I was just spending another uneventful day of spamming in x17 for a game to report on when I got a message from :+:Kevin:+: or Kev-The-Feared volunteering to play. Now all I had to do was find someone man enough to take him on. The first victim was ~Jash~ who... well... lost. Then there was m0nster who also ummmm, lost. I created the next game on KBK Temple and m0nster asked to observe with me. After a minute of debate m0nster said he would message someone to play Kev. A minute passed and Roqu joined the game soon followed by Kev. I started the game once all players were in agreement of being ready. Kev selected Protoss prior to the countdown, and Roqu, Terran.
Stage one: Build and Rush
Kev started his build with a Pylon, soon followed by a Gateway, Assimilator, another Pylon, a Cybernetics Core, and a second Gateway. This was looking towards fast range-upgraded Dragoons. Roqu constructed a Supply Depot, then a Barracks and then another Supply Depot at his ramp's choke point. Roqu then put down his Refinery, third Supply Depot and 2 Factories. Roqu looked to be going for Heavy Metal or some modified variant.
Kev makes the first attack of the game by sending 2 Zealots and a single Dragoon towards the Terran base.
A Vulture was standing watch at Roqu's natural, but soon retreated to the saftey of his wall-in. The Zealots and Dragoon marched up the ramp and started pounding on the outmost Supply Depot. But the 500 Hit Point structure stood and 4 SCVs were sent to repair it. Another Dragoon joined the fray. The defending Vulture was destroyed along with a new Siege Tank which sadly did not have its research done yet. Kev now targeted the SCVs and destroyed them, and finally broke through the Supply Depot wall-in. While the Dragoons took down anything that came out of the two Factories, Kev's Zealots mercilessly slaughter SCVs. But eventually Tanks took down the two Dragoons and knocked off the Zealots. But all the same, Roqu was in pretty bad shape, having lost over half of his mining SCVs. Kev takes advantage of his... errr... advantage and expands to his natural.
Stage Two: Lather, Rinse, Repeat!
Kevin has prepared another group of Dragoons, about 6 this time, and marches them into Roqu's natural. At the sight of a Sieged Tank, they retreat and wait for four more Dragoons before advancing. The Dragoons take a casualty as they march up the ramp but soon reduce the Tank to little more than scrap metal and flames. The Dragoons get try to run into Roqu's SCV line but are stopped dead in their tracks by aboot 12 Spider Mines which take down several Dragoons and weaken the other enough for a few Vultures to finish them off. Kev doesn't let up his attacks and soon sends 2 Dark Templar to the Turret and Engineering free base. But Kev makes a grave error by sending in both Dark Templar at the same time. They are both vaporized by the splash of two of Roqu's Mines, whereas if they had been sent in one-by-one, the second would have gotten through and into Roqu's detection-free base. Kev uses the constant pressure he is putting on his opponent to expand to the 6 o'clock main base as well as the 12 o'clock Natural expansion.
Stage Three: Swing 'em Round One More Time!
Kev is pumping Dragoons from four Gateways, and gathers another group outside Roqu's base. The Dragoons force their way up onto the high ground, taking heavy damage, and killing some mines on the way (at this time, Kevin had an observer hanging over the Terran choke). The Dragoons kill the defending units but are weakened enough to be taken down by two new Siege Tanks. A second Dragoon wave is stopped by good Tank placing on Roqu's part. Roqu is finally able to get his natural Command Center up and sends half of the SCVs from his main to start mining. A Turbo newbie is set up on Kevin's 12 o'clock natural expansion and after a few Dragoon skirmishes the expansion falls. (Yes I did forget to mention that Roqu got a Starport).
Big bad Kev warps in 3 Starports and a *shiver* fleet beacon for the mass production of those flying Hotdogs we have all come to love hate.
Stage Four: Exit Roqu
Kev replaces this lost resource node with two more: one at his Mineral only natural and one at the 12 o'clock main base. Soon, one big-ass army comes a knockin' at Roqu's front door. 6 Carriers swarm over the ledged Tanks, clearing the way for Kev's main force of Dragoons and Templar to bust in and fux over the expansion. Kevin walks right up the ramp bowls over Roqu's main. And in an excellent show of... ummmm... show, storms his own Carriers to death. Go Kev!
