Yes folks, this is going to be a text only report. =) I didn't think I was going to make it past the 5 minute mark, so I forgot to take pics. Shame on me. Onto the game!

Continuing my re-construction from the depths of 900's on Ladder...

Game Name : 1v1 995+
Map: None other than, Lost Temple
Players:
TheBestCow (me) : Chosen Yellow Terran, 12:00 (4-4 990 Ladder)
AoD and some other symbols : Chosen Zerg, 6:00 (2-0, 1035)

He chose zerg last second. I waited for the screen to clear, noticing my 4 little SCV's with yellow arm bands were basking in the heat of the day. I set them to work and started another SCV suit.

Awh man, 12:00. No second add-on for me. Drat. He's zerg. I know this. 3/3 M&M with Science Vessel/Tank support is my goal. I will not be denied.

I know he has a couple of choices. 4-pool, 6-pool, mass hydra, lurker, mutalisk transfer to guardians. Well, he has more than a couple of options. I suppose I should be ready.

I start with a depot on 8, near my minerals on the right side. I'm hoping for some half-way decent SCV protection.
Next on the menu is a rax on 11 and 1/2 right below the depot. I'm keeping my mineral line nice and saturated. I get another depot, rax, and engineering bay. I've got two marines roaming about (sitting on their asses) when a clumsy overlord comes over my souther cliff. I've got the 'rines hidden in my SCV line. Goodie. It's hunting season.

The two fellas run out and underneath the overlord, trying not to scare away their pray. They open fire. It tries to run. Stupid beast. It dies. Score one for the good guys.

Benny and Jenkins didn't even see the damn lings coming. Jenkins was down almost immediatly and Benny was headed back towards an SCV block. He never made it. I've got an academy barely up, and the lings are chewing on my rax. Good for them. At least it's not my hard working chumps on the mineral lines. I suit up 2 firebats, and order a bunker near my SCV line and rax, but leave enough room for a com-sat. If I ever make it to that point.

The two 'toasties' pop out and start making hell for those lings. But 2 bats isn't enough. I get two more suited up, then que 2 rines for my bunker. The lings won't stop coming.

"Stay calm. You have beaten the rush. You can win."Commander Heartcutter's words bounce around in my head, and I smile grimly as more lings charge up towards my academy. I take 2 'volunteer' SCV's and my 2 bats to deal with them. Somehow I got a medic out also.

MORE lings. More bats.

Bats > Lings

=]

I take the foresight to run an SCV out during an attack over to three o'clock. Using simple logic skills I deduce he either came from 9 or 6 to get to my base from such an angle, as ling rushers wouldn't take the time to move an OL down to make it look like he was at 6 instead of 3. I plan to expand. Naked, yes. Risky, you betcha.

But I need the income. I eventually set up another bunker by my geyser, he's not getting into my SCV line any time soon.

I'm back on track. I throw up some more depots, get some more 'rines and finally those beautiful medics.

I'm afraid I just had to promote Mia to personal doctor for the CC crew, I just couldn't let her out there. She also runs and keeps organized the med squads. And plus, she looks damn good in a tank top (CC's do get a bit warm).

My CC at 3 finishes, and I pump some SCVs from there, immediatly setting up a rax. I can't risk sending SCV's or troops to defend, as it could give away my position. I hope it works out.

I set up my scanner in my base and scan 6, the most likely spot from which he came from. Bingo, but I mis-placed my scan and can only see a geyser, some hydras and an ol or two.

Hydras.
I consult my handy-dandy Heartcutter book, and flip through the index.

Ah ha! Hydras - If you see hydra at your Zerg opponent's base, it will normally mean one of two things. Mass hydra assault (antidote stim, range, sieged tanks) or lurker (antidote tanks/irradiate).

I close the book. Looks like I am going to need tanks either way, so lets get that first.
I set up my factory, and continue pumping SCV's at my expansion. I've got a filled bunker that is blocked by depots and a missle turret, for extra defense, and the workers are busy. I even have a refinery up. I'm proud of myself, but don't let it last long.

There is a long lull in the action, which gives me time to get a tank on my ridge with siege, and about 9 'rines and 3 medics. My 'rines are 1/1.

He tries to run up with about 8 or so hydras.

Ka-bloom. The sound of arc-lite fire makes a smile come to my face as the front lines of the hydras are severely weakened.

"Ahh, that's the stuff."
My rines easily take out what's left of the hydras.
Life is looking good. I take Deon, who hasn't been doing any scouting all game, and set up to start a CC at my natural, and get more 'rines, meds and tanks. The train is rolling.

I also add a turret next to my main CC, and a tank. My base is now secure. I move the control group of marines and my 4 medics down below my ramp as construction continue on the CC. Still no action. I scan his natural.

No expand at natural? What the heck?

I work on 1/1 rine pumping. I add a starport to my main, and a factory to my 3 expand (which is now fully working). I decide to start some noise and take my control of 'rines, my medics, and two tanks down towards his natural. I've got Deon working on a science facility, as I need those better suits and rounds before I can whoop the zerg fool. And plus, Science Vessels are fun.

I maynard over some SCVs to my now-complete natural CC and pump some more out, setting up a bunker/turret/tank defense there also. I add a refinery their also.

Ah, back down to my group of troups down at his natural. I also sent an SCV along to set up a turret until Science Vessels are available from the main fleet. I decide to set up shop right at his mineral only, and siege my two tanks, move the infantry infont of them.

He was obviously just about to attack or expand with some protection, but about 12 hydras (in single line formation) begin to waltz towards my little outpost.

"Ahh thats the stuff" can be heard as my now 18 rines stim up. The tanks open up, and the 'rines move in. No casualties taken amazingly enough.

I que up two more tanks in each of my factories, and more marines. I begin researching irradiate and construct a science vessel.

He tries to bust my containment with some lings, hydras, and two lurkers. The lings and hydras take the blunt of my tank blows, and even though I stimmed my guys and tried to make them attack the lurkers, they still burrowed. The turret can only see one, and I'm already retreating my men. No need for stupid losses. The tanks take out the one by the turret, and I wait for them to cooldown before scanning. No more lurker problems. I send down my new troops to the outpost, along with two irradiate-capable SVs. Time to hand him his cards, even with just 2/1 rines.

Scanning his main, just to make sure of no surprises, I see a greater spire morphing. This makes me giggle as I start on cloak and order up another Science Vessel - just in case.

As I move another SCV down to the 3 natural to start another naked expand, I move 6 tanks, 20 'rines and 6 medics down towards his ramp. I send in one of my SVs. He sees about 6 hydras on the ramp, with 2 lurkers being morphed. I irradiate some of the hydras, knowing his lurkers will never get close enough to cause damage. They begin to chase the SV, so I just simply move him back toward smy tanks and men, no more hydras. =]
I love baiting. =]

I take the second SV in and irradiate one of the burrowed lurkers, and keep him there as the tanks unsiege, and move up a little further to inflict some pain.

He and I both know he won't reach guardians before I take out the greater spire, none the less the rest of his base, and he concedes with a "F*** YOU!". Ah, I love it when they say that.

End Results:
TheBestCow- Win, 5/4 - Rating 1018

Lessons Learned:
Be ready for the ling rush. Its coming.
Tank/turret/bunker - secure main.
3/3 'rines with tank and science vessel support own all zerg. =)

I know this may seem like a hum-drum report to you, but the first few minutes (especially) were very intentse for more, and I love to share with other Terran players how I beat certain strats.

Flames and comments are welcome.
