"Sir! Veteran Marine unit 794 reporting of a conflict on the grounds of the Lost Temple!"
"Go Ahead." Replied the Commander.
"At approximately 9:00 Hours, our research station on the site of the Lost Temple found a Zerg infestation to the West. A new Brood, one that has never been seen before, showed itself on our scanners. They seem to be called the "Skull Brood," led by Cerebrate Smoking-Skull. Action was immediately taken to eradicate the Zerg presence from the area. Our Commander -- Commander SCV, known that way for doing everything himself, by hand -- was informed of this and instructed the SCV units to quickly begin preparations for war.
Depots for the incoming supply shipments were set up, and a Barracks for the training of Marines. The commander was quick to construct a Secondary Command Center and second Barracks. Marines were called out from my Barracks to suit up for battle, while I awaited my call of duty.
I watched as SCV's began mining operations at the adjacent resource node, and a Bunker was constructed. Refineries were put up and Factories in rapid sucession. All around the Barracks, our base camp was constantly growing, suiting up new Marines in 3 and soon to be 6 Barracks, and assembling Tanks for Battle from 2 Factories. I watched as a small force of about 20 fellow Marines left the Barracks, accompanied by 4 Medics, to make the first assault on the Zerg Hive cluster.
The battle was projected on the public view screen, and was not pretty. I turned my head away as numerous Marines were spiked from underground, and the rest fled from the scene. Our attack had failed, and now the Commander was taking a different route to defeat the enemy Cerebrate: Smoking-Skull.
Dropships were assembled from the new Starports and ferried an expansion busting team over the ledge of the now fully producing Zerg natural outpost. A standard Bunker / Turret formation was put up, and the Tank sieged. The expansion was thrown into commotion, and all the mining Drones fled. A second siege was set up, this one just out of reach of the Zerg Colony. But when the Marines and Tank moved in, they were ruthlessly slaughtered by underground spikes and were forced to flee at the new enemy: Lurkers.
A signal light started blinking, which signaled my call into battle. I suited up, and set out on my scouting mission around the Temple grounds. And I found a new Hatchery towards the South. I kneeled and started shelling the Zerg monstrosity, until reinforcements arrived to finish up.
We had a few minutes of rest before our small force was loaded into Dropships now coming overhead, and made the journey to the heart of the Zerg Hive Cluster. More Marines and Tanks were ferried in, and we charged into the base. Subterranean Spines from Lurkers ripped through columns of Marines, but I was lucky to evaid these until the Tanks were able to blast them away. Reinforcements stimmed out of their transports and joined the fight, now taking down the primary source or control for the Zerg Brood.
I awaited the order to attack, but it was not sounded for a large force of Gaurdians was assaulting the main encampment! They took down many structures before our new Wraith and Valkyrie squadron could destroy them. Soon the order was sent, and we charged in along with Tanks to demolish the fearful Zerg defenses.
Twice we charged the Zerg choke, and twice the force was repelled, losing many of their number, but I was luckily accompanied by a Medic who was able to save my life. The third time we were successful in taking down the resistance, and so ending the new Brood and its Cerebrate, Smoking-Skull."
"Very good, Private. Keep me informed of any other conflicts on the Temple."
