| Another great battle between me and thegreat98 part 2 (again long) | | | Author: | | | IP: | XXXX | | Date: | 05/25/99 06:05 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | Starcraft(1), Text Only(1) | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 2, Max: 6, Min: 5 Lifetime Rating for Fweddo: 5.5455 | | Map: Fading Realm
Fweddo (Me): Zerg (Random)
Thegreat98: Toss (Random)
I did my standard 8 pool, drone, lord, drone build and eventually got to scout him with my lord. Once again, he 4-5 zeal rushed me. I held it off with 1 sunken and a few hydras and lings. I was teching to lurkers quickly, trying to hide my lair from him. I got out 5 lurkers and sent them to his base. Big mistake. He was prepared with cannons at his choke as well as templar. Ii lost 3 lurkers, but tried to contain him. He psi'd the lurker tho, so this was unsuccessful. I exped to the top right, and a little while later he exp'd to the middle left. I got 12 hydras and 2 lurkers in 4 lords and dropped them. He held this off well with psi, even tho I got his nexus down to 228 life w/ my last lurker. Something that ticked me off bad was that I anticipated a psi on my lurker, and as the temp stopped to psi, I told my lurker to unburrow, and started to run it out of the psi. It had 14 life at the edge of the storm, then died. I ANTICIPATED the psi storm and still couldn't get my lurker out, showing that it is very, very hard to get a lurker out of a psi storm. Anywayz, he attacked my exp w/ a dtemp followed by several zeals. My lord at my exp just hatched and killed the dtemp, but his zeals took out my 3 sunkens and several drones before lings could arrive and save the day. Once again I prepared a hydra drop, this time 20 hydras. Once again he fended it off quite well with psi storm. Then I exped again (so did he) and massed a HUGE force of 38-60 hydras, 3 queens, 12 ultras, and 24 lings. He saw this force in the middle and said "My god." I sent them in against his temps and reavers and cannons, my forces splitting into his middle left exp and the choke to his main. One thing that ticked the hell out of me was that he unloaded a temp at his exp and I was trying to broodling it, but I kept clicking on the shuttle. He got off a psi and this killed a lot of hydras. His exp was demolished, but he held me off at the choke. I was amazed by this.
By this time I clearly thought he had the advantage and I began producing some mutas, running some raids on his unguarded reavers and zeals. He got cannons there though, so I had to stop doing that. Seeing that I was nearly out of resources at both my expansions, I decided to take the HUGE risk of exping to the middle with 12 lings and 12 hydras as defense. I pulled it off, even tho he tried attacking it with reavers and zeals, with templar backup. Somehow, I held this off with lings and ensnare. He almost got the exp, but I held off all attacks against this. I was under the impression that he had a exp running full speed due to what he said in a phone conversation, and he belivied this, but it wasn't true. He built a pylon at the old middle left exp and started mining there. I had a scourge there tho, and found out about it. I sent all my forces in, and stopped it. To my EXTREME surprise, he conceded. He did not have his exp running as well as he thought he did. He decided to stick it out some more, and I attacked him with some newly formed guards with queens broodlinging the temps. He then left, giving me a GG. I was very surprised at this because I totally thought he had won that game.
Lessons:
1. Out exp u'r opponent. I kno I've said this before, and I'm saying it here again. That completely and totally won me the game.
2. Broodling counters temps very well.
3. Temps in shuttles cant be broodlinged and a temp under a shuttle is almost impossible to broodling =(
4. Temps and reavers own zerg.
5. Lurkers can almost never get out of a psi storm.
6. Mutas are great for hit and run.
Well, that's the end of my reports against thegreat98 for now, if I wrote about our 3rd game he'd kill me =) |
