Myself randomed as yellow toss top left
My opponent (can't recall the name)green toss bottom left
Upon warping in, I immediately ordered the construction of more probes and set-up an early production schedule that looked like this:
7)pylon
9)gate
11)assim
I had sent my 7th probe "Zippy" around to find my adversary, pretty much my standard opening move when playing toss. I sent him in a clockwise tour of the map, so i found him last, just as my first zeal was coming in.
Zippy comes in the top part of his base just as canons are warping in by the bridge. He scouts briefly and exits by the right side also witnessing canons there.
"Executor," Zippy announces once in the clear "The enemy has only a forge and is just now warping his first gate. He seems to be turtling up sir."
"Very Good Zippy" I reply,"We are going ahead with operation Reaver. Return to base, you will be needed to lead our defenses in the unlikely event of a zealot attack."
My zealot was well trained , as soon as he heard the words Operation reaver he knew his place was at the middle of the peon line and that he would have to make do without his shield-brothers for the early part of this campaign.
In no time a cybernetics core appeared, followed closely by a robotics facility and my first dragoon. I ordered a shuttle, a support bay and... a forge. This last got the attention of my troops as usually in this case a 2nd gateway is called for. They looked at me worriedly and returned to work.
A transmission from my opponent came on the air:
"I have beaten commanders ranked 1700 on the ladder"
"Then you are my better" I admitted "My current rank is 981"
"Oh no, you are good, lower is better..."
I smiled very very evilly and cut off transmission from this so-called commander.
At this time my shuttle was ready and I assured the pilot that his engines would be modified for speed increase by in time for his mission, or at least the critical insertion part. The reaver came in so after and I gave orders for an indirect flight to the enemy base. I then looked at Zippy.
"Go to the expansion between us and our opponent" I said "Once there, await my signal to begin an expansion staring with a 2 canons near the bridge followed by the nexus." Off Zippy went.I looked at my probes and said.
"Now you can make that 2nd gateway"
Just as the shuttle was nearing objective I gave Zippy the signal.
"Zealot squad on the move,eight of them, apparently moving eastward!" The pilot called over the comm.
This was his first attempt at scouting me and he was going counter-clockwise, I made a mental note to commend zippy again for his choice of exit.
I ordered another dragoon but my resources were stretched and i didn't to cancel that expansion. besides it was my best bet in case I was overrun.
After some kick ass flying through the canon maze taking only one shot portside my pilot delivered his cargo. The reaver promptly destroyed all of his probes Just some of mine were getting ready to transfer to my new base.
Thats when the zealots hit me from the east side. However with Zippy's friends joining the zealot and goons to defend They made shortwork of that attack with only one goon lost.
Thats when my opponent left the arena.
Lessons learned.
1) cannons are a false security blanket
2)reavers are cool
3) gotta go I can't miss my bus... :)
