Lifetime Rating for [LoC]Sting: 4.2500 |      | Ahhh this was a rousing battle between Lugashaldim and Master Of Morder. The map was Heartland. Lug chose terran and spawned in the top right hand corner while Mom chose random, drew terran and spawned in the bottom left hand corner.
Lug was orange, and began by building a depot followed by 2 rax’s. He then build another rax and bunkered up at the edge of his first 2 rax’s. After he filled up the bunker, he sent a marine to scout the territory ahead.
Meanwhile at the Brown base their commander, Mom, opened up with a depot, rax, then went right for gas. Then he build another depot and a factory. Mom also scouted with an scv right away. After Mom scouted Lug, he sent 2 marines to scout the territory.
At this point Mom had 2 factories, one with the machine shop add-on, and still only had 1 rax. Orange had 3 rax and an academy to his name. The first major battle was initiated by Mom. He set up 4 vultures outside of Lug’s base. He ordered 3 of them to hold up and send the 4th one to lure some marines to their death. Grrr I didn’t get a good picture of the battle, but my notes say about 6 marines died. The marines retreated and then Mom send the vultures around to Lug’s mineral lines, wreaking some havoc on the old economy. Who ever said economic sanctions don’t work. Lug’s marines, now joined by a medic or 2 responded before too much damage was done. Lug lost 3 or 4 scv’s and some of his marines before killing off the vultures.
Staying on the offensive, Mom brought in a tank, 3 vultures and a few marines outside of Lug’s base. He bunkered up and sieged the tank. Right after that he brought another tank and 3 more vultures up to that spot. As soon as Lug noticed the tank push he rushed it, a bad move as he lost all his marines. It was at this point that Lug finally built a factory to stop the advancing tank push as Mom slowly advanced his tanks under bunker and vulture cover far enough to hit Lug’s rax, which he wisely floated away. Mom also took the initiative to expand at this point to the lower left corner. Mom’s tank push continued forward to damage Lug’s second rax and his bunker. By this time Lug had a few tanks of his own which he sieged to halt Mom’s push.
In a very nice move, Mom brought some cloaked wraiths to the action and began to pick away at the tanks. Lug had no bay and therefore no turrent’s. Lug snuck an scv away and began to expand to the top left corner. An interesting note is that both players missed their "Gimmie" expansions. Mom found Lug’s expansion attempt right away and Lug chose to cancel rather than fight for it, which I think was wise since he didn’t have the troops to fight for it with. Mom expanded again to the spot he where Lug tried to take. Very shortly after that, Lug finally found his gimmie expansion and expanded there.
Mom has 2 starports and a sci lab with a physics add-on. Looks like battlecruisers to finish Lug off. Mom got about 6 cruisers, yamoto cannoned all of the turrent’s Lug had build and routed both bases. Lug did offer some resistance in the form or a few cloaked wraiths and one last ditch effort to break the tank push with mnm’s, but neither effort dented Mom’s sizable force. Good games were exchanged all around, and I thanked both of them for the great show.
