Random_Stranger vs Unknown
Random_Stranger <-vs-> Unknown

Here goes my first report: bear with me and show some mercy in the replies.

After hanging out in Clan Recruitment for some time, I saw an interesting clan with a private server and a webpage. So far, so good. I went to the channel and found it occupied by one other person, obviously a member of the clan.

TheOtherGuy - "You interested in joining?"
Random_Stranger - "Sure. I checked out your homepage and it looks pretty cool."
TheOtherGuy - "Ok. You're in..."

Oooook. Here I began to wonder if this was really the clan for me. No test, no sign of life in the channel, and I was bored.

Random_Stranger - "Umm...How about a test?"
TheOtherGuy - "You don't have to take one. All you have to do is put (whatever) in front of your name.
Random_Stranger - Actually, I want to test YOU. How about a 1v1?"

This was followed by an eerie moment of silence in the chatroom. Chickenshit. I was proven wrong when he accepted my challenge.

The Map:
SHOWDOWN

Fittingly enough, this fight took place on the familiar battleground of ShowDown. "It's High Noon..."

Random_Stranger chose random and got purple Zerg at the south. Unknown chose Zerg and got green or something, starting in the north.

I knew from the beginning what my strat was going to be against zerg, so my battle plan was in action before my scouting OL got anywhere near his base. I sent one of my first Drones up toward his base, concentrating the rest on resources and the construcion of more Drones. My drone stopped at the choke a bit outside of his base and, through perfect timing on my part, had just enough to morph into a hatchery. My scouting OL just got there and I held him back to provide detection for the future.

(Before when I tried this strat a single DT tore by base down before I could get an OL there)

I sent several drones up there and as soon as the hatchery was done I morphed them into the deadly sunken colonies. He had been going for early lings, but was also the slowest rusher I had ever seen. He sent 12 lings to there death just as 3 sunkens popped up. Confident I had this battle leaning my way, I expanded several times to the midddle resource nodes and focused on reiforcing my blockade. He soon brought down several lurkers in the hope that I had not yet gotten detection there, but my OL was perfectly positioned and they were forced to retreat. Knowing that he had leapt up the tech tree, I threw up some spore colonies to guard against mutalisks and refocused my efforts to catch up to him.

I still had no Hydras, but with level two upgrades I knew they could help my cause quite a bit. Gathering about a dozen at my blockade, I chased away his few that had been guarding my base for any signs of action and pushed forward into his base. Several well placed Lurkers, about 6-12 hydras and at least 2 dozen adrenalings slaughtered me. I didn't walk away from the battle empty handed though, for I got a glimpse of a hive in formation.

A wing of mutalisks began pounding away at my drones in my base, the first sign of action from my opponent. I had spore colonies already in place, but the minerals were too far away to be of much use. I slowly crept my way towards my attackers with spore colonies, eventually driving them away and returning to my harvesting. Apparently, my opponent was unaware of my other bases and thought the key to victory was to hurt me financially.

All was quiet for a moment as I scouted his island, finding a hatchery under going its mutation there. I prepared several OL's full of hydras to attack just as 6 guardians began pounding my main again. He used the cliffs by my minerals to keep them protected, guarding effectively against any assualt from the ground I could muster. I backed ot my hydras, loaded them into dropships, and landed them directly under the Guardians on the cliff. They exploded quite nicely into little balls of blood. My main was once again safe, his strategy known to me and his expansion no longer a secret.

I loaded up 4 OL's with hydras, fully upgraded, and dropped his main just behind the minerals. The little ground defense he did have was quickly displaced and I pushed on into the base. Two very well placed Lurkers ended my rampage, but not until I had done considerable damage to his operations there. I knew he had the island, but I also was quite sure he had the sense to defend it properly. My strat of mass hydras in OL's was working quite nicely, so I decided to continue.

Once again, I prepared to attack his island while simutaniously expanding to my own. Just as I landed my Hydras at his island, at least 12 guardians began attacking my blockade. Seeing the futility of any further action against me, he conceded with no harvesting bases and no resources to get any.
