As the countdown ends and the game begins I begin lifting my Command Center and sparring my SCV's as I wait to be visioned.
Once the players have visioned me, I see storm''' has spawned as Purple Zerg at the 9 o'clock position and Gonzo also as Zerg at 6.
storm watches Gonzo's overlord approaches from the 6 position and realizes how close his opponent is. He opts to go for a spawning pool on 9 since an early pool by his Zerg opponent could end this game fast if he decides to two hatch. His overlord seemed to have taken a rather odd route by first traveling to the bottom left corner before turning left toward Gonzo's base. So storm still has no idea what Gonzo has in store for him.
As storm's pool begins Gonzo proceeds to execute the extractor trick. The extractor trick is when a Zerg pumps drones up to 9 control then builds an extractor and another drone then cancels the extractor to put themselves at 10/9 control. This build is designed so that a Zerg can put down a second hatchery quickly. But Gonzo, most likely in response to his overlord's scouting of storm's pool, decides to put down a pool as well.
Both players proceed to make a few lings and put a second hatchery down by their ramps.Gonzo decides to send his first 8 or so lings to test out storms defense and maybe even do some damage. But Gonzo's small force is denied by storm at his ramp.
From there the battlefield remains quiet. Both have built extractors, storm slightly before Gonzo, and have begun mining the precious vespene gas. storm has left a few lings at his choke as well as a sunken colony to in the defense of his ramp. Gonzo's ramp is bare at this point.
storm begins morphing lair and as soon as its done a spire begins. Gonzo is slower with the lair, but he has proceeded to put down a third hatchery at his natural expansion. Gonzo then begins the morphing of a hydra den and a lair at almost the same time.
storm decides it's time for some action and sends a force of zerglings out to attack Gonzo. His zerglings meet at Gonzo's mineral only to regroup before the attack. The lings are sent in, and Gonzo quickly dispatches of the threat.
With his natural safe from the zergling threat and his lair and hydra den fully morphed, Gonzo begins production of some hydralisks, and oddly decides to put down a spire.
Most Zerg vs Zerg games are decided with a good old muta/ling combo. Putting down a den is almost welcoming defeat some would say. Gonzo knows this, but seems to have put down the den earlier anyway. Most likely in response to his lair being much slower then storm's. With his lair then spire coming much slower then storm's I assume he didn't want to get caught with his pants down without any anti-air when storm's mutas came. hmm..evolution chamber and spores? who knows!
storm has camped a small force of about 10 lings and 4 mutas outside Gonzo's base preparing for an attack. Gonzo notices the enemy on the outskirts of his base and decides he can take care of the threat before reinforcements arrive.
 
He's wrong.
Although his force was decimated there 3 newly morphed mutalisks come to finish off storm's weakened mutas and the zergling threat. storm being no fool, retreats to his base.
All is silent for a little while longer as both players build up forces. Gonzo finally decides it's time for an attack and starts his force of hydralisks lings and mutas towards storms base. storm sees the attack coming and decides he can hold his choke without his mutas. He gathers his mutas and and prepares for an attack on what he hopes to be Gonzo's naked main.
As Gonzo's force reaches storm's ramp, storm send his mutas flying into Gonzos base. He quickly destroys the several hydras guarding the base then begins wreaking havoc on his drones.
At the same time Gonzo's attack on storms' base is failing, even without the help of the mutalisks which are pummeling Gonzo's drones, storm successfully holds off the attack. But his 3 remaining mutas at Gonzo's are forced to flee to when met by Gonzo's 3 newly hatched mutas. storm flees to the safety of a spore colony in his main, and turns around to attack the chasing mutas, this time its Gonzo whos forced to retreat.
After chasing Gonzo's mutas away storm regroups his pack of mutalisks for another attack on Gonzo's main. This time the results are even more devastating.
 
storms' mutalisks proceed to destroy Gonzo's spire and hydralisk den. Without any means of producing any anti-air units, Gonzo leaves the game.
