Yavoon' vs -Tool-, a Double

The Map: The Long Lost Temple.

The People:

      [White] Yavoon': This Terran Commander is best known for his Zergling Steaks over rye.
      [Blue] -Tool-: Although no newcomer to the Zerg, this Cerebrate has rapidly been climbing the ranks of Kerrigan's Forces.
      [Red] AlexanderYoshi: Me, your humble Narrator and guide through this vast conflict.

The Game:

Yavoon', our Terran Commander, Acquired the most Terran despised location on the map, the 12 o'clock. -Tool- found himself starting at the 9, and each began their own strategies. Spirits were high among the camps, and imposssible dreams of grandeur floated in the heads of our competitors. The usual silence was broken only by the fusion cutters of Yavoon's SCVs. -Tool- decided to be greedy, and broke out an early Hatchery on his ramp, while Yavoon' decided to go with the Terran Garage Door.

While his Hatchery was growing, -Tool- evolved a Spawning Pool and Extracter Simultaneously, appearing to go for Rapid Tech, where as Yavoon' built 2 Barracks and pumped Marines. Yavoon' also started his Academy about this point, evidently attempting a MedaRine Rush. -Tool- sent his overlord in a counter clockwise direction, this lead to almost no recon on Yavoon' s base at all. Yavoon's SCV found -Tool-'s completely Defenseless main. Running a quick in and out Manuever, Yavoon's SCV escaped unharmed. Espying a chance for a quick finish, Yavoon' ordered his 3 Musketeers into the fight.

-Tool-, on the other hand just continued to pursue Tech constructing a Lair and a Hydralisk Den, and completely neglected to build any attack units whatsoever. The Three Musketeers arrived at -Tool-'s main in record time, and chased one of his overlords back over the ledge. Realizing he had perhaps made a fatal error, -Tool- scrambled to prepare for assault.

Building a Sunken at his ramp, and starting to pump Zergling, -Tool- readied himself. Yavoon's Musketeers espied the Creep colony on the ledge, and as Reinforcements were enroute, held the line for their commander. About this time, Yavoon's Academy completed, and Yavoon' began construction upon his first ComSat Station.

After massing 12 Zergling, the brave -Tool- Broke out into his natural, but the everwatching eye of Yavoon' spotted the Zergling, and so retreated his 3 Marines to the choke of -Tool-'s Natural, where the joined 2 of their comrades and a Medic, who quickly healed their injuries and kept them safe from the stampeding Zergling, who in turn were quickly made into mincemeat by the 5 Marines.

About this time, Yavoon' expanded to his Natural, having contained his enemy, he knew now that it was time to increase his income. As everyone knows, an animal becomes most dangerous when trapped. Undaunted by his loss of Zergling, -Tool- massed a new army, consisting of Zergling and a couple Hydralisks. Then, after hearing his current Tech Goal of Lurkers had been reached, -Tool- morphed a couple into his standing forces. Yavoon' began construction of his Engineering Bay and an additional ComSat Station, after a timely Scan revealed the Lurkers growing within their eggs. Trying to Use his new Forces to destroy Yavoon's containment force, -Tool- was frustrated by the wise Musketeers who merrily attacked his forces, then ran to a safe distance before shooting again. However, -Tool- compensated by bringing in his Lurker forces, who despite the fact that they like Spice Girls, were still effective in frightening off Yavoon's forces. Filled with spirit and hope, -Tool-'s forces were now confident that no other force could stop them.

Unfortunately, such things are not always ment to be, and the additional 8 Meda/Rines Yavoon' had arriving settled the matter, essentially decimating the 3 Hydra, 2 Lurker, and 1 remaining Zergling. Back at his main, Yavoon' continued building Meda/Rine combos, and built a third Barracks to help speed up the process of building them.

Using the Marines who had just destroyed the 2 Lurkers, Yavoon' Pressed on towards -Tool-'s Choke yet again. The Marines chased a nearby Overlord over the northern ledge of -Tool-'s Natural, then proceeded to return to their previous position outside -Tool-'s base. However, running one of his Lurkers around the path Yavoon's forces were travelling, then skillfully dodging 4 marines and a Turret, -Tool- ran his Lurker to the top of Yavoon's ramp. Sadly, -Tool- burrowed his lurker 1 block within the range of Yavoon's Turret, and the Marines made short work of his Hole.

