3 games in a row! =P I played my friend 3 times today, I thought the games were good, so I decided to BR them. No pics though, sorry. I didn't have the time, 'cept for a precious few. Now then, ON TO THE GAMES! (BTW, I can't remember colors because I use ALT+TAB colors automatically so I can see better.... No HTML either btw, I would need some things from the game I didn't get (was laughing too hard the entire game..))
Game 1
Map: The Lost Temple
Players
-SSJ-Trunks (Me): Chosen Terran, 12 o'clock (ICK! no expand addons)
-SSJ-Goten (EVIL!): Randomed Terran, 9 o'clock (Even WORSE!)
The game started in the chat room where Goten and I exchanged GL's and we’re off. I watched the countdown go down to zero and looked at Goten's race, which was Random. Crap, I hate playing random as Terran. Oh well, I can deal with it.
I started with my anti-random build, 8 Depot at Ramp, Scout, 10 Rax at Ramp, 11 Depot at Ramp(wallin, duh), 13 Rax, 14 Refinery, 15 Depot, 16 Academy, Bunker at Ramp w/ marines + repairing SCV. Deon peon boy dodged into the enemy base and got a pretty good look. He discovered the enemy as Terran, doing a standard build for Terran vs. Terran: Depot/Rax/Depot/Rax/Refinery. Deon scooted away before any marines came out and he hid in a corner for future scouting.
Back at home I had constructed my academy and more depots. M&M were starting to come out of my now three Barracks. After setting up more M&M and depots I clicked back to Deon. He had 60 hitpoints left and ready to rumble. I moved him around the base some more, being careful to avoid the two Rax. I found nothing than more depots and... well let's say a lot of marines for such a short period. DEON, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! But no, he got caught on the ramp and DIED... I screamed and a single tear fell down my cheek. I clenched my fist and vowed revenge for this savagery!
I slapped up a comsat and added a factory to my collection when he came rolling in with the 4 marines that killed Deon. The bastards died to my M&M group. Good, Deon did not die in vain. So, before my comsat finished I was at his ramp and moving up only to be cut down by 2 smartly placed bunkers. I retreated with only 1 marine and 2 medics. Tricky little bastard, he was, he was!!! So I went home and added more marines fearing a retaliation.
My comsat was at 100 energy at this time and I scanned his main and natural. Nothing at the natural, so it’s good. Then I peeked at his main, he had a Factory and a Starport. Starport?! WHAT?! I looked at my base again, realizing I had no detection other than my comsat. I put up an Eng Bay and floated my newly made Command Center to my natural. He tried to peck at me with wraiths, but my turrets/m&m shredded them. Soon my natural was online and we were well into mid-game. I left little orphan Annie outside my base to watch for offensive bunker attempts because I saw a SCV wander outside there. Nothing was there, or so I thought.....
As it turned out, I got myself 2 Starports and a Sci Facility while beginning construction of another Command Center to float to an island. Then I hear "You are under attack" and I peek at the minimap. The area outside my base is dark. Crap, Annie bit the dust too! This was going too far, he's killed Cletus and his brothers, Deon, and Annie! That's it! I sent my group of M&M to stop the o-bunker only to find two bunkers and 2 tanks. WTF? I guess Annie wasn't out far enough. So I put up two tanks and a Bunker to stop any further penetration. He also tried to double tank turbo me. My lone tank died, but not before inflicting a lot of damage to each tank. Last minute M&M charged in and killed off his last tank.
I scanned around more, and found his 6 o’clock expansion. Hah, it was dead because I had 1 wraith w/ cloak and another starport in the making. I sent the wraith down and attacked the defenseless Command Center after pecking away two SCVs. Eventually I grouped up 5 wraiths and the CC went down before he could catch me.
At this point, my main was drying up and my natural was in full swing. I lifted my new CC to the island to the left of me. Seeing that I couldn't stop Bunker/Turret/Tanks with Ground or Wraiths (Ghosts were out of the picture) I decided to get gay. I put on a physics lab for my Science facility and started those gay battlecruisers out of two ports. Two ports, that's it, because it was all I could manage.
