GAME 2

Introduction
I'm baaaacckk!! This second match of a best-of-three series between my two close friends JOKER.NO.$321 and Brian410 is much more exciting (in my opinion) then the first. This match was on Dire Straits, an island map, giving a little variety and reducing some of the imbalance complaints. Hope you enjoy this one!

3:40 P.M.

The match started as both players started out with build orders I see rarely (like the last game). Joker.no.$321, the leader of this series 1-0, chose random and drew Protoss at the 8 o' clock (or 7:30 I'm not sure) position. I took a minimap picture that's to the right.Brian410 had chosen Zerg, his preferred race, and took the 10 o' clock (or 10:30 again, I'm not sure). Joker.no.$321 took to a build that was done like the following: Pylon on the 7th probe, Gateway on the 8th probe, Gas on the tenth probe and Pylon on the 11th probe. Brian410 clones his drones perfectly and then sent his overlord to the right. He then performed the Extractor trick (which is when you have 9/9 supply and then build an Extractor to bring the supply down to 8/9. Then you build a drone and cancel the Extractor to have an extra drone) and got a Hatchery on 10. He gets a real Extractor on his 12th drone and a Spawning Pool while the Hatchery is building. Finally an Evolution Chamber follows the Spawning Pool.

3:49 P.M.

Brian410 is obviously attempting to hydralisk drop because uh... he's making lots of hydralisks. But a mistake is made by the careful Brian410. He has yet to make any use of the Evolution Chamber. That's right, no upgrades and no Spore Colonies. Brian410 IS looking to upgrade his overlords although he didn't upgrade his hydralisks as he morphs his two Hatcheries into Lairs for the speed and transport ability upgrades.
Joker.no.$321 on the other hand, is completly the opposite of Brian410. He has no units whatsoever besides tons of probes and is very vulnerable to any kind of attack. He begins finally to set up some kind of defense as he sets up 2 Photon Cannons.

3:51 P.M.

Brian410 has gotten the transport upgrade but he still has no speed upgrade despite the two Lairs he now has. In the meanwhile, Joker.no.$321 is building all his key buildings. He has 2 Stargates pumping out corsairs and a

Robotics Facility warping in. He finally has his first two Gateway units, 2 zealots. And he doesn't have a clue that 5 overlords are to drop many blood lusted hydralisks on his poorly defended base.

3:52 P.M.

Brian410 now has overlord speed upgrade and is loading up the hydralisks in to the overlords. He screams out his order to the anxious overlords as his glasses flare red and he sneers a evil but confident grin...

*****

Brian410 is about to be greatly disappointed because Joker.no.$321 calls up his first corsairs and puts them right in the path of which the overlords should come. Joker.no.$321, not knowing Brian410 is going to drop, gets lucky this time...

3:54 P.M.

The cerebrate Brian410 was now sending his trusty overlords to Joker's base. Their mission was simple: To drop the bloodthirsty hydralisks onto the supposedly unexpected probe line. But the usual dropper, Joker.no.$321, cannot be dropped on... Joker.no.$321 had put some more Photon Cannons to protect against the deadly hydralisk drop. Also, Joker.no.$321 had warped in corsairs to intercept the overlords as they came. The unfortunate cerebrate lost most of his overlords and hydralisks as the corsairs blinded the overlords to death with their lights.
Brian410 had two choices, to flee and suffer heavy losses, or to take the risk and drop with his now feeble forces. Brian410 took the chance and dropped. Then he also found out the hard way that hydralisks work better in numbers. Brian410 had no choice but to order the hydralisks to aim for the Photon Cannons as his hydralisk force was way too small to rid of the corsairs before the overlords died. The hydralisks went down quickly by the combination of reavers and zealots as the blood-splattered probes set to work for their commander again.

Joker.no.$321 seemed to be pleased with this victory as he ordered up a martini, stirred, not shaken =)...

3:57 P.M.

Joker.no.$321 saw the weakness of the failed drop and knowing Brian410 had no units protecting his base, decided to go overlord hunting. He was pretty successful at this because about 4 overlords blew up into reddish-brown stuff Brian410 explains more about in the following screenshot.
Hydralisks tried hard to save their masters but to no avail. Joker.no.$321 then flew his corsairs away as they were getting a brutal beating.

