The.Unpauser

Noone in nohunters was up for a game, so I actually, horror of horrors, joined a pubbie entitled "1 on 1 lost temple." Waiting was xtd-random, who for some reason which I do not remember, did not do a /stats on. After booting an extra person, we wished eachother good luck and the game was off!

Both of us selected zerg at the last second and I landed 12:00 while xtd-random landed 6:00. Being new to Brood War, a vanilla veteran (6-6-0 on BW :P) I decided I would try to end the game quick since he would probably have an inherent advantage in the late game due to a better understanding of the units. Because of this I differed from my usual build order of 8 OL, 9 pool, 12 hatch and decided I would try for a:

7 pool, 9 hatch, 8 ol, 12 hatch, 13 etractor, 15 den build for early hydras. However, my pool had just finished when I had to pause the game because of a phone call, and said: "One sec please" and proceeded to pause. When I look back, my pool is finished, and my minerals are stacked up, as he had unpuased to gain an advantage while I was helpless. I immediately decide I need swift revenge on this "unpauser", and start to hatch 6 lings while sending a drone out to scout 9:00, my OL already having scouted 3:00. Finding both of these empty, I rally my lings to the 6:00 position, and send 2 drones on their way to his base. Yes, thats right, drones. Declaring that he will pay for his unpausing sins, my lings hatch and run down to find a hatchery building at his natural. I ignore it, run up the ramp to see another hatchery at the top of his ramp. He curses, begging for forgiveness saying he "accidentally" unpaused, but I ignore him and after my lings raze his pool, I proceed to deliver my tailor made humiliation tactic. I make a creep colony with one of my 2 drones right next to his hatchery and pull my lings back. I then morph it into a sunken and laugh as a single sunken colony begins to raze his base. All he can do is mutter "huk" over and over again, as I make another colony right next to his newly made natural expansion, and finally finish him off with a sunken at his ramp.

He tells me to meet in channel "B" where he asks for a same race and map rematch. I happily oblige and once I see him teching hard to mutas, I 3 hatch mass lings and overrun him, though I once again pull back all my lings and allow a drone to build a single sunken to finish him off with. He shoots off some garbage about how he didn’t mean to unpause, and I should have given an immediate reason for pausing, etc… All I do is laugh as the sunken finishes off the last of his hatcchery…