Goten at this time decided to use his cliff to his advantage. Numerous turrets were around his perimeter and 2 tanks blew away my defenses at the natural. I rebuilt far away enough that I would blast him if he tried to blast me.
So once again I scouted, blown away by more bunkers... no new tanks though so it's good. I scanned his main to find only two ports (one with addon). I smirked because the fool had nothing compared to me. Our expansions were dead even, I had an island, my natural, and my main to his main, natural, and 6 (he regained it, I had to leave due to low energy and he had a comsat and charged w/ M&M.... So about now it was late game as my first two BCs popped out. I laughed as Yamato finished researching….
Okay, so now I expanded again to my mineral only I managed to sneak by his bunkers, only taking moderate damage from tanks. By now I have collected 4 BattleCruisers and I put down two more ports for Wraiths. Eventually he tried to push my mineral only natural, but my BCs/Wraiths/SVs pushed his gay ass backwards and away from me. I tranferred my dry main's SCVs to my mineral only and scanned around. I now out-resourced him, even though I was "contained". Seeing my advantage, I put up a control tower on another port and pumped BCs from 3 Ports and Wraiths from one. After gathering a formidable force of 12 Wraiths and 8 BCs, I broke through his entire containment line, which basically consisted of Bunkers/Turrets/Goliaths/Wraiths/Valkyries/Tanks. I limped home with 3 damaged BCs and I left 2 of his damaged bunkers. By now, each of my BCs had energy for Yamato Gun so I harassed his turrets that were protecting his tanks, which were keeping me from doing much with my natural's defense.
Enter the smack down....
Okay, I reassessed the situation. I had 4 ports, 3 with addon, 3 damaged BCs. I lost 5 BCs, and 12 Wraiths but killed numerous marines/bunkers/turrets/factories/goliaths/tanks/wraiths/valks. I think I won that war. Why? Cloak, it's a wonderful thing. He didn't have the brain to put up a Science Facility the whole game. Let’s do the math: (2000) + (1800) + 100 = 3900 minerals lost, (1500) + (1200) + 225 = 2925 gas lost (for me). For him: About 6 bunkers so… (600) + (1200) + (600) = 2400 Minerals lost in bunkers/marines/turrets. He lost 12 goliaths, 12 wraiths, and close to 6 tanks, which is something like (1200) + (1800) + (900) = 3,900 minerals lost, (600) + (1200) + (600) = 2400 gas lost. A couple valks, but they won’t count. So let’s add it all up! =P (I’m stupid so I probably screwed something up, I’m using a crap calculator so..) I lost a total of 3900 minerals and 2925 gas. He lost a total of 6300 minerals and 2400 gas. So that means he lost 2500 more minerals than me and I lost 525 more gas. I might’ve saved a couple wraiths and possibly my SV, not sure since all my stuff at my base was almost rebuilt. Now I have 4 bases to his 3, I have gained map control and broke containment at a better cost. I’d say I WON THAT ONE.
I scan again and see a vulnerable spot in his base. I sent in my cloaked wraiths (about 8..) and assassinate his comsat, but he got one sat off. I retreated for a minute and went back in and destroyed the rebuilding comsat. I proceeded to smack around marines and his starport before retreating from another sat (probably made last minute at his 6 expansion).
I expanded yet again, unmolested, to the 9 natural. My natural had run dry so I maynarded SCVs there. After it was in full swing I put up 3 ports and started making all out BCs. I took the newly made 8 BCs and headed down to his 6 o'clock expansion. *Froom... BOOM* goes the Yamato Cannon. I wasted his Bunker and 4 turrets from outside range and thundered in. SCVs and Marines alike shook under the force of my behemoths. I murdered all his SCVs and deconstructed his entire base. Now I knew I had the game in my hand.
Eventually, 12 Valkyries killed my 3 damaged BCs (I hadn't gotten many ups, resources weren't allowing). But, in no time I had 12 BCs 2/1 and raring to go. He attempted one last attack, a Tank drop and Valkyries. Did nothing but destroy some scvs, which were rebuilt quickly. Basically from here, I yamato'd all his turrets and had a hayday in his base. I left him a depot and starport (since he was my IRL friend) and allied him.
