The Announcement!!
Ok, I'm too lazy to create an elaborate battle report and stuff, but this is the best game I've probably ever played so I decided to post it.
NOTE: None of my pictures are relevant to the game, but they're funny so I put them on anyway ^_^.
The Arena
Shall We Joust?
Ok, so it start off in x17, where some Korean comes in with the big sun by his name, ranked like #132 or something. I asked him for a game, but he doesn't respond. So then I start talking smack to him, and making fun of him. So he finally responds and says he can beat me down and other creative stuff like that. So I create game on Lost Temples. He asks me, "WHAT RACE YOU?"
I respond, "Random."
He says, "NO RANDOM, I PRO."
I respond, "If you don't want to play me random, don't play me at all you whore. You know that you'll just lose."
And then he says, "OK, YOU RANDOM THEN, I ZERG."
So I start the game, with him being zerg. But then he change to protoss at the last second. How clever ^_^.
And They're Off!
Alright, so we begin. I spawn at 9:00 as zerg. I send my overlord to 6:00 to scout, and do my standard zerg anti-protoss build (for when I go random and spawn zerg). He's not at 6:00 so I feel confident to expand straight to my natural with a 12 hatch. I build my pool at 13. I build another hatchery at 15. Just as I do, he finds me with a probe. It took him pretty long to find me, so I'm guessin 12:00, but I'm not sure yet. So I save larvae to build lings from 14 supply. I build 3 pairs of lings and an overlord, and I send like 5 drones down to mine at my expand. I scout 12:00 and find a zealot blocking the ramp, but a ling runs through and finds all his zealots far behind his ramp so I wouldn't be able to find it with my lings, although his plan didn't work. Pretty smart player I think. He had 4 zealots total, and had an assimilator building. Quick teching I guessed. I ran around my ling with shift-clicking. I filled up the waypoint, and he chased around my ling. At this point, he says, "NO MANNER." Of course i'm cracking up. But I find he's building no more zealots, and he's gettin a forge started up. Quick upgrading I guess. I fill up the way point once more. I had a sunken and 12 lings back at home. Feeling no need to build more lings at this point, I pumped the drones. At 22, I build another hatchery, and then got an extractor. I built drones for like a minute. Surprisingly, my scouting ling at his base was still alive, and he had 2 more zealots in 2 minutes. Interesting I though, so I scouted his expansion spot with another ling. Surely enough, there was an expansion building. It was half done. This is going to be funny I thought. I would normally upgrade ling speed, and start running zerglings to both bsaes to kill the nexuses. It usually ends up with one getting screwed. However, I saw a pylon and 2 bulbs of blue light. Cannons I assumed. No problem. I got a hydra den up, and another extractor. Also, I built drones for another 30 seconds, and sent a drone to the 6:00 plateau for future expanding purposes. I scouted him once more to find 2 cannons, and all his forces hiding like at the ramp or behind the cannons.
And he makes his move...
I had to attack blindfolded. Oh well I thought. I set my rally points for his cannons, and sent in my 12 lings and 18 hydras. I mauled the cannons before the zealots hiding behind it could even react. He had speed upgrades for his zealots, and some goons. However, it was not enough to stop my hydras. He reacted wisely, pulling them up his ramp. Too bad, he's gonna lose his expansion I thought. I quickly morfed my drone at 6:00 into a hatch, and went to his expand. However, I quickly found a dt slashing away at my hydras. 3 or 4 dts in fact. My hydras were dying to quickly, and would not even be able to scathe the nexus. I retreated back to my base, and set the rally in front of my 2nd natural, where I commenced to build an expansion hatchery. I also sent 6 hydras and an overlord to 6:00. I set up double evolution chambers. I kept pumping the hydras. I then realized that my ling that I had left in front of the natural of 6:00 was gone. They're coming...I had a sunken, 6 hydras, and an overlord set up. I was confident of my defenses, and immediately sent a control group more of hydras to the base just in case. I got ready to counterattack just in case he had sent to much. However, it was an army of 3 dts that had come. No problem. He lured my hydras out of overlord detection range, and as I was turning them back into overlord detection range, "YOUR UNIT ARE UNDER ATTACK," or some lame comment like that. I pressed space, and found about 18 hydras, or their lesser parts, on the ground. He had probably had zeal/templar stormed them. That bastard. I sent a ling to look if he had an attack coming right after that, but it revealed nothing other than 2 attack upgrades for his zealots back at his main base. Then, i noticed my hydras at 6:00 were dead because he had once again lured them out of detection range. This mofo was really ticking me off. I also noticed my ling at 2:00 gone, an expand I was guessing. I started a spire, and my evolutions for hydras were half done. I built another sunken at my expansion, and sent a control group of hydras to protect it. I produced mad drones for 30 seconds. Then I began muta production shortly thereafter.
