I’ll make this one quick. Sorry about the lack of pictures, but we were without an observer, and I was busy with intense micro/macro for almost all of the 12 minutes.

Map:............ Players: Carnal XTC (Terran)
.................Shakazulu (Protoss) AKA ~WhiteChocolate~

The game started out with semi-rush builds, with XTC going for barracks on 8, supply on 9, scout on 10, and an early refinery. ~WC~ went for a pylon and 2 gates, (later followed by a cyber core and forge). Eventually the SCV reached the greeting party, but through some simple micro, he managed to avoid the psi-sodomy of the zealots.

As he retreated, he met up with 4 marines who had, hearing his distress call, decided it was a good time to take action. The marines then kindly escorted the shaken SCV back to… the Protoss base! The marines hit pot shots at the less-than-zealous foes while the SCV ran interference. After eliminating one of zealot’s number (and losing the brave SCV), the 4 marines ran to the safety of the outside.

At this point, ~WC~ built a pylon and shield battery at his choke in hopes of creating a stronger fortification. During this lag time, XTC had built another Barracks and a factory, and sent 3 vultures down to meet the now 8 marines. Upon setting an effective minefield outside the Protoss choke, he feigned an attack with the marines (careful not to let the vultures be seen). The arrogant executor, falsely underestimating the foe, followed the outnumbered marines into the grip of a quick and merciless death.

~WC~ let out a wail of miserable disappointment and proceeded to build a couple dragoons and a cannon to complement the surviving zealots. Sensing a very strong upper hand on his part, XTC, had produced another vulture, a tank, several firebats and sent them to join the standing forces.

As the Protoss defenses neared completion, XTC dropped a mine adjacent to the 2 incomplete cannons and planted his tank into the fleshy dirt. A zealot desperately ran at the tank, but in doing so, set off the mine, devastating himself and one of the cannons. In last desperate “fling of force,” ~WC~ told his last troops to charge at the enemy forces. When at last the combined power of XTC’s army rained down on the base, there was little left to kill, leaving ~WC~ to whimper a shameful “gg” before he was trampled into the rubble.

Final status? 12 minutes, with 3 losses for XTC and 36 losses for ~WC~. That’s 12:1 in a Terran vs. Toss match-up. Granted, ~WC~ wasn’t playing a strong game, but this was excessive.

Lessons Learned:
1. By putting on the pressure early, constantly, and effectively, you can grind anyone’s face into the ground.
2. Early spider mines can win the game for you.
3. Retreating into a minefield when the odds are low is a good way to score some easy kills.
4. Keep a good mix of units with terran.
5. Dancing your forces is like cheating, if you can do it right.
6. Terran can stomp Protoss, but it requires a dynamic playstyle.

Battle Shots!