End Game One.
Lessons learned from game one:
-Dood, containment won’t work on a Terran - SORRY. Floating abilities and flying units just nullify the usefulness.
-My friend puts way too many resources into containment every game we play. I just bust out cost effectively and laugh at him.
-My friend needs to learn what "being an expansion whore" is.
-If I had gotten nukes, the game would've swung into my direction but I was at 12 and I needed two sats and it would be too late for nukes after I got my 9 Natural.
-BattleCruisers are good for breaking out of containment.
-D-matrix owns. I used it sometimes and swung battles in my direction. Sweet =D.
Okay now, on to game two....
Game Two
Map: The Lost Temple
Players:
-SSJ-Trunks (me of course), Protoss, 12 o'clock
-SSJ-Goten (EVIL!), Chosen Zerg, 6 o'clock
Once again, we exchanged GLs and went into the game. We both chose our respective races so we knew what to build for. I went Pylon, Gateway, Gateway, Pylon, and scouted. Two zealots were placed on ramp for anti-ling. My probe scouted clockwise and found the infestation at 6 o'clock. I saw a pool, extractor, and morphing lair. I looked at my base, my anti-ling build was there. I figured mutas and shrugged putting up a forge/cyber core/assimilator. I placed a matrix of cannons around my entire base (mostly around peons). I rushed him while doing this, and won the resource war. I took out roughly 4 zerglings and two drones. Same cost, but also resource mining time for him.
Back at home, I have a citadel coming in w/ 3 zealots at ramp. I place three cannons and a shield battery at my ramp and put out two more zealots before putting up my Templar Archives. I scouted again and found a hydralisk den. Good, he's gonna die now. The Templar Archives finished in a minute and I immediately started PsiStorm. About this time he drops two lurkers but they die to a Zealot/Cannon. Peh, no drops/soup for you! I warp in my first templar and expand with three cannons, pylon, battery at choke and 3 cannons at Nexus.
Now we are well into Mid-Game. I have full production going at my expansion and I put up two more gates for a grand total of four. I warp in a Rob Fac and an Observatory fearing mass lurker drops. After the first observer, a shuttle is warped in. My observer scouts his natural and retreats to his cliff un-noticed. About now I have Zealots/Goons/Templars and a shuttle. I drop off a templar by his cliff and storm his drones into oblivion. I smile and load up, unmolested. I gathered another two Templar and fuse them into an Archon. After the meld is complete, I move out to his base, leaving 3 templar and cannons at home.
I move outside of his base and start up pylons. Shortly after, cannons warp into place w/ a battery. Seeing my containment is successful I warp in two new nexii at the 3 o'clock main and natural. He tried to bum rush my expansion with mutas, but a newly warped in cannon w/ a couple storms killed him (he's smart enuf to dance out of storm). My nexus was saved so I now knew the game was mine. I scouted with another observer and ran into an island expansion. He had plenty of spores so I shrugged because can have it. I'm not going to waste my resources on an island. I find another expansion at 9 and shrug. We are at equal expansions, but remember for every toss expansion, the zerg need two to counter.
About now, I put up two Stargates with a Fleet Beacon, but not for carriers. Yes, that's right folks, Gay-Web. His natural was totally sunken/spored so I knew I wouldn't break it without a ton of unacceptable losses. Soon I had 12 Corsairs w/ D-web and I moved in to his natural. Everything is d-webbed and my zealots/goons (zealots were attacking the defenseless and un-d-web'd buildings) move in. I totally demolished him. Soon after I hear a "foom, boom, foom boom" and see 4 guardians. Haha, two storms and they're out! (I didn't use corsairs in case of Dev support) Then, I started to quash his main but then a bunch of cracklings ended my day (FORGOT UPGRADES *DUH*).
I was unhappy with the loss, so I expanded twice more and protected with templar/cannons. Six Gates and 3 Stargates warped in shortly at 3 and I started pumping Dragoons/DTs/Corsairs. Weird combo against Zerg right? Seems like an anti-terran strat right? Wrong! Zelogoons/Templar didn't cut it in this situation.
