I don't play BGH, but I'll play the regular version if I can't find any other game. So I did.
The Good Guys
gnu-b, chose protoss, 5:00
TheGreatR, random zerg, 9:00
The Lamers
}-KaoS-{, chose zerg, 7:00
tossa, chose terran, 11:00
Pre-game, KaoS whines about rushing and wants a 20 minute grace period. "Ludicrous!" I think, and say that I'll give them 10 minutes, max, before they die. We start on that amiable note.
Not being a trusting sort by nature, I went double gates to begin with, figuring I'd build a few zealots, then expand and build many many goons from five gates and win at 10 minutes. I looked at my watch when we started so I could be punctual. :)
My first zealot had warped in when 6 lings from KaoS came at me. I lost the zealot and a probe, but he died. Really sucky micro on his part, thank goodness. My partners overlord in his base saw him send out 6 more, but this time I had two zealots and my compact base kept him from surounding them. I lost one zealot and all 6 lings died.
I build a pylon and a third gateway above the gas that leads into my main, then a forge and a couple cannons. He sends about a dozen lings, I lose four of my five my zealots since I stopped building them for an idiot while I micro'd earlier, but then the cannons finish warping and that's that.
Soon I have 9 zealots and send them for KaoS; since he hasn't done anything but send lings at me, I figure he sucks. Plus I'm pissed at him for trying to double-cross me. I look in my partner's base and he has 2 sunkens, a hydra den, and a lot of drones, but nothing else. I yell at him to build another hatch and get some units. Then he gets disconnected. I figure there's no way these lamers would ally with me, so I don't ask.
On the way to KaoS's base, I pass a dozen M&F&M in the center. Uh-oh. I continue to KaoS and wipe his drones out, figuring I'd at least take one with me, but instead of continuing into my base the M&F come and save KaoS. I kill a few--he must have stimmed the M&F since they outran the medics--but then the medics caught up and my zealots fried.
I expand to 6:00 and build a gateway and a couple cannons there, as well as a third gateway in my main. I have 1 ground attack upgrade as well as zealot speed; I start building zealots while a templar archive warps. I hate medics, and I'm even more afraid of tanks. I build another gateway at my expansion and research goon range.
The terran doesn't wait as long as I like and I only have a couple goons at my main to support my 10 zealots, but I have two charged templar and storm has barely finished researching. When he sieges, half a dozen zealots go and commit suicide before I can stop them, but I send the rest in and pray I get lucky with psi storm. I do; the bulk of his M&M die and my goons finish all three tanks, weakened by storm. Zealots aren't very useful at this point but I am low on gas trying to build more templar, so when I have 10 I send them with 2 goons to KaoS. He's had more than long enough to get some defense, but he's gone for mutas instead; he has 5 mutas that kill my 2 goons but not before I raze his hatch, spire, and spawning pool. I merge my two newest templar into an archon and sent that with goons to finish him. He hasn't expanded, and he's eliminated.
}-KaoS-{ has been eliminated.
gnu-b: Die, cheating bastard!
}-KaoS-{ has left the game.
Tossa comes again with M&M, tanks, and 3 SV. I am getting more confident since my observers show that he only expanded to the gas + min next to his base, and I've expanded a second time to 3:00. He has 6 tanks now, though, and he emps my archon and irradiates my templar. He doesn't push, though, and I get another five goons out of my gates. That's all I need; I send 8 goons from my main + 2 templar in a shuttle up to the edge of his range, while 10 goons come from my expansion on the other side. Both prongs attack at once; again psi storm wipes out his infantry and his force is lost. I still have over a dozen goons left, with more building and a stargate warping in. I might need D-web to brake his defenses, but now I have the upper hand.
Then tossa leaves without so much as a "good game."
Dumb hunters players. But I was sweating, I tell you, when I saw those M&M and my partner got disced. :)
ObMark4Commntary:
When you've just wiped a sizeable enemy army, chances are it's a good time to counter. If tossa had attacked me my first attack on KaoS, instead of waiting for tanks, I would have been in deep crap. At the very least, he could have pushed me back into my main and bunkered in.
Recon. (ObWhoop.) If he'd seen my expansions, he probably wouldn't have been overconfident, and would have expanded more himself. I'm pretty sure he was about resourced out when he left; my main had been empty for a while and my first exp was getting a little mined out. And this is on hunters.
It's hard to keep track of chronology for a BR, and I apologise for being vague about the periods where time just passes while we rebuilt. :)
