Prologue:
The Arbiter, arguably one of the most underused units in Starcraft/Brood War today. Its
height on the tech tree along with its unbelievable consumption of vespian gas keeps this unit in Starcraft obscurity.
However, Big Game Hunters changes the perspective a bit. The no rush rule along with the huge amounts of gas on this map allow for any unit, even an arbiter, to be produced in mass.
The following is a 1vs1 game on BGH that I played against RagingCyco.
The Game:
I scrolled down through the long list of BGH games and it didn't take me long to find what I was looking for, "1vs1 BGH No Rush!". I quickly double-clicked the game name and found myself in the game room.
"No rush k?" said RagingCyco.
"No rush," I agreed, and the game began.
The game started with me in the bottom middle starting spot and RagingCyco in the top middle.
I went for a fast tech build going pylon, gate, assimilator, assimilator, cy core. After starting on the cy core, I built a forge. Then I sent my probe out to the choke that connected the bottom middle and bottom left starting positions to the middle of the field. Holding this choke would allow me to have access to 6 vespian geysers. I built two pylons and then started working on cannons until about 15 of them were blocking the choke.
Back in my base I now had a citadel, templar archive, 3 stargates, and was warping in an arbiter tribunal. I expanded 3 times until I had a nexus at all four resource spots in the bottom left corner of the map. However, since my build was so gas intensive, I was only mining minerals out of my main base. My 3 expansions were used for mining gas only.
I finally decided to send a probe out to scout and find
out what my opponent was up to. Would I be facing mass dragoons? Reavers? Carriers? I scouted in a counterclockwise manner, finding my opponent in the top middle. We were about 10 minutes into the game and I was relieved to see that there wasn't much to worry about yet.
I built a second cy core for double air upgrades and then started working on arbiters. I made sure that I had an arbiter in each queue. If I had an arbiter in each queue, both air upgrades were going, and I had 150 in gas left, then I would build another stargate.
When I had 16 arbiters, I decided to send another probe out to scout. I needed to find out what my arbiters would be facing. A shadow passed over my probe as he got close to Cyco's base. He looked up and saw a scout flying overhead. He quickly ran into Cyco's main base and ran right into an archon. The archon blasted him into oblivion. Hmmm, scouts and archons. This could be tougher than I thought. I kept producing arbiters though, hoping for the best.
When my count of arbiters reached 36, I had a total of 9 stargates operating. My air upgrades had reached 2/2. I hotkeyed my 36 arbiters to 3 hotkeys and then moved out towards Cyco's base.

I arrived in his base and began using stasis. Since he had opted not to use any cannons for
defense, my aribiters could stasis all his troops completely unhindered. I stasised a few scouts, some archons and dark archons, a couple of goons, and then just for spite, some zealots and probes. Then I started laying into his buildings. You'd be surprised how much damage 36 2/2 Arbiters can do. Most of his base was in ruins in a relatively short amount of time.
But Cyco wasn't going to go down so easily. His dark archon's stasis field wore out and he quickly mind controlled one of my arbiters. He took my captured arbiter and stasised about 12 of my arbiters. I quickly destroyed the dark archon and then blew away the mind controlled arbiter.

Resistance was futile, my arbiters were too powerful. Cyco broke the silence that had prevailed during the game to utter one word.

The game ended when I destroyed his last pylon.
The Scores:

As you can see, the arbiter, if used properly, is a force to be reckoned with. BGHers beware, the arbiter is coming for you!
Conclusion:
It is now time to end this 5 part series. I hope that you have enjoyed reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. The most amazing thing about the game of Starcraft is that no matter how long you've played the game, there is always something you can do to keep it fresh.
Thanks to everyone for their comments (Except for Sp|ne who messed up my comments section on the last report, haha). The comments from you guys are what makes the reports worth writing.
Happy Huntering,
