GiZmOkId

Ve||()cet

Toss

VS

Toss

(The MYSTERY remains..)

============================

Pre-GAME:

I was looking for a game to watch in NH, so,
I join a 1v1 game created by Ve||()cet, but it
so happens that his challenger failed to show up, so he asks
GiZmOkid
to play.....

As a rule, when playing 1on1's GiZmOkid
picks Toss and in teams games he pick Zerg, so he chose his
race (Toss) and Ve||()cet goes random.

The battlefield has been chosen as the Lost-Temple
(duh...)

======================================================================================

The Game:

GiZmOkId
starts out at the 12:00 position, while Ve||()cet
finds himself at the 6:00 position.

Now, the thing that confuses most in a Toss VS
Toss game is what kind of Build Order does one have to use in the Early game....

GiZmOkid
decides to go with quick Dark Templars (NOT rush),
the build order looked something like this:

8 Pylon, 9 Assimilator, 11 Gateway,
15 Pylon

GiZmOkId
sends his probe to scout after warping the pylon
and reveals his opponents build, which looked like a conventional Toss build
of 2 Gateways.

On the other hand, Ve||()cet's
scouting probe could not make it past the 2
Zealots
defending GiZmOkId's ramp.

First Contact:

Ve||()cet's
takes the initiative to attack first, and he has a a sizeable army to do so,
consisting of 8 Dragoons, 3 Zealots....this force
was up against: 5 Dragoons, 4 Zealots.....and 2 Dark
Templars
. Ve||()cet's annihilates the
defending force except for the Dark Templars
which force him to retreat and thus save the day for GiZmOkId....

Also, GiZmOkId,
taking advantage of the fact that he had a Templar Archives,
decides to build a Forge and get rapid Weapon
upgrades.

Mid-Game:

After this initial phase it is over, both players
decide to take their natural expansions, but Ve||()cet
is faster as he gets his expansion working in full flow while GiZmOkId's
Nexus
is still only 50% complete.

Both players, realizing the advantage of extra
influx of resources, warp more structures… GiZmOkId
warps a Robotics Facility, Observatory,
and a Fourth Gateway.Ve||()cet
warps in another Robotics facility an Observatory
and his Third Gateway.

From what it seems, GiZmOkId
has decided to stick with "Gateway units", while only building the
Robotics facility for making the "faithful"
Observers
. While Ve||()cet is taking the
"Goons/Reaver combo" route…with an ODD shuttle/observer
here n' there.

There is a period of silence, GiZmOkId
has around 6 Observers, but makes a REALLY dumb
move…he groups all his Observers and sends them
right into Ve||()cet's base, the Observers
fall rapidly before the Dragoons. GiZmOkId
makes more Observers, but this time he uses them
carefully,and sends them to scout the different resource spots on the map.

One of the Observer,
relays an important bit of information…Ve||()cet
has strarted an expansion at the Lower Right Island Resource node, but is
still warping pylons and hasnt yet warped a Nexus…
At this time, Ve||()cet also realizes his need
to scout his opponent, and sends in some Observers
of his own. All this while, both players have been producing troops at a steady
rate:

GiZmOkId: 12 Dragoons
(Singularity Charged), 10 Zealots (Speed Upgraded), 6 Dark Templars 5 Observers.
All the Ground units are 2/0/0

Ve||()cet: (approx) 15
Dragoons, 4 Reavers, 3-4 Zealots, a couple of Observers...

Upon realizing the advantage of an island expansion,
GiZmOkId prepares for the worst…if his opponent
is able to get that expansion running, its just a matter of time before GiZmOkId
loses… Thus GiZmOkId decides to attack…

Preaprations for WAR!

GiZmOkId
now gathers his troops a little away from Ve||()cet's
natural
...he sends in an Observor and
stations it just outside Ve||()cet's natural,
where Ve||()cet has gathered his troops...

As soon as GiZmOkId
decides to attack, he gets a Warning message "Your base is under
attack", upon further inspection, he notices that he has been Turbo-Newbied!,
3 canons are shooting his Assimilator
and his Nexus..., but the canons
cannot hit the probes...

Strangely, GiZmOkId
makes no attempt to save his Natural expansion,
instead he further fortifies his position outside Ve||()cet's
base
...

If u notice, both players have
a decent army, but Ve||()cet is in a much more
commanding position, since he has destroyed GiZmOkId's
natural
, and also has a fair amount of Reavers...about
4-5..

When Ve||()cet's
canons
destroy GiZmOkId's Nexus, he feels
that the time would be perfect to continue the pressure and he too decides
to attack, not knowing whats awaiting him at his Front door....

At this point, one shall realise
how important scouting and reconnaissance is in Starcraft.

ATTACK! ...FOR Aiur...FOR The Temple!

When Ve||()cet commences
his attack, he is greeted by open arms by GiZmOkId's
army
who were waiting impatiently for revenge.

Under normal circumstances, Ve||()cet
should have prevailed but he does not, because:

1) He didnt have an Observer
handy, therefore the Cloaked Assasins were ordered
to destroy the Reavers first.

2) GiZmOkId's army was
3-0-0 compared to Ve||()cet's who was 0-1-0...

3) Had Ve||()cet
scouted before he commenced his attack, he would realise that GiZmOkId's
army
is awaiting him...but Ve||()cet was
a bit hasty to get this attack going and forgot to scout....

4) Due to lack of scouting, Ve||()cet
sent his troops in a "single line formation", this MADE the task
VERY easy for GiZmOkId's Dragoons...

But, Ve||()cet was
fast to react and pulls his remaining troops back, hoping to get cover from
his defending canons...

GiZmOkId
continues his frontal assault on Ve||()cet, and
kills his remaining troops and his natural expansion,
while bearing heavy loses...

Ve||()cet
still has a Reaver some Dragoons
guarding his ramp...GiZmOkId uses his
surviving forces and pushes himself up the ramp and is succesfull...he goes
forward and destroys some of Ve||()cet's buildings,
but this time GiZmOkId is caught on the wrong
foot without an Observer and his surviving army
of 4 Dragoons falls to the Sharp blades of the
Dark Templar!...YES, Ve||()cet
now has his own templars!

GiZmOkId's
main has been depleted, and his probes are collecting, resources from the
natural and bringing it to the Main Nexus, thus there is a LOT of delay in
incoming resources, while Ve||()cet has his island
expansion running...

Now the tides have turned, its a do-or-die situation
for GiZmOkId, since an Observer
reveals that Ve||()cet is rapidly reconstructing
his main base...

During the previous battle, GiZmOkId
had queued some Dragoons, which numbered 10...this
was his last stand, he was virtually out of resources...

Final Strike

He takes his Dragoons,
right into the heart of Ve||()cet's Main base,
both armies again exchange their hatred.

Ve||()cet has
2 Reavers and 4 Dark Templars,
but with the aid of the Observer, the 3-0-0 Dragoons
are able to take out the opposing forces....like all noble Protoss warriors
do: "GG"s are exchanged and this Topsy Turvy battle ends in peace...

But the Mystery remains...Toss VS Toss...whats
the perfect early build order?..
