Not bad, but yeah, lots and lots of hobbit slingers. The humor was generally good too, but it got a bit tired as the report pulled on.
Another one would be quite appreciated, overall a good job. I'll wait until I see how the raters go before decrying it a crime, or hailing it a champion.
The writing was very good. I knew what was going on all the time, and it was simple and straightforward.
No hobbitses next time, hopefully. |

Ahhh, MoM, a game that is very interesting to play and to read BR's about. Great piece of writing, although there were lots of slingers running around. 9-10.
BTW, the mathematical hypothesis on invulnerable drakes was incorrect. It should have said MoO 2 instead of 3 :D. |

| Didn't finish it, as I'm trying to work on a number of things currently, but from what I saw this was very nice. Nice humor and good explanations all-around. I'd say if the rest of the report followed this, it'd get an 8, rounded up to a 9 for novelty. |

I haven't read a whole br in a very long time, and I've never even played MoM, but I glanced over the primer to see what the game was all about, decided to read the first couple paragraphs of the report out of curiosity and just kept on reading...
very well done, I wish the final battles had been more of a challenge but that can't be helped. Great writing, good judicious use of the accompanying illustrations... overall really nice |

Invulnerability actually confers extra defense against non-magic weapons if I remember right.
The AI in MoM isn't very hard, sometimes the AI sits their troops behind castle walls while you shoot them up. They aren't aggressive enough, not attacking strongly despite declaring war and all(diplomacy was pretty pointless too). Hobbit slingers is one of the best range units. Can't remember the exact reasons, one of them being an 8 figure normal unit, meaning each bonus-per-figure with experience increase is very significant. So expectedly he won.
Still great job making an entertaining report covering a classic pretty well. MoM's a great game with lots of race/magic combinations to try, let down by AI largely. It had good music too. Oh yeah I think MoO2 is better than the third one too.
Lotsa effort in, 9 cos' its enjoyable and entertaining, which is what matters.

dustbiter, MOO2 owns just about any empire-building game, even the newer ones (and certainly MOO3), just like SC still owns almost every RTS.
This report looks great. I'm very glad you stuck with the style you used in your other br! I'll rate/read later, but I'd go with 9-10 on a quick skim. |

Assumption 2 is deducted from premise one. That means, once premise 1 is falsified, assumption 2 also fails. No best turn-based strategy game of all times for you! Good report though :-) |

So I'm not the only one left in America that still messes around with MoM.
When I win on impossible vs 4 wizards, it's almost always with the spell of mastery because I don't have the patience to hunt down every last city on the map. I suppose if your starting race is halflings (with no universities), you probably have to spend all that time, though. How many hours did it take you to play this game? |

To the hobbit-bashers: I have no intention of featuring high humans or hobbits in future writings. One of the main reasons for using them in this report was the number of halfling jokes I had stored up... I'll see if I can put together a chaos dwarf/other Myrran race in the future, and a life + hero game to showcase the pseudo-RPG aspect.
To my fellow logicians: Shush. I have shares in QS and I'm trying to recoup my losses.
To hello: It took 29 years in game turns to finish. Certainly not the quickest win ever, but the wraiths/wind mastery/armageddon slowed things down quite a bit. In terms of how long it took in real-life time, that's really hard to measure. The nature of a TBS game means that I have to organise screenshots and take notes while playing.
To dustbiter: Hmmm, MoM's music never really made that much of an impression on me. Of the old DOS games, I'd have to say that Colonization/Transport Tycoon/Ultima series were sonic standouts. It's too bad they were limited to MIDI back in the day.

Yeah, there is a multiplayer mod, but the computer does all the defensive combat for you (so you have a good chance of losing every time) and the neutrals get one extra move per extra human player.
So, unfortunately, the best bet is to wait for a sequel. |
