Don't worry about the raters... I can't seem to figure out what it takes to make the "perfect" report, which is my goal. Always shoot for the stars, right? One of these days, I'm going to hit my dismount for the perfect 10... but you've already achieved that .Praetor.

To those of you outside the inside joke... Fractal and I played a game on this map. He was Toss and I was Zerg. I won with containment and micromanagement of my troops, but not easily.
Of course, this was after Fractal OWNED me on another map.
I was inches from posting a report on our Game 2 Fractal, but I am thinking that we will have a better game to post in the future. I usually try to hold out for a game with tech involvement and shifts in who is winning, even if it's only one shift, like this game, where he had obviously out expandend me and I came back. Until next game... |

I thought about the shrinkage of the pics... I usually have to shrink them 60% to 80% to fit enough to tell the story without flooding your download time. On occasion, I show a shot at 100%, like the carriers covered in ensnare, plague and acid spores (since you don't see that too often). I don't like to exceed 500x500, since it makes the scrolling a pain in the ass.
I dunno, do you think I should make these longer? I don't want to get longwinded or boring, plus, they are taking me longer and longer to make. Anyway, thanks to all of you who make the nice comments, it makes me want to keep doing these. I usually read all the reports on this site, and most of the comments, but I always read the gold ones first... I think it's incentive to try to do well. What a fun hobby this is!
It's gonna take me days to do a report on that FFA tourney if/when it happens, but hopefully I can do it justice. Dev, you still out there? |

| I'm not saying you should stretch them out on purpose or anything YRM, its just that your report is practically perfect. I don't rate, but the only reason I could think this report wouldn't get a ten is that it isn't super long. |

There were a few mistakes, maybe JV will read this and fix them, but they are minor.
1 - There are 2 map pics that I stuck too close together in the text, and they show up right on top of one another. It's kindof awkward.
2 - In "entry 7" I talk about 5 functioning bunkers... I meant barracks.
3 - In "entry 4" I made a typo, spelling Adventure incorrectly... I'm sorry Yoda! "Heh, excitement, heh adventure, a jedi craves not these things."
Anyway, it's just some sort of competitive tic that I have from working in design... I'm quite happy with the way the raters rate. It's good motivation.

| Ok... I can't reply too many more times, or I'll break the record of Author replies to my own report, but I use Photoshop 5.0. OK, if you are going to become an artist or something that makes you money with it, buy it... if not, try to get a Photoshop Light version somewhere. Corel Draw comes with Corel PhotoPaint. Corel has about everything you could ever want in a graphics package, with one purchase, and at $500 or so, it's cheap. (Not quite as good as Photoshop, but...) I haven't done so, but you could probably get a descent package at www.tucows.com for free or really cheap. Having layers and/or layer affects really help any package for this kind of purpose, but to be honest, I don't use 1/1,000th of Photoshop's potential in these report pictures, just because the need is not there. Alot of scanners or CD-Writers come with some kind of cheap package that should more than do the job you need it to for these reports. We are talking low res, low memory, cut and paste with effect type graphics, which are fairly low end. Hope this helps you out. |

YRM, I think you got a 9 instead of a 10 is not the quality of the BR. It's the quality of the battle. =] If that battle was an intense fight between like eVERLAST vs Crexis sorta fight that would definitely be a 10 with all those pretty pix. The art-work is perfect (IMHO), but the battle itself isn't the best there is. = |

If you use linux (and you should!) you can get a photoshop-quality, very powerful, and FREE graphics tool called the GIMP. Check it out at www.gimp.org. Many professionals swear this is better than photoshop.
YRM: About BR's being longer. The best (textually based BR's) are long, because a long story conveys more detail of the action. For example, check out Fuzzy-the-bear's reports of the canada vs usa tourneys. I really like the crexis vs zileas report in the first tourney (terran v toss), and the maynard vs somebody (boo?) (z v z) in the second. You don't need a long game to have a long report.. detail is what counts. I esp like the overview of the zerglings deciding where to rush based on overlord placement...

| I don't rate too often anymore YRM, but after I write this I'm going to the rating page and logging in with a 10. Yeah, it's not absolutely perfect, but if this is the highest standard of report I ever read, I'm a happy man. Do a search on previous ten's and you'll see this report is there or better. The site's standards have obviously grown since we were created, and you've been one of the people who sets the standards with your great work. I'm recommending you for the "Legion of Bengalaas" award =] |

Thanks man... I want to play against you again. I'm not sure I have all the aspects of the game in hand well enough to beat you, but I know I can give you a better match than I did. I was also thinking, Mark, that we could do the first of that FFA the next time I see you and Heartcutter online together, with a chosen zerg opponent of whoever is best among those in nohunters.
I was reading the reports of the USA vs Canada tourney, and I'm sorry, but 1-1s between great players are often squashes, because they are so good when they get a slight edge. It's very rare that a FFA becomes a squash, because you always end up with a mid/late game 1-1. Fuzzy-the-Bear did an excellent job reporting a game where Maynard got whipped through a bit of luck and an odd build order, but basically the game was a squash with a few interesting points that Fuzzy had to really stretch. Just my thoughts on why this FFA thing is going to generate a better battle. |

I would also like to add, that while FFA's make good games, they make better FFA's when they are four-player. Of course, then you lose the Terran-Zerg-Protoss theme, but maybe you could add a random? |

I love it. :) I've never seen Terrans (other than in fan fiction, but I'm not a fan (no pun intended) of fan fiction) portrayed with quite so much personality. :)
