Well it's been a while since I have written a BR because I haven't had a lot to say. However I played a series of games last night that I have to report if for no other reason than to promote myself. In that regard I dedicate this report to Ghost~Lizard who is the master of self promotion.

THE SCENE
Ice and I are having a bad night getting raped in several 2v2 games and generally feeling like we suck when Ronin the weird guy he is logs on at 3:30 AM his time. 12:30 for us West Coast boys. Rather than play 2 v Ronin that I felt Ice and I could win we decide to go pubbie bashing. We therefore create a 3v3 HUNTERS ROOLES!@! game and wait for 3 victims to show up. Imagine my surprise when Dark Phenomeon shows up and says he has 2 pals coming. BiK and Kamus join shortly thereafter. We play 3 games. Game 1 ice and Ronin decide to put their heads WAY WAY up their asses and we lose. I of course played flawlessly but we lost anyway. Game 2 and game 3 we win quite easily and then Ronin, Ice, and Dark Phenon go to sleep leaving me BiK and Kamus.

THE HISTORY
About 4 months ago Ice and I had to EXTREME displeasure of playing with BiK. After Ice and I waxed he and his pal in a couple 2v2 games they started calling us hackers etc... and generally acting quite "GAY" so I didn't really like BiK to much to begin with

BACK TO THE SCENE
So the 3 of us are sitting in the channel and I suggest a 1v1 game with one of us observing. Kamus suggests temple and so I join his game

GAME 1
In the chat room Kamus decides he will play me and BiK will observe. I ask BiK if he wants to play the winner. "You mean play Kamus next?", he asks…I say I guess …. For this very statement is probably why I'm writing this report. Man I love playing trash talkers. ;-)

I random and draw Toss at the 6 spot, my favorite on temple for 2 reasons. #1 the minerals are good for mining and your second natural is in close proximity to your natural. I use my standard Toss 1v1 Vs random build. Pylon - Gateway - Pylon with constant probe production. This allows total flexibility regardless of what race you are facing. Also if playing zerg that second pylon is critical to kill off a 4 pooler.

After a probe begins to warp in a gateway I send him out to explore. Sure enough the second place he looks he finds a zerg at 12 with 6 lings coming out of the base. Well my probe fakes left but the lings are ignoring him for now and they head off seeking other prey. Unhindered with only a slight reduction in shield power my hunter probe goes in to find a lair morphing!@! Yes the one hatch tech build is on. Back at the ranch I have decided on the one gate expand on 24 build. The lings do show up but not before I had 2 zeals and they wisely retreat. I considered rushing with my 3 zeals but due to the long walk up to 12 I decide to get a lil more recon with Mr. probe who was lounging under a tree. Unhindered he sees not a spire but a den. Oh yeah the lurker rush is on. The probes life is cut short from the dreaded sunken colony of doom.

Knowing with a spire I would need cannons of some sort I already had 2 cannons at my choke and began double robo bays and a third gate. Hmmm think that I'm gonna win? Consider at this point he has 1 hatch and I have my main and natural at full steam pumping from 3 gates and am upgrading attack and armor while warping in 2 robo bays and a citadel.

ACK !@! the bastard didn’t realize he was supposed to just die! He drops 4 lurkers into my main. Being the mineral miser that I am I only had warped 1 cannon around my main nexi and so he runs into my peon line out of cannon range. A full-scale evacuation is called to my natural while we awaited observers to arrive from adun. Since only one side of my natural had cannon coverage I block my ramp with a goon in case he decides to go for my one source of income. While we waited for observers we continued pumping troops from our 4 gates and warped in a templar archives. Total damage caused by the lurkers was around 6 probes and 2 pylons. Now its payback time. With observers and 24 mixed ground 1/1 troops I walked up to see what was up with Mr. Zerg. Taking out a couple lurks I decide to take out his natural and do so quite easily. Sending fresh troops and several templar from my now 8 gates it's not long before he is overwhelmed.

At this point he begins complaing how the 12 spot sucks because he cant defend his natural from his main and surely he would have won if he didn’t have the crappy spot and demands a rematch. BiK of course agrees that it was most definitely the 12 spot that caused the loss.

GAME 2
Random seems broken for me as I draw Toss again at the 9 spot. Gosh I love the 9 spot even more than the 6 spot because of the minerals and natural and the cliff bluff overlooking the natural from which cannons and templar can repel attacks with ease. Wheee 9 owns!@! Again I follow the standard toss build vs random of pylon- gate- pylon. Due to a bit of grumbling early I suspected that Kamus was at the 12 spot again……and sure enough he was and gosh lucky me he was zerg again…this time double hatching at his ramp. Following the strategy of expanding at 24 from one gate I leave my probe at his expo. Soon enough a small skirmish occurs when my probe battles his drone which was attempting to expand. My probe of course kills the bastard drone but then lings come and end my fun. I weave and attempt to get some recon but the lings are too crafty and surround the probe. They then taunt the helpless probe before ending his life.

At this point I need recon bad to see what I'm facing and send a detachment of 3 zeals. 2 go for the natural and draw the forces out while the third sneaks into the main and finds 3 hatches..gas and nothing else. I resume powering my ass off and have 5 gates a templar achive and 3 forges. What can I say I'm an upgrade whore ;-)

As I decide to take my second natural a mass of lings attack my zeals. I am forced to cancel my warping pylons and nexus and the lings charge into my natural. They want to KILL. Zerglings are my favorite zerg unit. Dollar for dollar they just kick way too much ass. It takes 3 hits from a zeal and early on lings can own zeals in the open ground. Unforunately for me I was VASTLY outnumbered by these lings. One thing though. I had 2 cannons pelting them from high ground and … oh… +1 attack…. Im afraid the deathstar is FULLY operational. +1 zeals OWN lings because as we all know they die in 2 hits. Seeing the carnage he retreats the few remaining lings and I take my second natural.

