Neat report. The style was nice but i felt it too heavy on the technical and not enough on the funny side, since it's a game not many people have played and chances are not many will play. More screenshots would have worked well too.

Good choice of game, do a transport tycoon br next :). The flash intro was a nice touch. Rated it a 7, i'll leave it to someone else to give it an 8 since the writing didnt quite work for me.

First of all, Shuriken, welcome back!

Secondly, to me this is an easy nine. You covered a game that's never been reported on before, and did it well. The writing was some of the best of the year. When you're writing a report about a gametype most people haven't experienced, unfortunately you do have to incorporate some technical detail. That said, you kept my attention throughout with writing that flowed very, very well.

That flash intro in itself should bump this report up, that was just awesome. Anyway, yeah: solid 9.

I never played the Tycoon series as a kid. I always watched my friends play and tried to understand the gibberish. For me, the only economics I had to worry about back then was protecting my probes from vulture bikes.

A very easy on the eyes read. Good writing. You took just enough space to explain what did what but not overly so that I got bored. I think it's a well deserved 9.

An excellent treatment on a great game. I played this game a ton, thanks to it being my son's favorite game when he was 4-6 yrs old. Great presentation, an interesting read, and you even managed to poke fun at me, everything required for a solid 9.

RC 2 and RC 3 sucked compared to RC 1. ThrillVille off the rails is supposed to be good, my son has it, but all he does is play the mini games so far.

Cool, I never thought someone would ever do a report on this... I could just not see it working. But you managed to do it, respect!
Writing, layout and images are very good and fit together perfectly. But since RCT offers not that much action and since I've played this missions a dozen times myself, the report lacked a bit of interesting content for me. Thus I can'n push myself to a rating higher than 8. (Even though you might deserve the 9...)

@ JV: I don't think really RCT2 sucked. The optimum would be a kind of RCT 1.5, with the missions from 1 and the build options from 2. *dreams of a perfect world*

Thanks for the comments.

Dial - That's understandable. However, as Dag pointed out,
I needed to throw in some stale facts in order to get you
guys acquainted with the gameplay (seeing how this is the first RCT report, I was unsure of the community's familiarity with the game). If and when I submit another one, I'll be sure
to cut down on the dry details :]

Dag - Good to see you again man. I'm glad you enjoyed the
writing. As I hinted in the intro, I'm still trying to find a happy
medium between the facts, humor, embarrassing Johnny Vegas
references, etc. Some of the best of the year? I don't know about that, but your approval is appreciated regardless.

Psy - I think I hit the nail on the head with you. "You took just enough space to explain what did what but not overly so that I got bored." That was exactly what I was aiming to accomplish, and the fact that you pointed it out means a lot.
Thanks for the kind words man, and it's good to see an old name again. Btw: great job on that video report. Looks like
you're starting quite a trend!

JV - I was hoping that you'd show up, and that you had played RCT at some point. I'm also relieved to see that you can still take a joke. Voluntarily climbing up a mountain requires more testicles than I could ever hope to have. Anyway, I'm glad you stopped by to share your opinion, and
thanks for the 9 :D

Feanor - I wasn't exactly sure if it was going to work myself, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment, and yes,
an RCT 1.5 would have been a dream :O

haha, a roller coaster tycoon report. Freakin' awesome. I didn't read it and probably never will, but I just couldn't let an RCT report go by without commenting. Man I hated cleaning up all the barf when I played that game... and all the grass mowing... yeesh.

Heh, I had considered doing a report on this game way back when, but I didn't think I could make it work. You certainly did though, this was awesome! More pictures would have been nice, but I think I see where you were going with the less is more thing, so I can't complain too much.

Anyway, great job, and I'm hoping you'll make a sequel! There were some other scenarios in that game that were a lot of fun.

- although you made it seem that way, this scenario couldn't have been that difficult. if i remember correctly this is one of the first ones, right? next time you should attempt to do something difficult, although i think some of the RCT maps are notoriously easy if you know how to abuse the game :P

- I enjoyed the perspective, for the most part. I think the report may have been more fluid and engaging if you had attempted something of a more "in-the-game" style, such as when reporters take a look at the first-person view of a marine or some other arbitrary combat unit. more like fan fiction with factual backup from your actual playing experiences. and then you can branch off from that idea.. talk about factors that aren't necessarily in the game, like your lawsuit with the city for building a coaster over improper ground or your sudden drop in park attendance due to the janitor that went postal and killed 12 visitors. you know.. .get creative.

- the descriptions of the intricate details of coasters are unnecessary. I think you only did it once, but it really stood out when you tried to describe how you constructed the track - it was a good effort but I think you can just slap a picture down and we'll be satisfied. if you get RCT3, post a video of your coaster in motion... that would be a very nice accompaniment to the report. I think if you switch to the aforementioned perspective, you can lose most of the unneeded details and awkward bits of park-building and turn it into something entertaining.

- your writing is good, but sometimes it becomes a tad verbose. again, changing the perspective will make this feel much more natural. write as if you're the manager of a theme park, not someone at the pinnacle of academia. :P

all criticism aside, the effort you made really did show off. get more creative with your writing and storytelling and this will net you a much higher score.

I've never played the game before, and I really liked this. For me, you struck the perfect balance of detail and brevity. It seemed a little on the easy side though; nothing bad happened. :P I'd like to see more of these! =)

I'd definitely like to read another one of these :)

I never realized that putting frilly decorations around rides like that actually mattered much for park rating, but I was apparently wrong, as you got way higher rating than I did when I played that game. Decorations just seemed like such a hassle :D
