This is my first BR, so please cut me a little slack-I also decided to do it on a game "Axis & Allies" that I am at least average at hehehe.

It all started yesterday afternoon-got home from work, loaded up BNET and BW and got spanked in a 1 on 1 in sherwood forest (Queen rushing is not the best way to go....). After that I started a 3 way FFA as toss on a little island map-tried to expand got hydra dropped (By -Dark-Hawke- I think-sorry if I blew the name). My main was falling but my expansion was fine and I thought I still had a chance when my connection severed. I was pissed-it made me look like I disc. when losing-I take pride in taking my beatings like a snivling little child :P

At any rate my BNET threshold so I decided to go back to an old standby-Axis&Allies. As you might guess its a WWII computer game based on a fairly popular board game. The idea is there are five countries (UK, USA, Japan, USSR, and Germany) and the time is early 1942. Each country has territories that are give the controlling player money each turn (if you capture that territory then you get that income). You can use the money you get each turn to buy units, (Tanks, Infantry, Transports, Battleships, Carriers, Subs, Fighters, and Bombers) to buy factories, or to buy a chance to improve your units. The game is broken in to player turns and phases in those turns-you buy items, you move to attack, you attack, you finish your movement, and you place items that you buy.

Sorry for the long intro, but I hope it helps with the flow of the report....

At any rate, I was in the MSN Zone chat room for the game, found 4 other players, and started up a game. I was Japan, my ally (UBER-Blitzed) was German (with that name I assumed he always played the Krauts and was good at them). The game turns went as follows-USSR, Germany, UK, Japan, USA, repeat.

When Russia went he decided to only attack at sea and got a little unlucky with the dice (combat is decide by computer dice rolls-a unit either loses or wins outright, there are no wounded units). Russia ended up sinking one sub and one transport but lost a sub, a plane, and a transport in the attack. The plane loss was critical, as that plane is needed to defend on Germany's turn. USSR then moved and placed his purchased units-he had all his infantry placed in Karellia except 1 in the Caucucs (sp?) and placed his tanks in the Russia capital land mass. He also backed away from the Japan position to consolodate a denensive postion in the east. The reason Karellia is important is that there is a factory there, and if Germany took Karellia they get use of the factory.

Now we get a shot... Germany did attack and take Karellia in a bloody Battle (17 or so dead commie infantry and 1 dead figter vs about 9 dead Germany infantry and 1 dead fighter). On other fronts the Krauts assauted Egypt, took it (along with a dead UK defending Sub) and took the rest of Northern Africa. On the High Seas Uber took it in the shorts-A UK Battleship and Transport took out a Sub and 2 fighters while only losing the transport. It was looking good for the forces of darkness, Germany had taken a lot of money and place Russia in a very weak position :)

After German unit placement the UK player "Maxdrainage" (the only one who showed any real skill during the whole game) went on a mini-rampage. He attacked and took the Ukraine and Finland-Norway. He also attacked and reagained Egypt with Indian troops via a UK transport. He also used his Bomber to damage the Germany econmy. All in all, a decent recovery from the Brits.

On my turn I made the decision to forgo a naval victory to concentrate on taking out Russia (you can win as the Axis if your economy reaches a large size). I built a factory, took two russian territories, took india (all these were undefended), attacked China lost 2 infantry but took it. At the same time I consolidated my entire fleet (2 BB's, a carrier, a sub, and 1 of my two transports) in the sea of Japan. Pearl Harbor never occured for the USA. I placed my units (the factory and 1 transport). And await the USA move.

The American bought all naval units (a battleship, a transport) and did nothing for the rest of the turn.

Russia attacked and took back one of the territories in the east from me, and tried to tack back Karellia. There were a lot of dead Infantry and burning tanks after this turn.

Germany decided to consolidate and took back his europe territories from the UK, he also invaded south and took Iran and got Egypt back again. He purchased tanks, infantry, and a plane to beat back the Brit fleet.

In an effort to hold off Russian defeat the UK attacked and barely pulled off a D-Day assult on France, losing a lot of Air and ground units. All the European countries were in a precarious position.... when the UK player did the equivalent of "lagging out". After a brief argument the USA took over the UK forces :)

On my turn I took the rest of china, took some more of Russia (was 1/2 way to moscow) and took Alaska as a diversion. I built another factory and some ground units. (Russia was going to overrun dammit).

The USA took the bait, a huge naval action took place in the north pacific...dead Jap sailors everywhere (and some US sailors too). Other than that the USA did nothing but build more naval units...the USSR player was cursing him a lot by now.

Russia did on more futile attack on German forces and left the game-USA player took over all the allied forces and promptly saw the USSR rolled over and the African contenent turn gray (countries matched the colors of their commander and Germany has a grey color). The other half of the map was yellow (Japanesse color). At the end of the american turn the game was over and my 6th beer of the night was quaffed.....

Lessons learned:
-In any game if you don't attack you lose (wish I could figure that out in BW)

-Watching the other team in-fight is really entertaining (there is no "Allied Chat" here).

-It is cool to see the map turn your color-wish all three BW races had some sort of "creep"

-BNET has really given my modem (56k) the shaft with a few Disc's ever since 1.06

-Drinking and playing is a lot easier in turn-based games

Please let me know what you think (Even for PR-at least he has opinions)...

Please delete the other two-I really suck at this :D