Once I have 2 control groups of speed zeals I attack. Once again I use my masterful tactical brain and run for his natural forcing him to engage me there with 12 of my zeals. He sends his forces after me and 6 zeals attack from the rear (oh yeah) while 6 run into the main. I click back to home and que up more units and the manage my 6 zeals I ran into his main. I see a spire and then begin wasting drones. I kill ALL his drones but one before my last zeal dies. I'm not sure what has happened to my other 18 zeals but they were dead. Fortunately I had a lot of gates. I don’t know how many but I think 8 or 9. Kamus then begins ranting about 12 sucking and blah blah blah I ignore him of course and then he launches and attack with muta.

I had cannon coverage but there was a spot where he could attack with no fear. Having only 2 goons at the time I go all goons from all gates. I'll hit the fast forward button and let you know that once I had 28 goons and 4 templar I attacked. His natural fell easily and his comment was "WOW 2/2/2 " My patrolling zealot recon team located a budding expo at 3 which of course they killed.

Once again Kamus blamed the 12 spot not understanding the true reason for losing. Kamus asks BiK who had been observing if he wanted to play…SAY YES SAY YES!@! I said silently, since BiK is the one I wanted to play all along!@!. BiK says he sucks in 1v1… of course I'm fairly certain he was avoiding a beatdown so we proceed to game 3.

GAME 3
Wouldn’t you know it as random is broken I draw toss again. I was REALLY hoping to get zerg vs his toss but it wasn’t meant to be. Doing my normal toss vs random build my scouting discovers a scouting SCV. I immediately warp in an assimilator and a core. While pumping zeals from 1 gate. Scouting finds him at the 9 spot with 1 rax..gas and a bunker. Ohhhhh looks like heavy metal!@! Knowing the counter for heavy metal I go into 2-gate goon production and begin researching range. I take my first 3 goons and 2 zeals and change rally points to his choke.

My goons and zeals are greeted by 3 vultures running down his ramp. Of course they are blasted into little bits but one manages to turn his speeder around and run away. Range kicks in and I think it's probably over. I kill 1 siege tank but another one is well placed and I am forced to contain. Since he didn’t take his ramp I camp 6 ranged goons at the top of his ramp and expand and throw up gate 4.

Things are going nicely as I'm pumping zeals to break the push when it comes when my happiness is intruuepted by a 4 vulture drop!@! Using one of my favorite tactics he forces my probes to run to the natural and I bring goons in to kill the pesky vultures. Since my goons are still in place I expand at 3 main and start up the templar tech tree. As I'm taking the cliff on my natural he drops 2 tanks. I was planning on warping in cannons up there but have only one goon and a pylon. I send half the probes to my new expo at 3 and half back to my main. 30 seconds later 4 zeals end the cliff siege. This is when I realize his master plan.

He is pushing across the ravine into my main. This is a tactic which many terran players use. Rather than push all the way across the map they simply use micro and dropships to set up and push into my main. At this point I mentally surrender my main and use hit and runs to slow his push. My goons at his choke are STILL in place so I expand again to 12 main and warp in my first couple dt.

At this point I'm REALLY tired and decide death by carrier should be a no brainer considering my resources. I warp in 2 core and 3 stargates at the choke of 3. I put them here in an attempt to hide them. At some point he had killed my goons at his choke so I sent in 3 dt to check out the status. He had around 18 0/1 rines an scv had just began to construct a turret there…so I needed to hurry. My 1/0 DT were slashing with impunity until he scanned. For those of you who advocate armor first….BLEH!@! see how useful it was? But he scanned way to late and all his rines were dead. I was forced to run though from tank fire.

Let's evaluate the status. I have my main mining fully still although I know its almost time to run my probes. My natural is in pumping as is 3. 12 is open but only around 6 probes on minerals but 3 on gas. I warp in 5 more star gates and have 8 now ;-)

STOP! Storm raid time. I take 2 zeals and 2 templar and go for his natural. To my great delight he has a SHITLOAD of scvs mining. The 2 zeals draw fire while I lay down 4 storms spread across his miners killing ALL the helpless scv. Man I love doing that. In fact….even when I lose games if I'm able to rape workers I'm happy. I'm just sick like that.

Meanwhile carriers are popping off the assembly line and I soon hear that damn nasty noise psi limit reached.

He has managed to kill my main and natural and has a cliff drop working over my 12 natural which doesn’t bother me since I have taken the 3 natural and transfer the probes there. Besides I have around 6000/3000. When he attempts to drop my 3 main I decide to let my master plan be revealed. As I take out his drop I send my 13 carriers and 7 corsairs equipped with gayweb to his second natural. I noticed earlier he had taken the top left island so I dropped 6 zeals and killed the defenseless island. I was waiting for 3/3/3 to kick in as I felt 2/2/2 when he sent assorted gollys and marines to battle the blimps. Needless to say it takes a LOT to whomp 13 carriers.

Of course at this point he begins complaining how terran suck ect ect.

LESSONS LEARNED
1. The 1 gate expand early vs zerg is quite good. I was a non-believer at first and had never tried it but it works wonderfully.
2. Skill is important. Kamus is a good player but honestly he was out of his league. Whets so funny to me is all the excuses he made while losing horribly.

3. Errrm I don’t know why I'm even writing this but maybe someone likes it.
