I met this guy in nohunters called FrankieVegas. After whois him, i find out he is actually whoop. So i challenge him to a 1V1. Temple is agreed upon, as t_mac joins the game as an observer and a lagger:p
Me (upgradedkakaru) : terran 9 oclock (picked)
Whoop : terran 12 oclock (randomed)
My build order went this way:
8 depot
scout is sent and finds whoop at 12, the first spot i scouted
11 rax
12 gas
14 depot
15 fact
Double port for wraith rush (one with a control tower for cloak)
So im planning to do a fast 5 wraith rush with cloak
The peon sent after i built my depot brought back some valuable information. Whoop went depot, rax, but he hasnt got any gas yet, and im about to start my factory. So it looks like im way ahead of me, and i m wondering whats going on. As my scv is on the way back to my base, I find out he may have early expanded. This thought was confirmed as I scouted his natural. It looks like hes planing an early expansion with turet tactic, shortly followed by 3 port wraiths.
Shortly after, my 5 wraiths are ready, with cloak researched. As I send them to the left of his base, I scan and discover a turet, so I decide to hurt his choke, where I manage to take out a bunker and prevent the making of a turet before I am forced to retreat.
After this failure, I decide to expand twice. I build a command center at my natural, and one at the south edge of my main, which I will float to the 6 oclock main.
Soon I start maynard transfering, and decide to add up another 2 ports, making it 4 ports in total. I also get 4 rax, and start pumping marines, as I also start up the air upgrades from 2 armories and the infantry upgrades from a single ebay.
I now have about 18 wraiths, and I am floating a cc to the north west island, and building another at my mineral only. I scan the expansions around whoop, and my patrols reveal he has expanded at the 3 oclock spot. If he doesnt expand in the very near future, it looks like i will have a mineral advantage. So i happily add up another 2 ports (i have now 6), and start pumping a few tanks from a single factory.
Attacks seem to be made impossible since whoop is heavily guarded with tanks and turets, and my mobile wraiths enable me to take out any forces that havent got detection. I scan Whoops expansion and discover he has started a large air production at his main.
Suddenly, my thoughts are interrupted by the noise of arclite blasts somewhere in my bases. My minimap indicates an atack at my natural, and I realise the tank shells are falling from the cliff. Theres a bunch of turets over there, but only on the east side of it. He also has a control group of wraiths surrounding his tanks. This tank cliffing hurts me a lot, since i have to reatreat all the scvs from both my natural and min only. Fortunately, my wraiths upgrades hit 1/1/1 and i send them to the cliff, where they take out whoops wraiths (i lose quite a few thouhg) and they take out the tanks that arent protected by turets. Once I have taken care of that, I siege 3 tanks and destroy the turets on the cliff. His siege actually lasted for about 3-4 minutes, which was enough to make it cost effective.
In the meanwhile, he has started a cc at the 3 oclock natural, but I destroy it with my cloaked wraiths as it is done building.
Fearing another tank cliffing, I scan whoops main, as well as i expand to the 6oclock natural. At 12oclock , I see 2 shutles loading some stuff. wow, lucky shot: i send some wraiths there taking both shutles out; however i lose 2 wraiths. Now I have started a large 6 rax marine puming, and I am still pumping tanks from a single factory, and wriahts from 6 ports. My air upgrades hit 2/2/2, this is when I decide i have stayed long enough on the defensive, and my mineral advantage allows me to make an atack on whoop. I send my marines to his 3 oclock main expansion, with 3 tanks and 2 scvs, escorted by 16 wraiths. I start siege there, but my marines are taken out by tanks, and i see myself forced to send some more heavy metal over there.
I did a good job there; my 3-4 tanks are good ground defense, and i have 2 turets, a bunk and 12 wraiths there. It looks like my push could work.
Reacting to this attack, Whoop sends 3 dropships and 24 wraiths to my cliff. I get lucky again and my marine spots the drop as it leaves his base. Its not as successful as the first one. I send the 24 wraiths i can gather from all my bases, and atack his force before he can erect turets. His 2 valks hurt me, but my wraiths carefully placed apart end up winning the fight, thanks to superior number and upgrades. A turet or 2 have been erected, but they dont cover his tanks, which i take out with wraiths.I finish the turets with my wraiths too, since i am impatient and am willing to lose 2 wraiths rather than sieging my tanks :) lazy me.
At this point Whoop is left with a mined out natural and a 3 oclock expansion still fully operational , but a tank push has been started there. He sends wraiths to take care of my push, but he makes a mistake or 2 in micro and loses them (maybe his kids were bullying him :( and he couldnt focus on the micro). My marine and wraith force is growing really large, and I have a large number of well defended expansions.
At this point, Whoop concedes with a gg. GG whoop! Hes really good , and i m sure his toss kicks my teran ass anyway:)
After this we play a 2v2 together where we outressource our oponents by 3 expansions each to 1 for each of them :)
Hope u enjoyed the report!
