Starcraft: Chapter One: Tiaydar

As the last shot of disrupter cannons resounded throughout the canyon, a lone protosswarrior named Alfarie searched through the rubble of the square Terran encampment named Tiaydar. Preator Crixis had sent a band of talwart fighters, led by the tall, muscular, teal skinned Zealot, Alfarie, to check on the aftermath of what the ravenous Zerg
Swarms had done to the unsuspecting confederate base.

Alfarie sent a quick telepathic message to Pyrotharis telling him to hurry to her position by the main Terran intelligence building, the Command Center. She slowly made her way through the dusty sand to the entrance of the Center and waited for fellow warrior, Pyrotharis. She reflected on the brief battle with the Zerg she witnessed. Hundreds of little Zergs, about a meter and a half tall, assailed her and her comrades relentlessly, only through superior technology were her and her allies able to defeat the Swarm. This conflict took place 60 miles or so away from Tiaydar. Over three dozen Protoss combatants gave there life that hour.

Impatience getting the best of her, she walked through the door and took in the small room, seeing the consequences of the Zerg assault. Dead marines littered the floor, covered in the blood of their comrades and gauss riffle rounds. Alfarie checked the corridor for signs of life, shuddering at what these “Zerg” could do. Her thoughts were
disturbed by Pyrotharis strutting down the hall.

“En Taro Adun, Alfaire,” Pyrotharis said pleasantly as he looked at his surroundings.

“Everyone is dead,” was Alfarie’s dry reply.

She started heading to the medical facility in the basement, her last area to check. Pyrotharis ran to catch up, complaining to her that there was no reason to go down there and they should report to Crixis that the base was dead. A hissing sound echoed throughout the hall as they descended the dark stairway. A human scream was cut unnaturally short. The duo of Zealots bolted into the room, Psi Blades ignited. A two-legged creature was hacking at the door, a dead terran at its feet. When the two Protoss warriors came into view of the Zerg beast, it screamed
its battle cry, salvia slushy around in its jaws, blood lust in its eyes, rushed to Alfarie, who decimated it in
a single stroke of her psionic weapon.

“What was that?” Pyrothairs asked, checking the terran body for a pulse, only a little bit startled by the dead zerg menace

“The Zerg. Let’s get inside that room.” Alfarie slashed the metallic door several times until it gave way.

She cautiously stepped inside the dark room. A dozen broken stasis cells lined the wall, a few computer terminals blinked brokenly by the command terminal, and a small terran was asleep in a cradle on the autopsy table. She towered
over the young child, analyzing it carefully. Pyrothairs inspected the rest of the room with a wondering eye, at seeing a terran base for the first time.

“This little one survived the onslaught,” Alfarie stated. Pyrothairs crept over to Alfarie and the infant terran. The child was smaller then his right arm,

“We can’t leave it here. Besides, the Preator also needs a specimen to study and what better then a baby?” Alfarie’s eyes dared Pyrotharis to protest her judgment.

“As shall it be, my dear,” A mental sigh escaped Pyrothairs as they headed back to the Protoss’s makeshift base.
