I am sorry, i do not have any pics, prolly because i never expected that i would end up writing a br.
Its 5 in the morning, and I logged on bnet using TopazChat. I notice this guy called ZergSlayer911 has been asking people for a game since some time, being the humble soul i am, I start brood war and we agree on a 1v1 on Proving Grounds.
I start out as Zerg, in the Lower Right corner, while he starts out as Protoss in the Upper Right corner.
I send my OL for scouting, and decide to go for a "fast expansion before spawning pool" strat. I expand to the expansion spot between our bases, which has 3 crystals and a gayser.
I find out that a he using a conventional protoss BO, 2 gway 2 pylon build up, and then he builds a CybernecticCore.
As soon as he gets his first goon out, he kills my OL which had been scouting his base since the beginning.
Thats mistake NO.2 (mistake no1, is...i'll tell later.)
At ths time, both my basis are fully functional and i have about 20 glings, i decide its time to attack.
MY attack failed horribly due to zealots backed by goon support.
I wanted to scout, but the ramp leading in to the base was well defended, besides, he had a few canons too. But, i really needed to scout him, so i pick 5 glings choose to scout by using the "backdoor" to the Protoss base. But, while the glings were moving i notice a white spot on my minimap on the Upper Left corner of the map, he had expanded. And at that VERY same moment, I attacked the Protoss ramp with a considerable force of hydras (mistake and glings (mistake NO.3), both sides experianced equal losses. Since his expansion was undefended, i use the 5 glings which were supposed to scout to kll his expansion. He makes no attempt to save it.
Due to the second major attack, i was able to scout his base, he had a Factory and an Observatory, and a Templar archives. But, he didnt make much use of those builings, all he built was a couple of observers.
Since, he was already under pressure to expand, and my attacks had done significant damage, i decided to keep up the pressure and continued sending in glings hydras (mistake NO.4), during these heated moments, he again tried to expand at the same place where he had tried to expand, unfortunately for him, those glings which had destroyed his first expansion were still there...and as soon as he warped in another nexus, the glings hammered it down.
All this time i have continously been sending small amounts of random troops, but they were not able to do much damage at all, since each each wave just reduced the shield points of the Protoss units, but failed to cause any casualties.
I then lurker dropped him at his expansion, but he was already out of minerals, and all my lurkers did was attack his buildings.
Now, 911 was completely out of resources, and he decided that its time to attack, AND BOY, was that a good decision :)
He attacked me, and he attacked me BIG TIME!
10 goons 15 zeals was his attack force, he first took out my expansion, which had 3 sunkens for defense, but they provided little resistance.
Then horror struck me, my main was out of resources, and all i had was 4 sunkens and bout 10 hydras, and erected another 3 creep colonies, but noticed i had run out of minerals to convert them into sunkens =(
All this time, my lurkers were attacking his base(mistake NO.5), while he was on the way to my base.
Now, it was just a question of who could destroy each other building first.
My lurkers destroyed the the Observatory, Factory, Acrhives, Citadel and a few random pylons. But he had a number of pylons random placed around his base, he also had the nexus remaining.
The feared moment came, his troops entered my defenseless base and soon White Spots covered my Red Base on the minimap, we exchanged a few laughs and "GGs".
He was able to finish my building first :-/
This game was one of those "silly" games, which are so "funny" but have a lasting effect...GG
Mistake NO1: This was my biggest mistake in the game, i shouldnt havequick expanded at that spot, i should have expanded either on the high ground natural or on another starting location. Since, the expansion i chose was directly in middle of our bases, and obviously, if he were to attack me, he ould have to pass thru my expansion first.
That shouldnt always be the case...