Enter the Carrier...
Okay, now i'm outside his base again with Corsairs/Carriers/DTs/Dragoons/Observers and I attack. I run into tons of cracklings and sunkens. D-web won't work either because even with the sunkens gone, the DTs/Dragoons were killed by sheer numbers because Carriers don't pack enough punch. Oh poo, I see him break containment (I killed all his lings w/ storm though) and head towards my 3 min only. I look at my 3 mineral only and burst out in tears because I didn't have any cannons, but wait! I have 3 DTs sitting at home collecting dust. They head over, and together with probes, the disaster is averted.
He also tried to attack my main with a LARGE force of Guardians/Devourers.... I’m gonna guess 12 of each. He ran away from storm, but then he grouped up and I got off a storm in the middle of them. *POP POP POP* Heh, too bad. His Devourers were killed later on.
I drop his 9 expansion with 2 templar and storm the entire expansion to death. Very shortly after an Archon is summoned and the Nydus is killed before it can be put to use. With that done with, the Hatchery was a dead stick. I smile, now knowing he is hurting because his island is probably mined out. More and more DT are warped in and the zerg main is quashed after many, many losses. Actually, my carriers had to clean up because DT's were dying to mass lings and a couple protected sunkens. Oh well, after I killed that off, I expanded twice more making a total of 8 bases. Only 4 mining capable though.
Well, after I quash his last defense at 3 (He tried to expand there again), he allied vis and ally. Once again I let him ally and we go back to our channel...
End Game Two
Lessons learned:
1. I needed more Archons, but WTF I like DT better.
2. Cracklings are bad vs. a smart Protoss because DTs/Storm on incoming swarms/Archons w/ 3/3/3 upgrades, which can be achieved fairly fast, (at least 3 weapons by the time they get enuf cracklings) will wipe them clean.
3. I'd have to say, once the Toss gets his 2nd expansion and Templar, the Zerg is as good as DEAD.
4. Lurker rushes don't work against a smart toss. (Well I am stupid so..)
5. Scouting owns, he didn't scout me once.
6. I should use DarkArchons more often.. Maelstrom would have been nice vs. mass guardians... (storm is wonderful!)
7. DOH! CANNONS AT EXPANSIONS!
Third and FINAL game
The players
The Map: The Lost Temple (Yaya, three times oh well)
-SSJ-Trunks (HERO!), Terran at 9 o'clock (YES!)
-SSJ-Goten (EVIL!), Protoss at 12 o'clock (Hard to turbo newbie natural =)
I did my usual BO for anti-toss... 8 Depot at Choke, 10 Rax at Choke, Scout, 11 Depot at Choke, 12 Refinery, 18 Factory, 20 Factory, 21 Eng Bay. I totally messed up this game. My micro was off, I was hitting wrong hotkeys, SCVs didn't build when I told them to, scouting expeditions were less than fruitful, and I had too many minerals at all times... *frowns*.
I went early tank fearing Dragoons, so one factory made tanks and the other made vultures. When both Machine Shops were complete, both Siege Mode and Mines were researched. Well, as it turns out, he played his containment game again. Haha, he loses every time he does this, so I play passively. He drops 2 Reavers on my base which kill one of my tanks but 8 scvs gather around the last tank, protecting it from scarabs while repairing it. The last reaver pops before he can get off a shot. Two reinforcement tanks come in and siege around the Command Center. I slowly gather tanks/vultures and eventually goliaths, while sneaking my natural expansion early (he was sitting out at my choke). I put up a starport and scanned. No cannons around his peons, so we all know what this means...
Enter the death drop....
I loaded up 4 vultures and dropped in his peon lines. *POP POP POP* goes the weasel. He storms me and, in the process, his own probes. Mines are put down and I have one vulture left. I see a templar coming to storm and I quickly move him in with the last of the probes. Needless to say, the bastard killed his own probes, and I laughed maniacally with blood dripping from my mouth. Mmmm, baked probe - It's what's for dinner! Zealots - the other other white meat! Know why? A whole bunch came in to my natural, but the Deon on Wheels Squad beat the nuts out of them with the help of The Bad Boys on Cliffs.