The Midgame...And then his enemy tries to respond...
I sent another ling, but found his units, like zealots and goons and templar en route to my base. I scouted out with another ling, and found he had stopped in the map center. I hotkeyed my then 30+ hydras, and sent them to his base immediately, going around the map center. All the while, I sent my not 8 mutas to the map center to assassinate the templar. He had 2 attack upgrades and an armor upgrade, and about 5 dragoons. I managed to kill all but 1 templar, but he psi stormed his own zealots by accident I suppose. Just as my last muta died, I reached his base with my hydras. I started gettin a queen's nest back at home, and built more mutas. I saw a buncha goons flash by on the screen above my hydras, but I didn't take any notice. Just as I got in front of his ramp, he engaged me with his dragoons, and templar. I moved back my hydras to lure them down the ramp. And they did come down the ramp. He's stupid I thought. But then, like 18+ zealots came and flanked my attack. I tried darting in and out of his storms, but I went into the dragoon plasma fire, or the psi blades either way, so they were basically screwed. I managed to take down a lot of his forces, but I assumed he already had his expansion, and gateways running. However, I wasn't begin idle during this time. I had a good amount of mutas, lings, and some hydras. I sent my mutas to scout 2:00, and kill any probes at the expansion. I got there to find 3 gateways, and lots of probes...MMM, probe soup. Also, I got lurker aspect, and started researching ventral sacs on top of my overlord speed. I also got ensnare. and expanded to the natural of 6:00. He shortly scouted after with a zealot. Hmmm. I sent 24 hydras of my 60+ to the expand. He scouted it again with a zealot. If he was going ot attack, he'd have to set just the right amount of troops, or he'd lose, and I'd also be able to counterattack him with ease. I also made a hatchery at the ramp, and also made like 4 sunkens there.
The Chaos of Good Games: Time to Open a Can of Whoop-@$$
As I anticipated, he came in with his stuff. He came in with like 24 dragoons, 24 zealots, and lots of temps. Hmmm...can you say retarded? I attacked his expansion. He had taken the natural at 2:00. My 40 hydras easily overwhelmed it. I had 24 hydras back at home already, because I had like 7 hatcheries in my main :). I loaded them up in my overlords and got ready to drop on his main base. At my attack on my expand, he managed to kill the natural, but quickly turned back to save his expand. But I loaded all my 40 hydras up in the 12 overlords I brought along, and escaped before he got there :) I found an island expand at 11:00, and dropped my 12 hydras on it. Also, I started a greater spire. I send the 12 mutas I had had all game to harass his main base. Also, I dropped my 40 hydras on his expansion. However, he met my hydras with several psi storms :( However, it was funny cus he killed all his own probes. Also, my mutas had found the 2nd natural right underneath 12:00 to be saturated with probes. I owned the probes and the nexus. I expanded once again to the 6:00 natural. I had found that my 40+ hydras had died in seconds because he stormed my overlords, and killed half of them before they could even drop their cargo :( However, I managed in killing just about ALL his probes. Also, I anticipated an expand at the bottom right island. Then, he stormed into my base with all his forces, 30+ mixed infantry and like 10 templar. Wow insane :( I morfed my 10 hydras into lurkers, and brought my mutas over the ridge and morfed them into guardians. I also pumped hydras from my 5 hatcheries at the lower portion of the map to get ready to counterattack. I burrowed my lurkers all over the place. I burrowed like 8 on top of the ridge next to each other, because he woulnd't be able to storm them without the sight. Also, my guardians finished. I sent them in 2 at a time over the ridge to throw his dragoons into disarray. Also, I decided to start building lings rather than hydras at my hatcheries on the bottom. However, he apparently had an observer. So much for using the ridge. 