This report had every bit of care that I try to give my own, AND the writer was actually a good player... AND so was the opponent... AND unlike my use of Ultralisks, FLS uses them before the game is well in hand.
This is the most enjoyable report I've read in a long time... no offense to the other cool reports, but I really followed this one and found myself rooting for FLS. |

| FYI, look for a report on me vs Fractal Wave in a day or so, our best of 3 (game 3) was really a good game for people who aren't as godly as FLS or Blank or Mark4 or whoever... BTW Blank, gg the other day on Snowbound, at least I hung in it for a while. |

Nice work. I loved the screen shots. And of course, I love Defilers! I find it useful to burrow Defilers all over the map, especially on the opponent's side of your choke. If you happen to catch sight of your enemy approaching, pop that Defiler out and plauge their punk asses! Works especially well if the player didn't select "A" for attack and then left click...their units won't retaliate, and your Defiler can burrow again until he's needed.
As for Ultras...yeah, they definitely are usefull, when in the proper situation. One time in a game, I had a Defiler eat an Ultra so he could cast Dark Swarm and save his own wretched ass! If it weren't for that Ultra, my Defiler would've perished from the Wraiths, but I got off with only the loss of an Ultra. Whew! :D |

One time a guy made ultras on me in a zerg/zerg game, because I had him contained and he planned on darkswarming and ultraing past my hydras. Don't try this trick a home, because I broodlinged his 5 ultras and he surrendered.
Mind control is the best Protoss retaliation to ultras, even grab a defiler or two. Archons fight ultras fairly well if they can take advantage of splash at all, but of course FLS didn't use just ultras and lings. Terran don't have a late game unit that can take out an Ultra in one shot. Yamato? Desparation... Irradiate? Hah... D-Matrixed Cracked out Firebats? Maybe they could barely work... Wait I know! You could NUKE the ultras... "hold still". |

Coulda consumed 8 lings for all that money and made more defilers with the gas :) |

Bigmell: Yeah, I know, but I didn't have any Zerglings on hand. It was a desparate situation; either they were both going to die, or Defiler could sell out his buddy and save himself. Fortunately the Wraiths concentrated on shooting the Ultra, so Defiler could survive long enough to eat him and put up a Dark Swarm. Of course, the guy knew that Defiler was burrowed under the Dark Swarm, but it gave enough time for re-inforcements (namely another Defiler and some Hydras) to come and save him.
Services were held for the Ultra, but no one showed up. :D |
