As I get out the shuttle took off and I saw the usual 4 scv's and command center that I would be controlling. I always wondered how these command centers conviently found themselves on the planet...I asked Terran intelligence once and they just said, "Why not just ask what the point of life is while you're at it!" Ever since this war started reality seemed to be altered.
I immediatly ordered the scv's to start mining, but remembered to assign each one to a separate patch. It was quite wierd how all scv's wouldn't mine a patch if there was someone else on it. There was plenty of room...ah well. The "Wire Lady" told me I had an incoming transmission. I put it on the big screen. It was the protoss commander Azzkicker. "Hello thea sha," he said, "Welcome to the planet TOW. It sheems the zsherg hash landed ash well. Sho far itsh behavior ish like that of any other zsherg. Maybe it really jusht wantsh corn nutsh too. Anyway, we'll be shcouting for the enemiesh." With that the transmission cut out.
I had been ordering up nothing but scv's till the 8th one where i asked him to build a supply depot. He moved over to the ordered location where part of the foundation just magically appeared....just like in real life. The scv busily used his magic drill to finish the depot. When he was done I told him to drive around the planet until he found something.
"DAMMIT! Why do I always get this job?"
"Would you rather mine vespene gas?"
"Ah hell no! I'm going!"
As my scv's were growing in number I order 2 of them to make 2 barracks. I then received a communication from the protoss commander.
"Azshkicker hea sha. I have located both of the zsherg hivesh. I'm punching their coordinatesh in now."
"How are there defenses?"
"Both of them only sheem to have dronesh and a shpawning pool...oh wait, they did build shome zsherglingsh...12 zsherglinsh en route to your bashe."
"Thanks for the news dickhead!"
"Don't panic sha, i have 3 zshealotsh on the way to your bashe right now."
"Our zerg ally is closer though! Have you tried to contact him?"
"Yesh, when I did, he kinda made shome gurgling shound...I hope he realizshesh he'sh on our shide."
I had to cut the transmission because I saw the zerglings coming over the hill. I have about 12 scv's and 2 marines.
"Open fire marines!" They fired upon them as they approached. As the zerglings grew closer, the marines just stood there firing away.
"Marines! Fall back and continue firing!"
"That's a negative sir. That would be a violation of Blizzard code 446. We may stand and fire or fall back and not fire, you decide."
Curse that Blizzard code! So I told the marines to fall back...and they started walking back!!
"Marines! Get your lead in gear and book it back to base!"
"That's a negative sir. Violation of Blizzard code 445; marines are only allowed to walk really fast, no running. The really sad part was that these marines actually followed the Blizzard code...along with the entire Terran military. Anyway, the marines got mowed over and the zerglings pressed their attack.
"Attention scv's, this is a red alert! Engage the oncoming zerglings." The scv's stopped mining and confronted the zerglings. They activated their drills and attempted to damage the zerglings. Some of the zerglings were dying, but I was losing my scv's faster. Two more marines were ready from the barracks and I sent them to join in the conflict. After seeing 2 more scv's get killed, the zerglings all perished. I sent them back to mining and then saw some marines coming over the hill! Damn these guys were trying to gang bang me. I was about to be overwhelmed when I saw the marines open fire on the hill.
"My life for corn nuts!"
I was saved. The zealots tore down the marines and stayed at the top of the hill defending my base. I thanked the protoss commander and continued to get marines and replenish my scv's. I then got a communication from my scouting scv.
"Sir, I have found the terran base, a couple barracks and a bunker i can see so far, moving in for a closer look."
Realizing he was going right toward the bunker like an idiot i said, "Return to base now!"
"What was that sir? Some high latency just kicked in."
With that he was dead. Damn that high latency! So many lives had been taken by it. No one knew what it was. Some crazy people even thought it aided with some battles. I personally didn't care for it, but there was nothing I could do about it. Anyway, since my rambling, I put up a refinery and an academy to get some stimpacks and medics. Why medics would not appear out of the barracks until i had an academy was beyond me. Maybe the screaming guy in the academy attracted them out or something. When I had about 4 medics and 8 marines, I decided to see what I could do to the terran base. If he still only had one bunker I might be able to do some damage. And so I sent them off... |