8 lurkers gone with 3 storms :(. Oh well. My guardians still did their job, although he had killed my 2nd natural. I sent a ling to 2:00, and found another expand building there. I sent 12 lings there, 12 lings to his 2nd natural below 12:00, and like my 12 lings, and about 18 hydras to his main base. Back at home, I had lost all my defenses for turning my head away from my guardians for 2 seconds. Stupid guards I thought. However, before he could kill my natural expansion hatchery, he turned back to defend against the counterattack. I loaded up two lurkers in an overlord and sent it to the bottom right island. However, I found nothing at the island. I had killed his expand at 2:00 with ease, as with his 2nd natural. I found my 12 hydras still at the top left island, so I loaded them up in overlords and dropped em at the 12:00 main. He came just in time to stop my attack on his main. However, I had destroyed his forges upgrading with my hydra drop on his main before he could stop me. He was stuck with 3-1-2 troops. I had 3-3 everything. I started building ultralisk/zergling, knowing that it's hard for a toss to stop the pressure once they have no cash, especially when the mainstay of their defense is now templar. He attacked my main base AGAIN. This time he destroyed the 2nd natural, and marched into my main base. I built another of every structure at my bottom base, and expanded to the bottom right island.
THE HEAT: THE FINAL BATTLE
I was gathering my troops in the center, ultralisks, lings, hydras, and some mutas. I had about 8 ultras, 20+ hydras, and at least 50 lings. He passed through the center with a zealot to find my stuff there. I better get ready I thought. I put a control group of hydras behind one of those walls in the center. This, it turned out, would win me the battle, although I prolly still woulda won had I lost the battle. He came in from both sides, north and west with archons, goons, templars, and some reavers. It was an insane battle, blood and plasma flying everywhere. However, I brought in the hydras, or "templar assassins" from behind. He got off two storms before his 3 templars died. Then, the rest of my troops beat him with hydra reinfocements from my 6:00 base, which was now my main. I sent them quickly to the 12:00 base anxious to kill him. I sent an overlord to the top left island. There was no expansion, thank god.
The Annoyance: searching for the lost pylons...or in this case, the lost base ^^
I quickly overran his base because he had nothing there. However, the "the retarded Korean player has been eliminated" message did not show up. DAMMIT I said out loud. However, I sent an overlord to 2:00 and discovered a nexus up and running, fully operational. I would have dropped on his base, but being impatient, I rammed my troops up the ramp. Unfortunately, he had like 2 dts, and like 20 friggin templar there. Dammit, the Korean that won't die. I built like all mutas from here on out, planning to go on a templar assassination spree. But as my mutas came in, he morfed his 20+ templar all into archons. I couldn't even come close to killing them before my mutas died. I changed them all into guardians, and started building more hydras. I attacked with the guardians, but he had more templars. I killed most of his archons by spreading apart my guards. Then, I stormed his ramp with wave after wave of ultra/hydra/ling. I finally came out on top. The game was an hour and 10 minutes. Pretty long for a pvz game. With scores in excess of 400000, it was a fun game. Anyway, go to my strategy page for my toss strategies. Otherwise, I hoped u enjoyed my long, drawn-out, battle report. It's my first ever :)
