This report was written by Ahscar-X. However, while Ahscar-X slept in preparations for the first day of class in the new semester, Eggfoo-young has burned the midnight oil to present another edition of EFY battlereports. So give credit where credit is due: To Ahscar for writing, and to EFY for graphics, html, revising, and the itty bitty bit of CSS in here. So now, without further delay, enjoy the read and don't forget to hold your mouse over the pictures!

Ah yes, a classic matchup right? NAH Axis-X is probably going to get slaughtered.
While goofing around the other day, I got a message from Ambro-X to join a game. I decided to take him up on his offer to find that Apex-X was also in there along with Axis-X, and it turns out they have decided to lock it up in a 1on1 on the map that needs no introduction (LOST TEMPLE).

The pregame setup:

Map: Lost Temple

Players:
Ambro-XProtoss and has his red nexus warps in at the six'o'clock)
Axis-XTerran and has his orange command center at nine'o'clock)

Ambro-X Does a double gate build order and a quick attack.
The game begins and Ambro-X does a double gate build order and an early assimilator. He takes his first zealot to Axis's base. The zealot meets up with a tired probe, which has visited all the other starting positions, and together these two units trek around the plateau and about half way up the ramp before they meet gunfire from a modest count of 6 marines. Ambro-X uses keen judgement and decides to not proceed. He also redirects his other zealots back to his base and wisely starts making goons.
Apex-X offers his opinion

Axis-X goes 2 rax, attacks and loses all his forces.
Axis-X started the game with a conservative 2 rax build order and after fending off Ambro-X's initial zealot, masses a good dozen marines and starts them on their way to counter his foe. However, the marines meet up with a few stray zealots and shots break out before the remaining zealot decides to run back to the safety of his base. Axis-X finally has all his men positioned outside of Ambro-X's main base and prompts the marines to go up the ramp. The marines are pounded by fire from 4 goons, while a pair of zealots hack into their frail bodies. Axis-X realizing that he cannot see up the ramp and that Ambro-X's defense obviously will hold this intrusion, wisely decides to pull his men back to the safety of his base. Ok I lied, Axis-X actually got all of his marines killed, that's right, all 12 of them and the marines only sent a pair of zealots and a goon sent to back to Auir.
Ambro-X discusses the virtues of Dragoons

Ambro-X sends out goons, but wisely retreats.
Ambro-X seeing the efficiency of his defense decides to go on the offensive and sends 6 goons toward Axis-X while taking his natural and teching for those dreaded Dark Templar. Upon arrival the goons make the familiar trek around 9 o'clock's plateau and find that 8 marines and a siege tank are awaiting their arrival. After getting blasted a couple times by seige fire the goons decide to backtrack out of there.

It happens to all of us
Axis-X promply seizes this opportunity to try for an expansion. The command center is half done before an invisible assassain deals it death. In a wise move Axis-X decides to cancel the command center and starts detection by means of a turret at the bottom of his ramp and also starts a command center in his main so that he may later float it to it's proper position.
Ambro-X uses a DT to kill a CC, and Axis-X begins to seige up Ambro-X's base.
Axis-X keeps real busy during all of this and also decides to use his position and siege tanks to his benefit. He sets up a pair of siege tanks at the bottom of his plateau so that he may seige across to the toss's base. With a newly built dropship he loads two more tanks and proceeds to drop them in the gulley, and with the assistance of a prefloated Engineering bay he sieges up and opens fire on Ambro-X's base.
Here's where all the action is

Ambro-X defends against the seige again, and expands. Apex-X offers more of his wisdom.
Ambro-X notices that he is being fired upon and a lone dark templar is ordered to neutralize the threat. The Tanks are quickly dealt with and Axis-X, being the great player that he is, orders more tanks to be dropped and dealt with by Ambro-X's forces. Apex-X, out of frustration yells some obscenities, and tells Axis-X about Axis-X's lack of a brain. Apex-X also gives Axis-X some advice. Ambro-X decides to take his mineral only and the 3 o'clock main while while Axis-X is wasteing his force on futile attempts to siege the gully.
Apex-X is overflowing with opinion this game

Axis-X expands twice, and Ambro-X defends against more seiging (with psi-storm also this time).
Axis-X floats his newly built command center to his natural and starts working scvs there. While at his attempt to seige the toss's base he finds that his attempts are really doing no good because Ambro-X is wisely defending with well placed psi's and a nice attack squad composed of a half dozen goons and zealots. Psi-storms along with more troops take out the seiging forces Axis-X produces more troops and realizes that he needs more minerals to support his now 2 rax 3 fact 1 starport production, so he starts a command center at his mineral only expansion.

Ambro-X steps up production, and takes out a tank, but his goons are lured to their deaths.
Ambro-X adds a gateway to his main and warps in 3 new gateways at his 3 o'clock expansion. He also starts a robotics and some reavers, while continuing to produce more goons, zealots, and templar. At this point he sees that his probes at his mineral only expansion are being blasted by siege fire, so being the caring player that he is, he moves the rest of the probes and goes to investigate. He notices that Axis-X has taken the liberty to seige a tank within range of his probes and sends his pack of a dozen mixed goons/zealots toward the lone tank. The tank is dealt with, but in not paying attention to the tanks on the cliff, his goons are lured around the plateau where they are all plastered. Why was Ambro-X not paying attention? Well the answer is.. well it's not certain, but I'm going to have to say that he was busy with a probe at the 12 o'clock position building a new nexus.

Axis-X begins a large frontal assault, while Ambro-X steps up his defense.
Axis-X notices Ambro-X's folly, decides to stop funding his attack through the gully, and begins a frontal assalt on toss's mineral only expansion. 3 tanks, a pair of vultures and half a dozen marines are dipatched toward the exposed toss base. 8 goons and a templar appear on the scene to defend.
The attack force dwindles...

Axis-X gets psi'd, wins a battle, commits many marines to untimely deaths, but takes out an expansion and saves his own.
Axis-X wisely sets down mines but unwisely clumps all his marines together. The latter resulted in a nice psi-storm from Ambro-X's templar before it is irridiated. Surprisingly Terran wins the battle with one seige tank still operating. The mines played a big part taking out a whole 4 goons. Axis-X doesn't let up and sends more marines to get psied. Clump just is not a good sounding word Yes dozens go into battle vs 5 templars a reaver and a goon and none come back. These attempts are not in vain though, he does manage to take out that expansion while also distracting Ambro-X from attacking his own lightly defended mineral only expansion.

Ambro-X defends, then sets off to attack, and finds Apex-X being sneaky!
Ambro-X scoffs at Axis-X's attempts and easily defends against the oncoming five tanks and countless marines with his templar/reaver combination. Ambro-X also finds that his 12 o clock is now being harrassed by a vulture, and in response, he sends a pair of zealots to disassemble the vulture. With the vulture dealt with, he warps in two gateways and starts probe production. With the all of Axis-X's offense now neutralized, Ambro-X loads up some units.. some DEADLY units... into two shuttles and heads toward top left circling around and enroute toward Axis-X's naturals. On his way there he notices that Apex-X has actually been mining minerals at top left and drops the "observer's" little city. He then reloads some of his deadly cargo and continues to his destination when......

Apex-X is definately a handful

There has never been a double dis like this before!
Look just how close it was too!

Yes folks it seems that these two competitors are lame disconnectors! Can you believe it! Double Disc =[

So what have we learned?
Know when to stop seiging something and attack
Know when to pull your forces back to fight another day

Never let Apex-X out of your sights
And most of all...
A-X = BAD MANNER!
:P
Maybe they'll get together for a rematch...