I sent out another platoon of peon killers to his natural and blew them all away, escaping with 26 HP on my dropship. (It was damaged from storm and his "containment lines" he placed around my base (cannons)) I scanned his 6 o’clock expand and snuck by his cannons. I set down in his peon lines and killed all of them too. He managed to save himself, but the damage was done. All three of his bases’ peons were wiped clean. It would be awhile before he would be back on his feet so...
I busted out of containment, taking out his entire long line of drop-preventing cannons. He at this point said "SH*T!" I expanded to my mineral only and gathered up Gols/Tanks/Vults for an assault on his 6 o’clock expand. I'm pumping from 4 Factories, 2 Starports, and 2 Barracks. What? Barracks? What’s that for in heavy metal? Casper is being trained, sorry. A new nuclear silo is built at my mineral only natural while I attack his 6 o'clock main. It fell relatively easily to the combined force of Gols/Tanks. I sent in the vultures and raided his peons. They died to cannon fire but not before killing the probes.
He decides to attack with 24 3/3/3 speed upped zlots but 6 vultures, some damn good placed mines, and unsieged tanks blow most of them up. An eight vulture reinforcement drives him off and I get a funny comment..
"I FU*XKING LOST AGAIN!"
Okay, I float a new CC to the now defunct 6 o'clock expansion. I didn't let him mine it much because of the repeated vulture raids/drops. So now I have 4 bases to his 2. He tries to bring up an expansion at 3, but I smack it with vultures before it can warp in (I killed off 4+ cannons before being driven off). Another nuclear silo was put up and I dropped one nuke on his ass. It did no damage ‘cept for taking out two cannons. Stupid me! NO EMP! I added EMP to the group and then I nailed his entire tech tree to his nuts (Nukes = Some nasty LONG Nails, heh heh heh...). All that was left was a forge and cyb core, which were both taken down by another nuke (there were some juicy gateways/pylons with them, so I nuked..).
I emp’d his 3 o’clock ramp cannons and nuke those, blowing all of it up. I roll into his main like a steamroller (tanks in other words..) and flatten him (He did have some cannon blockades...). I scan around and find his island secured with cannons, but not in range of everything. About this point he asked why I was toying with him (The nukes). I answered for fun so I dropped tease nukes on his cannons and scared him with several nuke-fakes (firing them nowhere). I expanded once more and maynarded scvs there. I finally continued to play cat and mouse with him and threatened to nuke his last 2 pylons/assimilator and I almost did but then I was flooded with "OK OK OK OK OK OK" and he admitted I was better =). END GAME BABY YEAH!
Lessons learned:
-Nukes own
-Casper owns
-"Observers"... anyone know what those are?
-I am like 7-0 against him, I want to lose and hopefully I will.
-EMP is essential to nuking, oops...
-Vultures own
-Terrans, if they contain you, I suggest playing passively. Take your natural and build up, then smack him in the face when he least expects it.
-Vulture/Tank drop on his plateau (expansions) and quash the cannons/peons and hopefully nexus before he figures out WTF is happening.
Actually, we played a fourth game with me at 6 and him at 12. It was TvP, but it’s not worth it since I demolished him with ghosts/infantry/tank push/battlecruisers… It was too easy... Dragoons? Lockdown. Carriers? Lockdown. Zealots/DTs? Firebats/Medics/Bunkers. Templar? Bunkers. He tried to sneak two arbiters out... but I suspected it (I scanned and saw 2 arbs.. scanned again..no arbs... so I placed a wraith and a ghost to cover his entire front line (everthing else was seen by expansions/dropships..)) My ghost caught him and I locked them both down.. then i brought in a control group of Ghosts and beat his arbiters down =] He was a dead stick =)
-TheCabbit
BTW: Update... This was written awhile ago (I hadn't the time to post it..) and now I am more than 13-0 against him.... =( |
