved my Fleet ominously into position near the overlord, and brought in some goliaths. Then I advanced 8 tanks and 4 goliaths to Dark's main base choke. HASS then brought forth his own fleet, and some untracked infested Terrans . . . .]
"Hey!" barked Dark.
"What's going on?!"
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
"Sorry," was my reply, as I set the Yamato targets, irradiated his huge masses of overlords, and unallied. Immediately missiles began flying everywhere, and virtually all of Dark's masses of overlords were blown to dust before they could get out! Three of purple's huge, hulking Ultralisks now charged my tanks and four goliaths, and succeeded in killing all of the huge walkers before being gunned down by the tanks. The Battlecruisers crushed the hydra den, a spore colony, and the evolution chamber with sublime ease before they coasted in, exuding sheer power as they did. The Vessels Irradiated two nearby queens, and the whole base was ground to a bloody pulp in only 30 seconds as my fleet roared in. The last hive in the base, along with 4 hydras, was now pincered between my cruisers and a HASS' ten crabs/mutas, and all was slaughtered by the devastating laser batteries of the UED craft.
As dark hurled ever more insulting comments our way, we moved towards his main base.
"You have to ally first, and then we'll stop."
"Shut up! I thought you were nice guys, but you were against me all along!"
If you had been more responsive, I would have sided with you against HASS I thought. But I said nothing.
"OK, I'm fully allied now! Oh my God my first loss!" he wailed.
Yet I just didn't have the heart to kill them both. When purple said he allied, I set allied victory at last as well, thus making it seem like it was Dark all along! Sometimes it's nice to humiliate a player who only plays on hunters . . . and to teach him that an ultralisk and two groups of zerglings just won't cut it against battlecruisers!
The "You are Victorious," sign appeared, and another game was won . . . by three of us! Not such an easy game for a 5v1 comp!
Lessons Learned:
-I just don't have the heart to backstab properly. I could easily have slaughtered both of them; HASS didn't even have spore colonies! I need to take a lesson in cruelty . . . .
-It's amazing how suspicious people can get with each other.
-When a Terran starts building cruisers, that's not defence, it's offense. My enemies should've seen and realized this fact, because if they had done that in time, they could still have defeated me together.
Final Comment
First of all, I know this is not going to get a good rating ( 7+ ) because it's on a hunters map ( even though it's not mucho money ) and it's more talk than battlereport, plus it doesn't have many pics. Oh well . . . hopefully you'll like it, never know.
Second, I send my sincere apologies to both Dark-Night and HASS. Sorry guys it was me all along. Oh well, hopefully you learned something, no heart feelings right? ( especially since I saved you in the end )
Third, the picture of the Drones was taken off www.battle.net/scc. It looked almost identical to the actual image though. Still don't have a screen shot program; but I'm thinking of downloading hypercam.
done!
