why havent people learned this yet??? YOU DONT BUILD MUTAS AGAINST TOSS ... sigh... the only reason to build muties is if your micro with hydras sucks =[

uhhhhhhhhhthe only reasonNOT to go muts vs toss is if they are going air. other wse mutas own .. goons are clumsy so mutas micro past them.. they can kill shuttle in action they can do al kinds of stuff FOO

I also think like .simple. - Hydras dont cut it vs Toss, Id rather go Mutaling, of course Ill stop Muta production if I see 3 StarGates... :)

Hydra usually can cut it versus toss=] Muta's a risky investment against most Toss players, since the better counter to muta's are Archon's (which, ironically rape lings and allow zealots to get free hits on sunkens) or even Corsairs (which can then be used to hunt overlords, like Necro did).

I'd hafta say the only way I'd go Muta versus a Toss is if I know their going to reaver drop or if the map is very large and mobility is more a key than mass force.

What i dont get is building THREE stargates before you even knew he was going mutas. Thats 450 gas, i'd rather have 3 temps, but thats just me, and i suck.

Well, I didnt KNOW hed go for Mutas, but I was bloody sure, and 3 StarGates were my only hope to get out a kickass group of Sairs in time

LOL mutaling is EASY to stop as toss... you could go archons/zealots/corsairs... or you could go zealots/reavers/archons/corsairs
whatever you do it can easily rape mutaling =[

Zealots/reavers/archons/corsairs? Um, that's all three toss trees.

Somehow I think by the time a toss gets all three trees the zerg will be doing more than just muta/ling.

Uh oh. Damn. ralessi is maybe right. I just lost with the same strat on the same map against a mass Hydra guy - however, I was short on gas b/c this gay map has no gas at gimmie, so I could not pump nuff Temps cuz I also had a few Reavers - a short sumup of the game:

Same builds as vs Bob, but he goes Hydra. I go 5 Gates and 1 RobFac and try to outupgrade him (with 4 Forges, doh! my maths sux :). He, however, had infested the whole bottom of the map, and due to my gas shortcomings I had no sairs till endgame and so I really lacked of recon. I killed a few xpansions, made several Reaver/Psi drops and also killed a ton of Hydras with Speed upgraded 3/3/3 Zlots (Hydras were 2/1 if I remember correctly) and Reavers, but in the end I lost due to his economic power

Lessons:
1) Rivalry is gay
2) Dont let Bob_the_newt observe your games, he brings you bad luck ;-)
3) Protoss - Gas < Terran
4) Sairs shouldnt cost any gas so Toss have an easier way to scout :)

and the most importand lesson:

5) Hydras are too mobile - they can walk from place to place. They have to be waaaay slowed down to combat imbalance, maybe at the speed of an ensnared and devoured BC (Bob suggested an ensnared Reaver but I think that d be imbalanced =)

Hydras don't seem very mobile when they're running around everywhere trying to hold off Mutas.

Grrr... I sooo miss the days when mutas, scouts, wraiths didn't suck. Maybe I should go back to vanilla? Not bad.

Heh, at least the Reasearch Burst Laser for the Wraith was removed before 1.0 and it had its ground attack automatically... I think it was, anyway.