Now obviously taking control of a majority of the map, Yavoon' began to power. After ComSatting -Tool-'s Ledge, and spotting 3 sunkens, Yavoon' decided he had waited long enough and so began construction of his First Factory, and reinforced his Natural Choke against any additional Lurker attempts. Additionally, Yavoon' started a second expansion at the mineral natural of the 12. -Tool-, however, was still recovering from the loss of his forces, and began to rebuild a standing army.

While Lurkers managed to scare Yavoon's MedaRines away from his base momentarily, 2 ComSats quickly destroyed their chances of an invasion. Using the time wisely, -Tool- finally expanded to his natural, and gathered another 12 Zergling to prevent Yavoon's containment forces from making a quick kill on the building.

Yavoon' meanwhile began construction on a Starport, with a new goal of Science Vessels in mind. There was an Eerie silence over the land as Yavoon' began to build tanks. Knowing that being defensive couldn't much help him, -Tool- struck out with his zergling and few hydra forces, attempting to decimate Yavoon's Containment force yet again. Reinforcements made short work of Yavoon's Medarines, but Yavoon' also had reinforcements, ones -Tool- couldn't see. Sending his fresh force of 8 Marines and 2 Medics into -Tool-'s natural, Yavoon' dodged -Tool-'s sunken colonies, and destroyed his new Hatchery. However, still cogniscent of the 3 sunkens on -Tool-'s ramp, Yavoon' retreated his forces and waited for his Tanks to arrive. While this happened, one of -Tool-'s Overlords acquired some important recon into the state of Yavoon's defenses. Yavoon' decided that Three mineral gathering posts simply weren't enough, and so took over the mineral expansion at the 3 and eventually all of the 3 at the 3 (See?), giving him a total of 4 resource nodes to -Tool-'s 1.

Yavoon's tanks arrived, and he quickly moved them into position, preparing to siege the remainder of -Tool-'s forces.

However, in a move which even took me completely by surprise, -Tool- Dropped a force of 3 hydra and 2 lings into the peon line of one of Yavoon's expansions. After destroying the SCVs, instead of charging into the Command Center, -Tool- Instead morphed his Hydras into lurkers, and proceeded to drop the Lurkers as they hatched into Yavoon's Main. At first, only 1 was dropped into Yavoon's main, and the marines seemed more than enough to handle it. However, on reflection, I saw that Yavoon' stopped his attack on -Tool- and instead moved forces into his 3 o'clock expansion to take out the still hatching Lurkers, and didn't notice the lurker making lambchops out of his forces.

Encourageded by the success, -Tool- moved his Lurkers out of the range of the Tanks, and dropped another 2 into Yavoon's main. After he frightened or destroyed all of Yavoon's main SCVs, he over stretched his success, and attemped to move onto the cliff near Yavoon's Natural. However a tank and SV made quick mash out his attempt.

Meanwhile, back at the Ranch, -Tool- hoped his diversion had succeded long enough to kill of Yavoon's standing tanks, but Yavoon' watched for such a chance, and an Irradiate quickly destroyed any chances the Hydras had against the tanks. Realizing Hydra/Lurkers/Lings wasn't going to cut it against SVs, Marines and Tanks, -Tool- finally created a Spire, but unfortunately, since there was no longer a threat to his home, Yavoon' shoved his forces into -Tool-'s main.

-Tool- then in an excellent last ditch move, morphed 3 Hydras into Lurker Eggs as Marine Fodder, built 2 scourge at the last second, and slammed them into Yavoon's lone Science Vessel, blinding the Marines as the Lurker eggs hatched. However Yavoon' was beyond stopping at this point, and 2 ComSat station and 4 Tanks quickly destroyed -Tool-'s main. -Tool- Fought to the bitter end, attacking tanks with Drones, and even trying to escape and build a new hatchery. However, after a weary fight, -Tool-'s forces succumbed to Yavoon's.