3:59 P.M.

Brian410 was weakened by the corsair raid but he knew he had to go offensive. So with a snap of his finger and a click of his Smartmouse, he ordered up some new overlords for another hydralisk drop. Joker.no.$321, unaware Brian410 was going to attempt another hydralisk drop, had gotten ready for some more overlord hunting as he set up his corsairs just to the right of Brian410's main.

4:00 P.M.

Brian410 decided that it was the time to attack so again he ordered his new overlords the same mission as last time. 6 overlords were approaching Joker's lightly defended main. Corsairs intercepted the overlords again but this time Brian410 was a bit wiser. He dropped all his hydralisks at the spot of where the overlords were intercepted. The hydralisks drove away the corsairs and got back into the Ventral Sacs of the overlords to continue on their mission. The drop was successful as Brian ordered the hydralisks to kill the sparse Photon Cannons Joker.no.$321 had constructed to defend his probesNow, I was thinking to myself "Go for the freakin probes!!". I didn't know Brian410 had a trick up his sleeve. As the charging probes killed most of the hydralisks and the hydralisks killed most of the Photon Cannons, I began to see that long lines of Subterranean Spines were hitting one of the Stargates. LURKERS!!! But Joker.no.$321 saw the lurkers much earlier than I did. He already had an Observatory to call up some observers to rid of the dangerous, burrowing creatures. Although the lurkers killed a lot of the units and had severly damaged the Stargate, they were no match for the reaver Joker.no.$321 had secretly constructed and the 6 zealots that accompanied it. I believe Brian410 was happy with the results of this drop but was grieved that more overlords had perished due to the returning corsairs.

4:03 P.M.

After he dispatched the lurkers that had harrassed him, Joker.no.$321 had expanded nakedly to the player spot to his right. Brian410, had yet to set up an expansion although his income was reducing quickly. Without him knowing Joker.no.$321 had expanded, Brian410 set up for another doom drop and also expanded nakedly to the right.

4:05 P.M.

The newest overlords, filled with hydralisks again flew their slow butts to Joker.no.$321's main to wreak up some more havoc. Joker.no.$321, this time, was ready. He had set up a fleet of corsairs to intercept the overlords, as the others continually harrased Brian410. Brian410, despite the lucky bum he is, was again forced to land his hydralisks at the expansion that was right under them to ward of the corsairs again. As the corsairs fled, overlords once again rumbled their way to the mineral line of the Protoss. Meanwhile Joker.no.$321, the drop fanatic he is, had been setting up his own drop. Reavers and zealots blocked the right hook of the hydralisks and gave Brian410 a right hook of their own as you (my fans [ahem]) will see...

4:08 P.M.

Joker.no.$321 was preparing for his reaver/corsair strat by getting 4 reavers, 2 zealots and his remaining corsairs he had from the battles before. As Joker.no.$321 flew towards Brian410's main, he saw the early stages of the expansion Brian410 was making and quickly disposed of it. The drop on Brian410 was as expected as a pop quiz on calculus in the first grade. Hydralisk after hydralisk went down to the deadly combination of corsairs, reavers and zealots. Brian410 was drained of hydralisks as he couldn't make anymore due to the corsairs aiming their light bulbs at the overlords. Brian410 realized he couldn't win as reavers blasted the Spire and Hydralisk Den into icky goo and allowed Joker.no.$321 to beat on his forces. Then he typed in the forbidden letters "gg" as his last building was hacked down.

Lessons Learned:

-Overlords die a horrible death to corsairs [gasp!!]
-Reaver scarabs are actually big peanuts engulfed in magic archon light.
-Corsairs are good
-If a strategy you are aiming for repeatedly doesnt work, CHANGE YOUR STRATEGY!!!
-Corsairs are good
-Reaver scarabs are actually big peanuts engulfed in magic archon light.

-Corsairs are still good

This series was well played by both competitors

Anything that was taken the wrong way (perhaps as a flame, I dunno how that would happen but nonetheless...) was not intentional.

I'll be back!
