In this corner, the world champion, hailing from Quebec, his real name is Gulliame Patry, he's the winner of every tournement he's entered in forever, and fresh off of a final four win against [9]eVERLAST... X'Ds~Grrrr!
Are you ready? I said... ARE YOU RRRREADY?
You might be ready, but Hone and Frank from i2e2 weren't. Hone gave a nice official speech, playing up to the fact that sponser Frank was there, and Frank complimented the players on their mad skillz. Being smartasses, Mark4 and I made snide remarks back and forth about the official proceedings. Do me a favor and don't tell anyone ok?
The Actual Game
After Frank downloaded the map on his Hamster in a Wheel driven internet connection, we all went and shaved the beards we had grown while waiting (except X'Ds~Grrrr..., cause all he has is peach fuzz)... anyway, after everyone was finally ready to go the game began on Grrrr's chosen map, Polaris Prime.
Both players chose Zerg, which is October's race of choice at all times. Both players sent out overlord scouts along the borders of the map, but since they started in opposite corners, they only knew of each other's locations by process of elimination. Both players pulled their overlords back immediately after scouting, and Grrrr began his Spire about five seconds before October.
At this point, their builds deviated. October went for a queen's nest and early Hive for queens, mutas and devourers. Grrrr went for the more basic mutas and scourges. Of course, during the buildup to air, there was no fighting. October fortified his main with three spore colonies around his workers to compensate for his low troop count, and Grrrr pumped Muta and Scourge.

Skirmishes
X'Ds gathered a force of about 9 mutas and attack moved them in a zig-zag across the map down to his opponent. If October had been foolish enough to leave and overlord out, Grrrr would have killed it. A large group of scourge followed the muta force.
By this time, October had created 3 Devourers, about 5 mutas and a queen with ensnare. If Grrrr had simply rushed in to test October's drone line, the game would have been over right there... but Grrrr didn't fall off the turnip truck at the same time I did, yesterday.
Unfortunately for October, he didn't know there was a large flock sitting to the northwest of his base, and he began sending 4 overlords, each with a drone, off to "make multi". Fun Fact: Koreans call expansions "multis". Grrrr had other ideas about multis and proceded to individually kick the ass of each of the four overlords. Seconds later, October engaged him with ensnare and acid spores.
Grrrr clone scourged the enemy mutalisks, so while his own mutalisks were ensnared and covered in 9 acid spores, October didn't have any mutalisks to mop up with though. Grrrr retreated his messy, but virtually intact, force until the spell effects wore off.
X'Ds~Grrrr... bad manner, get too many multis ok?
Both players continued to build up. Grrrr couldn't take October out at this point, so he expanded 4 times, virtually simultaneously. October had a window of opportunity to take back the air war, and he instinctively knew that he had to act soon... October had skipped school to play, so surely, he wanted to win!
October flew north with 3 Devourers and about 9 Mutalisks, a queen went with them. October discovered Grrrr's expansion at 12:00 and began to destroy it. Grrrr attack moved his mutas, about 12, north, right through where the queen was floating. It looked like the valuable queen would die before casting, but October got the ensnare off as the queen exploded and hit all but one of Grrrr's mutalisks. October attacked in with his Devourers, then his mutalisks, and began to really shred Grrrr's airborne army. Grrrr had a trick up his sleeve though. He clone scourged the devourers and mutalisks of October, and won the battle with four barely living mutalisks.

October surrenders
Realizing that without air control, he'd never prevent Grrrr from powering him over, October surrendered with GOOD MANNER and asked for vision. Personally, I think it would have been more interesting if October had cursed and accused Grrrr of cheating, then disconnected, but alas, I have no contraversy to report. October was a very good sport about losing, and Grrrr was a gracious winner. Here too, it would have been more interesting if Grrrr had talked alot of smack about October's mother, but... oh well.
Game one of the best of 3 finals goes to X'Ds~Grrrr...

Lesson's Learned
A - Scourge, when cloned in after a fight has begun, own.
B - October went for a bit too much tech and suffered.
C - With the top players, everything comes down to one or two battles.
D - X'Ds~Grrrr... ducked Mark4's challenge after the series was over, saying that Mark4 owned too much. (or something like that, the details are blurry)
