The Setting
The battlefield has been chosen. The underplayed map that is not Lost Temple. It is Dark Temple!! So it's the same map...who cares? At least now I don't have to add a map picture, right?
I asked the players if it would be alright to let me observe since the map was observer friendly. They obliged and for their kindness I reward them with a battlereport... I don't know if you can say that being in one of my battlereports would be a reward, but I don't think that they cared.
Newbie McNasty, who will now be referred to as Newbie, got the 6:00 position and the now popular Terran race.
Ol'Bloodin.guts, who will now be referred to as Guts, got the 9:00 position and the now overplayed (j/k) race Terran.
The Beginnings
Each of the players set off on their quest to destroy the other in similar fashion. They both started with depots near the mineral line. Newbie assigned the scv that made the depot scout duty and it started it's journey counter-clockwise. Newbie proceeded to make a Refinery then a Barracks shortly after.
Guts differed barely from Newbie by getting a Barracks shortly before getting a Refinery. Guts randomly chose one of his scvs and had it scout counter-clockwise. Although Guts sent out his scout out after Newbie they both arrived in the enemy base at around the same time due to the fact that Newbie's scv found Guts' base in the last spot it looked.
Both players looked to be going quick wraiths due to their build orders. Newbie made a depot, factory, followed by a Starport. Guts made a depot, bunker at ramp, a factory, engineering bay, and then two Starports. I believe Guts made a mistake here with building his Starports right next to each other which did not allow space for an add-on for one of his Starports.
First Blood
Newbie is ready to flex his muscle. He loads up 1 tank, 3 marines, and an scv into a dropship and heads off to the bottom of Guts' base. The dropship was never able to deliver it's cargo and is blown out of the sky by a turret and some wraiths.
Guts, now high off the mini-victory, goes tripping off into Newbie's base with 3 wraiths now equipped with cloaking. The wraiths are headed toward the scv line, but are quickly scared off by a turret ingeniously placed by the command center. Guts decides that it he would be just as happy pounding on the supply depot that is out of range of the turret. But I don't think Newbie would take kindly to this abuse that the depot is taking and sends his wraiths in to take care of the supply abusers. Newbie, being the genious that he is, uses his comsat and takes the offending wraiths to school. Guts runs away his wraiths, but ends up losing 2. The depot ends up living for awhile longer, until it explodes after the neglect of Newbie to even attempt to repair it.
Expansion Time with Terran, can anyone say cliff-sieges?
Guts decides to expand to his natural first, but does it without any protection, other than the bunker at the ramp. Newbie decides to try expanding too, but makes a turret before starting a command center. He also makes an e-bay to look over the cliffs to scout for incoming traffic. Guts notices this effort to expand on Newbie's part and sends two dropships filled with 2 tanks, scvs, and marines to the cliff overseeing Newbie's and attempts to cliff-seige Newbie's umm...cliff. Guts made a horrendous mistake by dropping tanks first, which fired, and give away Guts' position. Newbie sends over his wraiths which are able to easily take out Guts' pathetic attempt to cliff-seige. Guts sends his wraiths over but are too late and the only damage they do is to take the e-bay's health, that was floating, down considerably. Newbie decides to launch another offensive against his foe and sends an scv to Guts choke to begin preperations for the tank push. The scv immediately begins construction of a missle turret out of Guts vision and stays there for further instructions. As Newbie's scv waited there, Guts' dropship was heading home after being a part of the failing cliff-siege. The dropship's pilot must have been hanging her head in shame because it went directly through Newbie's now offensive turret. Guts' dropship's health was brought down considerably but was quickly repaired by Guts' scvs.
 Building UP
During these mini-melees Guts decides it is time to increase his production buildings. He now has 4 Starports (only one with add-on, though), 2 Factories, and 3 Barracks. Guts also has constructed a Science Facility.
Newbie, on the other hand, has 3 Starports with add-ons, 2 Factories, and 1 Barracks. He adds another Starport soon.
At around the same time, both players decide to expand to the north. Newbie expands to the 12 Natural, adding turrets around the expansion. Guts decides to go for the 12 Main. Both players are oblivious that they are creating bases right next to each other for the time being.
Newbie gets Nasty
Newbie gets restless inside his base and decides to send 3 shuttles full of tanks to the cliff overseeing Guts' natural. Newbie also sends out his wraiths and valks that were standing duty at the 12 natural to provide air support to the tanks...oh, but what is this. Newbie sent his air force near the 12 main and sees Guts' budding expansion attempt their. Newbie lets his wraiths waste the expansion their until Guts sends his wraiths over to protect the expansion. A battle erupts with Newbie winning with the added help of the frigates known as valkyries.
 Remember those tanks? Well, they absolutely wasted Guts' natural. There was NO defense at all on top of the cliff or any that were able to provide much service below the cliff. Guts was able to eliminate the threat with hit and run wraith attacks...but lost a lot of wraiths to Newbie's which were positioned behind the tanks.
Ol'Bloodin.guts is now also bruised and swollen
This looks to be the beginning of the end for Guts. Newbie brings down a number of his tanks to Guts' natural, siege, and tear up the defenses there.
Newbie destroyed Guts' natural, and Guts conceded the game.
